Paula's Choice RESIST Remarkable Skin Lightening Lotion with 7% AHA
Paula, Could You Revamp the Formula?
Paula's Choice products usually do not disappoint, but I am most disheartened after exhausting one complete tube and the great majority of another of their "RESIST Remarkable Skin Lightening Lotion with 7% AHA" with very few positive results. The science is there to lighten skin--I don't know why the light circles on one cheek and one hand are so resistant to this cream (Pond's "Clarant B3" did a much better job at a fraction of the cost). The spots have been oh-so-ever-slightly-lessened, but not enough to justify the price of $25.00 for two ounces. The cream is silky and I realize that you must use it consistently, as skipping a day can cause major setbacks. But the smell is extremely harsh, like corroded metal, and my husband and I have endured it for months with almost no improvement. I will return to Pond's or move on to Bremenn Clinical's "Clinical Strength Dark Spot Eraser." Sorry, Paula, but this did not begin to live up to my expectations.

A concealer or two travels with me wherever I go. They are in my purse, briefcase, glove compartment, desk at school, vanity, and on bathroom shelves. That's because you never know when you'll need a "lift" under your eyes or a quick disguise for a blemish which is emerging. Recently I bought L'Oreal's "True Match Concealer." It has a good consistency and blends easily under eyes (the shade of fair/light is just slightly lighter than my own skin and thus gives me a wide-awake but never "fake" look). It doesn't settle into tiny crevices and lasts through long days and nights. For about $8.00, it makes you happy that you can solve undereye shadows and facial imperfections without breaking the bank.

It is a given that I sing a line from a very old tune every time I use this amazing product. It's from "Smiling Faces, Sometimes," a hit for both the Temptations and the Undisputed Truth. The line says: "The truth is in the eyes 'cause the eyes don't lie, amen." I wonder if Ole Henriksen thought of this line when this powerhouse serum was formulated. Like the majority of his products, it works amazingly. Because the tissue around the eye area is so very tender, Henriksen breaks new ground by using exfoliating AHA's here--and the result is nothing short of wondrous! I love how lightweight the gel is and how little you need. Pat gently around the bottoms and tops of your eyes using your ring finger, as it is your weakest and will cause the least damage. It is suggested that those with sensitive skin use it every other day for the first two weeks; all women should be sure to follow with an SPF because of the inclusion of lactic and glycolic acids (and you are encouraged to follow with another eye cream for optimal benefits). My eyes are instantly comforted, softened, and feel more taut. I don't have undereye circles, but the others here seem to find that this works well to disperse them. It is keeping wrinkles away and my eye area looking very young. Other ingredients include Vitamin C to brighten (I have noticed this benefit!), micro algae to firm and boost collagen production, rice bran protein to strengthen skin and disperse dark shadows, and saccharide, an emollient to nourish, comfort, and moisturize. If you have ever suffered from undereye bags brought about by heavy eye creams, this is the serum for you. It is unconventional in many ways, but mainly because I continue to be asked if I've had "work done" around my eyes. I just smile and keep ordering this gem.

I can see why the scent of these might put off some users, but it is very much akin to an orange Dreamsicle--so using these is Heavenly for me and brings back happy memories! Only one cloth is needed to remove even a good deal of waterproof eye makeup, foundation, blush, and lip color, along with oil and grime. Henriksen formulates his products to work in tandem beautifully with each other. These sheets contain Vitamin C to brighten skin, micro algae to firm and boost collagen production, CoQ10 (necessary for skin repair and regeneration), and green tea to refresh and inhibit collagen breakdown. As with all of the products in the line, they are formulated without harmful parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. Skin is left impeccably clean but never tight or uncomfortable (actually, quite soft and smooth). They are pricey--$6.00 gets you a mere ten towelettes, but I like them enough to spend $25.00 for sixty wipes. Yes, Neutrogena and other brands work as well, but I have a special affinity for Ole Henriksen. The reason? I've seen better results than with the majority of brands, and the products are so enjoyable to use that I'm willing to pay for the pleasure. Henriksen makes some audacious beauty claims, but it lives up to them--my skin is glowing as it hasn't since I was a teen!

