  • Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enriched Hand Creme

I bought this hand cream after seeing it in a magazine (I think it was Real Simple), and at first I loved it. It absorbed so quickly that I never had to worry about not being able to open a door right after applying it. It moisturized well and was fragrance free. And then I realized that the urea in the product was weakening my nails, so I returned to my previous favorite hand cream--Aveeno Intense Relief. Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Urea, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearyl Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Ether, Sodium Lactate, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Lactic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

    Clarins Gentle Care Cream Deodorant

    My favorite deodorant

Despite the price and the fact that I have to order it online (and when I ordered it from Nordstrom.com, they sent me the roll-on instead, which I don't like as well, so then I had the hassle of sending it back, though of course they were very nice about it), this is currently my favorite deodorant. I sweat a lot, but Certain-Dri really does a number on my skin, so I only use it a few times a month. I love the way Clarins Gentle Care Cream Deodorant controls perspiration, doesn't irritate my skin, and doesn't leave white marks on my clothing. I've tried to find something equally good for less money, but I haven't succeeded. I just wish it were paraben free. Active Ingredient: aluminum chlorohydrate 18%. Inactive Ingredients: water, cyclomethicone, glyceryl myristate, c12-15 alkyl benzoate, isocetyl stearate, propylene glycol, glycerin, steareth-21, cetyl alcohol, fragrance, glyceryl stearate, peg-100 stearate, stearyl alcohol, magnesium aluminum silicate, butylene glycol, hamamelis virginiana flower water, rosemary leaf extract, barosma betulina leaf extract, phenoxyethanol, farnesol, triethyl citrate, methylparaben, disodium edta, butylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, isobutylparaben.

  • Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain
    9.0

Vincent Longo Lip & Cheek Gel Stain

A great lip and cheek stain

This is my first lip and cheek stain. I'm trying to develop a more natural look with my makeup, and this product does a great job of giving my cheeks a much more natural flush than powder blush does, and it lasts longer than powder does on my oily skin. I also like to use on my lips under lipstick so that my lips still have some extra color (even though they're naturally pigmented) after my lipstick wears off. I apply it to both my cheeks and my lips with my finger tips, since that seems to give the most natural look. On cheeks, be sure to apply to freshly moisturized skin because the moisture make it much easier to blend evenly. I have this in the Liquid Kiss color, a shade that should look good on everyone. I have very fair, cool-toned skin, and this looks just like my natural flush, and it doesn't turn bright pink on my lips (something I have to watch out for with many lip products). It is a bit pricy, but a little goes a long way, so I hope this will last me a long time. Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Triethanolamine, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Disodium EDTA, Ethyl Vanillin. May contain: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, FD&C Blue No. 1 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Blue No. 1, D&C Red No. 6, D&C Red No. 7 Calcium Lake,FD&C Yellow No. 6 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Yellow No. 6, D&C Red No. 21 Aluminum Lake, D&C Red No. 27 Aluminum Lake, Carmine, Manganese Violet, FD&C Yellow No. 5 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Yellow No. 5, Bismuth Oxychloride, D&C Red No. 36, D&C Orange No. 5, D&C Yellow No. 10 Aluminum Lake, D&C Red No. 30, D&C Red No. 33.

  • Victoria's Secret So Sexy Natural Hold Hairspray

I bought this on impulse during one of the Victoria's Secret semi-annual sales, and this product, along with the other So Sexy hair products I bought, is a reminder that I should never buy beauty products on impulse. I don't have a problem with the performance of this hairspray. I prefer light-hold hairsprays like this one. My problem is two-fold: I'm not fond of the overwhelming fragrance, and I'd forgotten that I don't like aerosol hairsprays. I hate the way aerosols fill a room with their fragrance; they leave my bathroom uninhabitable for five minutes after use, which I find to be rather inconvenient. I won't be repurchasing this product, and I will not purchase any aerosol hairsprays in the future. Ingredients: Alcohol Denat., Hydrofluorocarbon 152 A, Water, Octylacrylamide/Acrylates/Butylaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Fragrance, Aminomethyl Propanol, Acetyl Triethyl Citrate, Glycerin, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Rosemary Flower Extract, Chamomile Extract, Silk Amino Acids, Phytantriol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Panthenol, PEG-75 Lanolin, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamte, Propylene Glycol.

