I'm generally not a fan of pencil liners, as they generally drag and I find myself washing and reapplying to apply color where I want. I love the vivid colors UD offers, and these slip on almost by themselves, making application so easy and fun.

As another polar vortex bears down on much of the country, I find myself driven to write about moisturizing products yet again. Burt's Bees "Beeswax Lip Balm" is a beautiful bargain, especially for about $3.00. Every ingredient works toward keeping your lips soft and pliable--from beeswax, the main ingredient, to coconut, sweet almond, and peppermint oils, lanolin, Vitamin E, rosemary leaf extract, and soybean and canola oils. This gentle tingling lets you know it's working; I don't feel a need to reapply often, and that's important to me.

Nivea is one of my favorite drugstore lotions which has a subtle, pleasant aroma, shea butter, glycerin, and Hydra IQ® to absorb well into skin in a non-greasy fashion, leaving you feeling hydrated and velvety. It puts a quick end to aggravating dry and/or flaking skin, all at a price which is beyond reasonable.

I have yet to find a product that It Cosmetics doesn’t do superbly. That applies to their “Hello Light™ Crème Illuminator.” It is extremely lightweight. Simply run your finger or the wonderful brush lightly across the surface and apply wherever you want a gentle glow, not garish glimmer, wearable even during the day. It Cosmetics packs in peptides, hyaluronic acid, grapeseed extract, and hydrolyzed collagen to keep you looking young and deflect light from lines and wrinkles from your complexion. What do you have to lose? Nothing! This is a must-have for those who have made New Year’s resolutions to look better.

Jouer has a special touch for creating color which is kind to skin as well as most becoming. I bought their “Tint” for lips and cheeks in “Orchid,” which is actually a creamy bronzed cranberry. It is so lightweight that there is no battling the skin on your cheeks to place the color EXACTLY where you want it to be, along with your lips. There is at least one color perfect for every woman. It imparts a gorgeous, flattering flush which you don’t have to touch up every hour. While the tint on my lips faded a little more quickly than that on my cheeks (I was talking, drinking coffee and water, etc.), I was surprised that by late afternoon I was still radiant. The tiny size of the compact makes it perfectly portable for even the tiniest handbag, but it offers plenty of color to keep you glowing.

In general I’m not a huge fan of a nude lip, but Jouer Cosmetics has perfected the product in the form of its “Hydrating Lipstick.” I have both “Dusty” and “Gigi” (I wonder why?), mellow shades which don’t leave you looking like a ghost but give you subtle, full-coverage, flattering color which lasts a very long time. Even better than the shades are the ingredients, which work hard to protect and nourish your pout. They include, in part, castor seed oil, hydrogenated vegetable oil, Brazilian Cupuacu Butter, Vitamin E, sweet almond oil, aloe leaf extract, and Vitamin E. Doesn’t this sound like a wonderful lipstick for lips which have been battling bitterly cold weather? It is. It’s a great product for the entire year.

ELF's "Studio Pigment Eyeshadow" in "Naturally Nude" is a flattering pink with a hint of taupe. The color is lustrous and leaves you looking wide awake. I plan to purchase several more.

There is a good reason why this is one of Peter Thomas Roth's bestsellers--it simply works! It is replete with ingredients to help skin be rejuvenated, yet it's so easy to use. Glycolic and lactic acids exfoliate the skin's surface while supporting natural cell turnover; salicylic hydroxy acid absorbs oil and discourages blemishes. Gamma hydroxy acid, an essential fatty acid, boosts moisture control and strengthens cells, while amino acids, with their antioxidant properties, help to protect skin from environmental damage. Those with oily skin can probably use these daily, up to twice; normal skin reacts best to usage three times a week until a tolerance is built and daily use (once or twice) is comfortable. Women and men with dry skin should begin by employing once or twice weekly; as the product is tolerated, usage can be changed to daily. Gently apply a pad to your face, neck, décolleté, and back of hands (yes!) for sixty seconds to three minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat dry, following with a serum or moisturizer. Some people may experience a slight tingling. I never did and use at least once daily. My pores are smaller, my skin is radiant, and it looks as if years have disappeared from my face. This is nothing short of a miracle!

These are some of the most enjoyable wipes I've used. They have a gentle citrus scent (I wish they smelled like Ole Henriksen's, as they're identical to Dreamsicles), but the cloth itself has millions of microscopic nubs to exfoliate your skin as you wisk away waterproof makeup, grime, and oil with ease. The cloth will not irritate your delicate skin, but gently gives you a mini-spa beauty treatment with each use. Genius!

This angled brush is dense, quite soft, and works well to put color exactly where you want it. I have more than one because I'm often reaching for it. It is a great multi-tasker which holds its shape and doesn't shed.
