    Crest Whitestrips Classic

    Noticeable Whitening Increases My Confidence!

My mom took an antibiotic in the last stages of her pregnancy with me because she had bronchitis; my teeth have very little enamel because of it, mainly just the underlying layer of dentin. Dentin by its nature is yellow. Since I was a young child, I've mixed baking soda and peroxide to try to brighten my smile somewhat. When I grew older, I also employed a sonic toothbrush and water pic. I didn't want to use one of the dramatic versions of white strips in case it would remove the little enamel I have. These worked well to give me a much cleaner appearance and feel. I'm happy!

  • Raw Natural Beauty Raw Minerals Mineral Glow

My porcelain skin cries out for color in the spring and summer months. I satisfy my craving with Jergen's moisturizing tanning cream and also with the wondrous Raw Minerals' "Mineral Glow." It is one of the most authentic glows imaginable. I lightly shake a small amount of the gently glistening powder through the sifter at the top. With a big, fluffy brush, I sweep over my forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, and décolletage. It controls oil while softening fine lines and creases and increasing smoothness and elasticity. This is amazing for women of all skin tones!

    Gillette Venus Embrace Razor

    Gillette for Gorgeous Legs!

The five blades make a marked difference in the closeness with which this shaves. The "moisture ribbons" keep me from tiny cuts and nicks (after all of these years, I still am not great with a razor). I wish the silky-smooth results lasted longer, but I shave daily in the spring and summer, so it's really not a problem.

  • Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color

I first fell in love with Sally Hansen's "Diamond Strength No-Chip Nail Polish" when I saw the irresistible colors and the charming faux diamond chip at the front of the bottle. It glides on well for me, sets quickly, and wears a long time, especially with a great topcoat.

    Clinique All About Shadow Quad

    Gorgeous, Silky Shadows

The last review I wrote (on Clinique's tremendous powder blush) reminded me of how much I love the Clinique "Colour Surge Eye Shadow Quads" I've used forever and truly love. I have them in "Teddy Bear" (classic ivory, golden tan beige, milk chocolate, and a delicious deep brown) and "Plum Seduction" (silver/grey taupe, medium lilac, intense purple, and charcoal grey). Pigmentation is wonderful. The shadows are silky-soft, blendable, and provide all day-into-night wear, especially over a great primer.

  • Clinique Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher

    Clinique Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher

    Tender, Beautiful Glow

Years ago, when I worked for a huge accounting firm, a female colleague/friend always looked exceptionally fresh. I scrutinized her face and, after much time, realized that it was her barely-there blush which gave her such an alluring glow. We went to a department store during lunch one day and she picked up Clinique's "Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher" in "Lucky Clover." Aha! That WAS her secret. I didn't try it then but I use it now. It has the most tender coverage, completely natural. I use it in "Pink Clover" ("Lucky Clover" is gone), and it gives me equal radiance, unusual for a powder blush.

  • Nailtini Coco Loco Sugar Scrub

    Nailtini Coco Loco Sugar Scrub

A Smoothie for Velvet-Like Hands, Elbows, Knees, and Feet

I've mentioned before that I couldn't hate the tiny, crepe-like lines beginning to appear on my hands any more. I probably have more lotions to care for this than Sephora sells, and currently I'm using one by EMK placental meant to plump the skin of the hands, brighten, firm, and deeply hydrate (the jury is still out on this, as it is only my second week of using it). But I know that moisture is not enough. I need to frequently exfoliate and slough off dead, dry cells and accelerate the growth of new ones. So I'm back to one of my favorite scrubs, Nailtini's "Coco Loco Smoothie Mani/Pedi Sugar Scrub" (now available for $18.00 online at "Sindulgence" ). This is a great time of the year for the exotic, island-like smell. It is an indulgent, highly effective blend of sugar crystals, moisturizing coconut milk, nut oils, and aromatic pineapple extract. Apply liberally to dry hands and inhale the aroma as you massage it in for several minutes--at least. Since this is also the season for bare skin, use on parched elbows, knees, and feet, and heels for a silky look and feel. Be forewarned: This is a true oil scrub, and you will be left with a very emollient coating when you are done. I use DHC's "White Soap" to remove excess oil (although not every last bit, as it moisturizes). My hands look younger and feel like those of a child.

    E.L.F. Brightening Eye Color

One of the Best Dollars You'll Spend

ELF has created some innovative, unique shadow combinations which have more than a fair amount of pigmentation and wear well over a good primer. I wouldn't say that they are particularly "brightening," but they can be absolutely becoming. The packaging is a little flimsy, but what else could you want?

  • Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

I have a very beauty-savvy friend who often surprises me with beauty "gifts" for no particular reason other than that they work effectively. She never disappoints; I never know if I'll receive a cosmetic, a cleansing product, or an item to enhance my hair, but they are always extraordinary. One of her best choices ever arrived last year--Liz Earle's "Clean and Polish™" Hot Cloth Cleanser. It was unlike anything I had ever used before, but I credit it for keeping my skin ultra-clean and baby soft. I have repurchased this many times. This plant-based cleanser works in two phases. Phase I: This thick, rich, and creamy product removes all traces of makeup, even stubborn waterproof eye makeup (all without mineral oil as an ingredient). The second phase is "polishing." You use the pure muslin cloth which comes with the set to remove the cream. The muslin, by its very texture, performs as an exfoliator, sloughing off dead skin cells and leaving you with an immediately more radiant, clear, smooth complexion. The ingredients? Liz Earle incorporates beeswax, eucalyptus essential oil, glycerin, hops extract, D-panthenol (also known as pro-Vitamin B5), cocoa seed butter, citric acid, and rosemary and chamomile essential oil extracts. I was thrilled by this but uneasy at first as to just what to do with it. I generally gravitate toward cleansers which lather. I learned how to use it: You massage one to two pumps of this lush cream onto a dry face and neck twice daily. Rinse the muslin cloth in hand-hot water and squeeze out. Gently but thoroughly wipe off the cream (for obvious reasons, I like to use upward, circular motions, being sure to remove all of it but never tugging on skin). Keep the cloth hot until all of the cleanser has dissolved. Then splash face with cool water to seal pores. This is not just for those with dry skin; it is for any woman (or man) who wants to cleanse deeply and well and reap the benefits of a beautiful complexion. I liked the muslin cloth so much that I ordered several more from Liz Earle's site and keep them handy and clean in my linen closet. It is an experience to savor!

  • Philosophy Amazing Grace Spray Fragrance

I love the name of Philosophy's "Amazing Grace," and it would be next to impossible for the fragrance to get any more beautiful. The notes are simple--bergamot, muguet blossoms, and musk. It is uniquely feminine and oh-so-soft and seductive.