It's hard to believe there are eye creams I still haven't tried, but they're out there. Recently I was VERY PLEASED with the beauty bag I purchased from Total Beauty. It contained a deluxe sample size of this eye cream. Tender skin absorbs it readily, a definite plus for this wondrous product. The most important ingredient it contains is emu oil, known to help with over forty-five skin problems, from wrinkles to ezcema and rosacea. Green tea in the formula soothes skin, while aloe smoothes and softens and panthenol adds clarity and refinement. There was an immediate difference in the appearance of my eyes, and I am grateful that they are already in good shape. Skin was softened yet made more taut, and there was a new radiance I hadn't seen before. I'm a fan!

Neutrogena can do little wrong, as I am concerned, but I had serious doubts about its ability to produce a lightweight conditioner which adds volume, strength, and shine. THIS IS IT! I first use the accompanying shampoo. When the conditioner comes from the tube, it feels like a product meant for baby hair--that's just how lightweight it is. The difference in the feel is immediate. But do not be fooled by the delicate texture, as this conditioner goes to work on even the driest, frizziest hair to renew and restore. It uses amino acids, vitamins (such as Vitamin C) to nourish, and proteins like hydrolyzed silk to seal the hair's cuticle for maximum shine. It is rare that I am happy with my hair. When I began to use Neutrogena's "Triple Moisture" shampoo and conditioner, it started to look and act like my virgin, undamaged hair of old. Now it's in the best shape it's been in for years. I like the way it looks and feels. Most importantly, I LOVE the fact that I can shampoo every two or three days and have hair as fresh as if I just emerged from the shower. I am overwhelmed that more readers aren't commenting on this product!

I am awestruck that I am the only person writing about this PHENOMENAL shampoo. I was very used to Neutrogena's "Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo," but this is as good, if not better. One day I was ordering products online and added this shampoo and its accompanying conditioner--what amazing treats! It lives up to its claims of being extremely lightweight on hair, but you sacrifice nothing when it comes to keeping hair in optimal shape. The smell is subtle and salon-like. The cream itself is rich; you don't need a lot for luxurious lather. The label boasts that amino acids penetrate to help restore fullness, while vitamins and fortifiers nourish and deeply strengthen. Naturally-derived proteins (oat and wheat, for starters) seal the hair's cuticle for maximum shine. My hair is bouncy and full and looks like it has suffered no damage (great trick, Neutrogena!). It feels good in my hands and against my neck. I am addicted to this and the "Triple Moisture Cream" to treat my hair as gently and well as possible.

It's the time of the year when lip balms can be seen on nearly every surface in my house, from bedroom to kitchen to living room. Even during mild days, my skin (and pout) are much drier now and need constant hydration. I prefer the stick version of this (especially in super-moisturizing Pomegranate), but I still use this quite often. I enjoy the cherry scent. It's surprisingly viscous, but that doesn't put me off. It gives me more hours between having to add product (I am surprised at the very thin nature of many of lip balms). At night I can apply and wake up with my lips still lightly coated and definitely softened and repaired. Besides beeswax, lanolin, petrolatum and Cocoa Seed Butter as emollients, there is camphor in the formula which produces a pleasant tingling sensation (caution here: Camphor is one of the ingredients which make lip balm addictive, preventing your own lips from producing the normal amount of moisture they should). And there is an SPF factor of 15; moreover, Carmex is water-resistant for up to eighty minutes, so it makes it great for the outdoors. I love this stuff and would give it ten stars except for the camphor element. Just a tip: Never lick dry lips; enzymes in your saliva break down food and do worse to delicate skin.

Yikes! I can't believe I didn't review this ages ago. I've used Neutrogena's "Hand Cream" since I was a child and will continue to do so. It "sets the bar," so to speak, for other hand creams. Glycerin and a number of emollients are extremely rich and soothing; sometimes it is the ONLY cream for winter-whipped skin. And it is reasonably priced!

It was much trepidation that I tried a few samples of L'Oreal's "Youth Code Texture Perfector" ("Miracle Blur" had been a bad dream). I was wonderfully and happily surprised! It contains glycerin and forms of silicone, but it also contains sodium hyaluronate to help your complexion improve and retain moisture as you wear it. It was a bit slick but absorbed very easily into my skin. I waited a few minutes and put it to the ultimate test--I covered it with my Lancôme powder foundation. There was a very visible improvement, and my skin is in good shape. Pores were less obvious, with an overall softened, radiant appearance. I am going to purchase this now. I am not conscious that I am wearing it--it's that lightweight--but it does give great results.