  • Victoria's Secret So Sexy Volumizing Mousse
    5.0

Victoria's Secret So Sexy Volumizing Mousse

One of my least favorite mousses

I should know better than to buy beauty products on impulse. I like very light hold mousses, and this has a stronger hold than I prefer. I also find that it leaves my hair feeling stiff, sticky, and weighed down, definitely not what I want in a mousse. I've been using mousse since middle school, and this is one of my least favorites. Unfortunately, my favorite, KMS AMP Volume Mousse, has been discontinued, so I'm looking for a new mousse, but this isn't it. I also don't like the strong fragrance, although clearly that's a matter of personal preference, since so many other people seem to like. Overall, I won't repurchase. Ingredients: Water, VP/VA Copolymer, Isobutane, Propane, Polysorbate 80, Polyquaternium-4, Polyquaternium-11, Fragrance, PPG-2-Isodeceth-12, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Rosemary Extract, Chamomile Extract, Silk Amino Acids, Panthenol, Phytantriol Propylene Glycol, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Methylparaben, Ethylhexyl Salicylate.

  • PCA Skin Anti-Redness Serum
    1.0

    PCA Skin Anti-Redness Serum

Made my sensitive skin sting and flush

The texture of this product is more of a light lotion than a serum. Unfortunately for me, this product actually had the opposite of its intended effect: it made my skin sting and flush. I have sensitive skin, but there are many products I have used that I don't react to, so I was disappointed that I reacted to something that was supposed to calm my skin. I'm most suspicious of the caper extract in this product as being the culprit. This is why I generally try to avoid botanical extracts in my products. If you have sensitive skin, beware of this product. Ingredients: Water, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Cyclomethicone, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Octyldodecyl Myristate, Panthenol, Ascophyllum Nodosum Extract, Asparagopsis Armata Extract, Capparis Spinosa Fruit Extract, Sodium PCA, Bisabolol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Trideth-6, Steareth-2, Steareth-21, Disodium EDTA, Aminomethyl Propanol, Ethoxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid.

  • Aveeno Ultra Calming Shave Gel
    10.0

    Aveeno Ultra Calming Shave Gel

    An excellent shave gel

This is my favorite shave gel. Well, actually, I like the Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel too (with the dark blue cap), and I don't see a noticeable difference between the Ultra-Calming and the Therapeutic. They're both fragrance-free and are thick and seem to last longer than a can of other drugstore shave gels. But the Ultra-Calming claims to have feverfew to reduce redness (feverfew reduces my migraines, I'm not sure about redness, though) and a higher concentration of aloe. My husband likes this shave gel too for his sensitive face, and I love it when we can use the same product--fewer items to pack when we travel. Overall, I recommend this product and plan to repurchase. Ingredients: water, palmitic acid, triethanolamine, methyl gluceth-20, sorbitan stearate, isopentane, sorbitol, stearic acid, feverfew extract, oat kernel flour, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, sunflower seed oil glyceride, allantoin, panthenol, tocopheryl acetate, glycerin, isobutane, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, PEG-8 benzoate, hydroxyethylcellulose, methylparaben, hydrxoylpropyl methylcellulose, ethylparaben, propylparaben, benzaldehyde.

  • Victoria's Secret Heavenly Eau de Parfum
    5.0

Victoria's Secret Heavenly Eau de Parfum

    Nice but common fragrance

I'm rather conflicted about this fragrance. I think it smells nice but rather common, maybe because so many other people wear it (VS claims it's the #1 selling fragrance in America). Despite it commonness, however, I wear it occasionally when I want to feel extra sexy (the whole Victoria's Secret connection). I have a couple of tiny bottles that I got for free or significantly reduced, but I won't purchase it again once those run out. Top notes: quince, cardamon, wild ivy, mandarin. Middle notes: waterlily, white peony, freesia, iris, violet, poppy. Low notes: white musk, sandalwood, orchid vanilla.

  • Grassroots Research Labs Grassroots Happily Every After Scent

I tested this while shopping at Kohls recently. I really liked the way it smelled when I first sprayed it on, and I loved the idea of a more natural fragrance. It has essential oils of florentine orange, jasmine, and spearmint. However, when I checked my wrist four hours later to see how it smelled, I couldn't detect it at all, and I'm very sensitive to fragrance. I won't waste my money on a fragrance that can't last even a few hours.

  • C.O. Bigelow Almond Body Lotion
    8.0

    C.O. Bigelow Almond Body Lotion

    A nice scented lotion

This is a lightweight lotion that absorbs quickly, isn’t sticky, and has lots of great natural moisturizers and antioxidants, but it’s also not extremely moisturizing. It’s best for maintaining skin’s moisture rather than healing dry skin. I like it as a body lotion on my legs and arms, but I need something more moisturizing on my hands. I really like the natural almond fragrance because it is mildly sweet and foody without having that overly sweet, almost cherry, note that so many other almond-scented products have. Ingredients: Water, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Stearic Acid, Safflower Seed Oil, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Methyl Gluceth-20, Cetyl Phosphate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Cetyl Esters, Sunflower Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Extract, Bitter Almond Seed Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Borage Seed Oil, Olive Fruit Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Retinyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopheryl Linoleate, Tocopherol, Panthenol, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea.
