The weather has been unusually cold for many parts of the country this winter--time to purchase "Tree Hut's Shea Body Butter" (I prefer the "Mango" scent), about $8.00 at Ulta or less at Amazon. This gentle-scented cream has heft, but it is not oily or annoying on the skin. It sinks it immediately with a light tropical scent, transporting wonderful ingredients such as certified organic shea butter, vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, safflower seed oil, beeswax, lanolin, mango puree, and cocoa butter to extremely dry, rough, scaly skin. This is an intense moisturizer, but it is a pleasure to wear. The texture is more like a soufflé than a cream and immediately comforts winter-whipped skin. You'll find yourself spreading it from hands to arms to legs and damaged feet--no matter how bad they are. This is an excellent, serious treatment, one well worth the price you pay. One tub will last you a long time.

My sample of Lancôme's "Gloss in Love" in "Under the Spotlight" (fuschia with iridescent sparkle) became a full investment after I first used it, and I didn't mind the $27.00 price tag. This is lip gloss for adult women. A sample of "Under the Spotlight" actually showed up as an enhanced, comforting pink on me, giving my lips a vinyl shine and a wonderful finish. Total Beauty recommended these glosses and I couldn't agree any more, as this is non-tacky, non-sticky, long-lasting sheen to keep your lips wrapped in luxury while you glow. The range of available colors is awesome, and the consistency of the gloss is thick enough to shield your tender pout but sheer enough to allow you to sip champagne without leaving behind an unsightly shield. Lancôme has another winner with this product, to be sure!

My beloved, gorgeous mother used to have a smell which continually emanated from her although she rarely used any fragranced soap, shower gel, powder, or cologne. Her skin had a clean, fresh scent, something which made you want to get closer. She laughed at me and our entire family, as she didn't smell it herself, but it drew members of the family to her, and she was showered with kisses and hugs in part to capture the unforgettable aroma. It still remains a great part of her beauty after her passing. Clean's "Bare Skin" somehow captures the warm yet oh-so-delicate essence of a woman's particular smell, of just-washed skin after one's chemistry comes into play. It is a gentle, gorgeous scent, with notes of lotus blossom, fresh air accord, dewy petals, aquatic notes, blue woods, musks, amber wood, and vanilla. It lasts a long time but fades away with beautiful demurity. This would be a perfect choice for a woman who doesn't want to smell like cologne, just an "enhanced" version of herself, of her skin on a warm summer day when the sun has played upon it and she has been out among fresh flowers and plants. I receive too many compliments on this to count--I absolutely love it!

Purpose Gentle Cleansing Bar is appropriate for everyone--those suffering from acne, those with sensitive skin, and those who simply want a way to a clean, clear complexion. I have used this off and on for years and keep returning to it. Even if I don't use a pre-cleanser makeup remover, this is very effective at getting rid of dirt, grime, and all types of makeup.

I simply cannot find a negative thing to say about Bath and Body Works' "Antibacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap." I love the seasonal scents available--right now we still have "Candy Cane Bliss" and "'Tis the Season" in our bathroom and kitchen for the Christmas/New Year season. The aromas will change with the seasons (I am always fascinated by the huge variety they offer), but the quality remains the same, which is simply OUTSTANDING. This richly foaming soap cleanses thoroughly but gently, never leaving hands dry and treating skin gently.

There are times when I think Urban Decay can do nothing wrong (the of the "Naked" palettes and liner pencils, for instance), and there are other times when I wonder if they know what they are doing. I am hard to please when it comes to facial primers to be sure, but this was a complete disappointment to me. It did not help my makeup last longer, absolutely did not brighten my complexion, and left me feeling a little slick. I'm sorry I wasted the money--please don't waste yours.

While I love the first Naked palette, I am even more impressed with Naked II. As Volta wisely notes again, the brush is much improved. The colors are cooler and generally of a gray/taupe variety, more flattering for my eyes. There are some new hues, unique to this palette alone. I love the plush, silken texture of the shadows and the way they wear for such a long time. I also love the fact that I can swipe some on just to run errands or sit down with a plethora of brushes to create a sensual, smoky eye. The primer is good, although not my favorite.

This handy sharpener for two sizes of pencils is worth the bit extra you may have to pay. It leaves a sharp, accurate point and no mess behind. All sharpeners are not created equal, and this one excels!

In general, I find floral/fruit fragrances feminine and refreshing. Betsey Johnson combines fresh waterlillies, sparkling cassis, lemon blossom, osmanthus, golden gardenia, pink grapefruit flower, skin musk, whipped vanilla and blonde woods in a scent that can be overpowering. "Less is more" here. Those are lovely notes and perhaps would result in a less strong perfume if some were left out. Far too heavy for me . . .
