    Nina Ricci Gentle Shower Gel

    Absolutely Intoxicating!

It's no mistake that this incredible scented has been around since the 1940's. It has rich floral tones of gardenia, jasmine, with hints of sandalwood and iris. The shower gel is subtle, allowing you to layer the fragrance over it. It foams well and leaves you silky-soft and incredibly sexy!

    Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

    Ultra-Feminine and Beautiful

Experimenting with new scents is a continual fascination. Recently I had a sample of Viktor & Rolf's "Flowerbomb" and bought it--both in the spray version and the rollerball for carrying in my purse. It is, as the name suggests, a floral fragrance, with notes of Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Cattleya Orchid, and Ballerina Freesia Bloom in a base of Patchouli. It can be heavy when first applied, but it is ultimately feminine and very beautiful when it has a chance to meld with your own body's chemistry. The spray doesn't last long; that's why I keep the rollerball for touchups.

    Ulta Shimmer Brick Bronzer

    Leaves You Radiant!

When you blend these gentle, shimmering colors together, the result is a "lit-from-within" glow. I like it as much as Bobbi Brown's "Shimmer Brick," possibly more.

    Ulta Eyebrow Gel

    Good for a Finishing Touch

Once in awhile, I forget to use this as a "finishing touch" after I groom and color my brows. It is a tad sticky, but it doesn't affect anything when I apply it and brush brows upward slightly for a wide-awake look. Lasts a very long time.

  • Ulta Professional Small Eyeshader Brush

I have so many brushes that I don't know where to put the ones that don't already come in cases. This is a great brush for applying, blending, countouring, you name it.

    Ulta Shower Gel

    Refreshing and Softening!

Ulta used to have some scents I loved like crazy. They still have good ones. I like it for showers or baths. It lathers well and leaves me moisturized and lightly scented.

  • Bonne Bell Lip Smacker

    Bonne Bell Lip Smacker

    My-All Time Favorite

At the ages of seventeen and eighteen, I used to flaunt my 103-pound, tall body around the neighborhood pool, knowing I looked great in my swimsuits. And I never did it without carrying a large tube of Bonne Bell's "Lip Smacker" in "Dr. Pepper." My sister did the same. It gave enough tint to complement our complexions and was comforting and very softening. I still carry a tube with me to this day!

  • Robanda Anti-Aging Hand Cream, SPF 20
    2.0

Robanda Anti-Aging Hand Cream, SPF 20

    Simply Moisturized and Nothing Else

My hands--oh, my hands. They are still pretty, but along with a few brown spots, small creases are beginning to appear (they give a crepe-paper appearance). I refuse to have that when my complexion is still in pretty great shape. Moreover, your hands tell your age much more quickly than your face. How many times have you been fascinated by a lovely woman until she reached up and you noted that her hands betrayed her? So the search continues for a cream to plump and moisturize, break up and destroy the brown discolorations (which are not dark or plentiful at all). Like the beloved, deceased Nora Ephron, I was totally disheartened when even StriVectin®--yes, StriVectin®--didn't work for me (she bemoaned its lack of effects on her neck; their hand "miracle" was not a "miracle" at all for me, nor was the neck product). I was paging through a catalog several months ago and saw declarations about "The Best Hand Treament in the USA," Robanda® "Anti-Aging Hand Cream." I was anxious to try it. It is not inexpensive. I found it for about $20.95 online. It boasts that this is "Proven effective to fade dark spots as well as providing maximum sun protection. Vitamin A and other antioxidants simultaneously moisturize hands and strengthen nails." I ordered it via FedEx®! It does contain a sunscreen of SPF 20. It uses Gatuline Whitening to disperse discoloration (this is a complex derived by the fermentation of Kojic, Lactic, and Licorice Extracts). It contains active Retinol Palmitate along with Vitamin E Acetate and Shea Butter. I had the highest hopes for this product. It has a non-descript scent. Though it is rich, it is non-greasy and absorbs easily. Yes, my hands were moisturized and softened, as they are with nearly any product on the market. Sadly, there was NO lightening effective whatsoever, no help with the crepe-paper appearance. I used an entire tube, reapplying when my hands were exposed to the elements and water. When I saw no difference, I ordered another. After more than two months of treatment with "The Best Hand Cream in the USA," I am disappointed (Robanda makes excellent products in general). I know that these spots can be eliminated (Pond's "Clarant B3 Moisturizing Cream" does a nice job, but I haven't used it religiously). And they can be plumped and lightened (I use Ole Henriksen's facial creams on my hands now). But Robanda? Too much hype, too few results.

  • Paula's Choice RESIST Pure Radiance Skin Brightening Treatment

Paula's Choice is a very reputable company with prime, highly effective ingredients. I love the line and the advice Paula gives, especially via her videos as well as in her books and online site. I have been bothered with a few tiny brown spots on my cheek and a smattering on one hand. I tried several products, but nothing has made them disappear completely (the one which worked best was Pond's "Clarant B3 Moisturizing Cream"). Paula proclaims: "This technologically advanced brightening formula contains a proprietary complex of proven vitamin- and plant-based ingredients that fade brown spots and refine skin tone so you'll have a more radiance and youthful appearance." The ingredients to which she refers are wonderful: Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, and Mulberry and Licorice Extracts and Niacinamide (the chief elements to break down and clear away discolorations of any sort, as they inhibit melanin production). It is a silky, lightweight creme. I was surprised that the tube was so small for the price ($26.95), but I assumed that it was so powerful that I wouldn't need a larger size. I used it exactly as directed on my face and on my hand for over a month. It is a smooth, slightly opaque creme with no scent very easy to wear. The tube makes it easy to dispense just the perfect amount. The problem? My brown spots did NOT disappear. I am very fair and the spots are not dark at all (I'm probably the only person who notices them and by which they are bothered). After I finished the first tube, I (wrongly) assumed that the fault had to lie with me, that this product absolutely, positively had to work as proclaimed, and so I purchased another. I used it in its entirety, and the discolorations remain(!). I hate to give a low rating to an item from such a prominent, wonderful company, but we tell the truth at Total Beauty.
