I finally gave up my strong, regular dryer for an ionic one (Vidal Sassoon's 1875 Watt Professional Full-Size Ionic Dryer). It dries more slowly than my former one, but I love the fact that my hair is less damaged and is definitely more silky and shiny. I also love the setting when I can give it a "shot" of cold air to hold a particular wave or style. There are a lot of settings which I am still figuring out. All in all, I know I'm doing good for my hair and not frying it.

So I'm addicted to palettes--we've established that in other posts. I'm always pursuing a palette that gives me everything I need in one package. I'm sure you have great ones, mediocre ones, and others you wish you never bought. Put Pixi's "Ultimate Beauty Kit" in the "great ones" category, as it's a palette which works for nearly all women, especially those with fair to medium-toned skin. This palette was designed to transform you from drab to fabulous easily and in a short time. Eye shadows (thirty-two in all) are divided into two sides, with neutral/brown colors on the left (these would greatly please the fans of the UD "Nude" palettes in matte, satin, and gleaming finishes, although there isn't quite as much shimmer as there is with UD). They are lovely, from nude to suede to copper to delectable, irresistible deep chocolate browns. On the right side are "cool" colors including everything from gentle pinks, peach, and white to purples, greys, and unique, intense, inky blues and amethysts. The finishes vary with these as well. There is no black, but this doesn't appear to be a problem (most likely everyone reading this owns a black shadow). Pixi shadows are well-pigmented, finely-milled, and apply and blend professionally. There are a number of sheer- to medium-pigmented blushes, all with subtle, wearable, flattering sheen (eight in all). Add to this gorgeous mix sixteen (yes, you read that correctly) medium-weight lip glosses. They are completely non-sticky and vary from totally sheer to pale to tan and subtle pinks to all-out glamour hues in mauves, berries, browns, reds, red-browns, and burgundy. The glosses have a minty scent and flavor which dissipates quickly, but the glosses wear a long time. The palette sells for $40.00 at Target and online and is made of a heavy tri-fold heavy cardboard. Open and be amazed. Be very amazed. When you use these colors, you will be transformed directly to gorgeous.

Wow--does this bring back memories of when I sold Avon! A great many of my customers bought this and I grew to love it. I love the scent, the moisturizing feel, and the price.

I started with this product before trying other primers, and it seems I always return to it. Smashbox and other brands left a heavy, uncomfortable feeling. I don't feel this lightweight, gel-powder at all, but pores and lines are disguised. I like the Optix Light-Diffusing Technology which lends a lovely radiance as well. All around, this works beautifully for me, and at a reasonable, affordable price!

Very few balms can compete with the luxurious feel and the overall effects of Softlips Lip Protectant/SPF 20. I love the flavors and the wonderful scents. The slick, thin tube slips in my purse or pocket with no problem. This is a must-have for every woman!

My search for perfect moisturizers continues, along with my pursuit of the ultimate eye shadow palette, mascara, you name it. I have been extremely pleased with Ole Henriksen's line of products and seen amazing results, but as the beauty-savvy "Volta" of this site has wisely warned, you need to give skin a break from this line once in awhile, as the potent acids and ingredients they contain can become harsh. Where do I turn? To the Algenist line, for starters, especially their Overnight Restorative Cream. This cream was initially given to me by a very generous friend (emphasis on "generous" here, as two ounces retail for $90.00). Algenist is formulated without parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, triclosan (just in the news this week for harmful effects!), phthalates, and synthetic dyes. It is replete with alguronic acid, to boost natural cell regeneration and support the synthesis of elastin. It also includes peptides, to support natural collagen and, hence, the structure of the skin itself. Vitamins C and E visibly enhance radiance. Crithmum maritimum extract (try saying that twice quickly!) nurtures cell renewal and helps with density. Although this cream is totally oil-free, it has a rich, solid, satin-like texture which I truly enjoy. It penetrates my skin well; my husband claims that, like "EMK Placental," it gives a "rubbery" feel to my complexion, but that is his way of describing the immediate smooth texture this imparts. The following morning after using this, my complexion has a velvety surface. Any fine lines and creases are definitely blurred (especially the inherited "parentheses" around my mouth area). My face and neck are more taut and resilient. There is a hard-to-disguise radiance (but why would I hide it?). After a week of use, results are very marked and I would proudly walk a model's catwalk with little makeup! Algenist claims that alguronic acid outperforms other anti-aging ingredients. I'm just happy with the results. I was holding on to the last remnants of this when my friend reminded me that she would buy me another when I needed one. Whew--was I relieved! How can I repay her for this?

I like this soap because it lasts longer for me than the shower gel. It lathers very well, smells better than words can describe, and leaves me satiny-soft.

When I have a long spring/summer day ahead, I begin by showering or bathing with this frothy, gentle gel. It smooths my skin and leaves a faint hint of my much-beloved fragrance. I follow up with body lotion and finish with a mist of the scent itself--I feel wonderful and ready to go!

"White Linen" is great all year round, but it is PERFECT for spring and summer. I love the lotion as well as the fragrance. It is delicately scented so that I can layer. It softens and moisturizes and leaves me feeling fresh.

I wasn't sure that I wanted to try another drugstore mascara, but I had heard wonderful things about this. I was also lured by the "Blackened Brown" shade and the affordable price (about $7.50). I'm so glad I did! This mascara's brush is exceptional, with enough bristles to color and highlight each and every lash. I have a great deal more length and volume. My lashes remain pliable--not "crunchy," which I hate--and there are no clumps or smudges. Yes!
