I am highly careful with my teeth. My mother took an antibiotic, Tetracycline, when she was pregnant with me. The doctor told her it would not harm her baby, but my adult teeth came in with just a tad of enamel and composed mainly dentin (which is yellow by nature). I have spent most of my life with peroxide and baking soda trying to make my smile more pleasing. Colgate Optic White does definitely whiten my teeth very well; I noted in the ingredients that it contains hydrogen peroxide. I love the flavor and will continue to use it. My husband is a huge fan as well.

Normally I shy away from cream eye shadows, but I tried Tarte's "Lock and Roll" simply because of my love for the brand. I bought two shades--"Sandstone," a great lightening hue for an all-over day look or a base for more color; and "Gunmental," a grey/taupe with a pink/amethyst undertone. These colors are amazing; use the roller ball side to swipe on shadow wherever you like. Employ the delicate brush as a liner. No matter how much precipitation there is, how long you have to work, how much you dance, or how much you may perspire, these gorgeous colors will stay "locked" in please, leaving you gorgeous!

I was anxious to try Lush's "Toothy Tabs" mainly because of the novelty. I bought boxes in several flavors. Some flavors are not very flavorful, but I do love "Breath of God." It is a mix of fennel (in the parsley family, which cleans breath like nothing else), vanilla, and sandalwood. You crush a tablet between your front teeth and then begin brushing as you would with toothpaste (obviously, with a wet toothbrush). This is a "powdered" form of toothpaste, conveniently packed in a small box for on-the-go use, and works wonders. This also contains baking soda (what works better for clean teeth?), cream of tartar, glycerin, and kaolin. There is kaolin in another toothpaste I use--"Dentisse." It gently polishes stains away and leaves your breath divine (no pun intended, really).

I turn to this body mist especially in the summer, and it keeps on going as long as I do. The scents are absolutely lovely!

This works beautifully to comb through lashes while applying mascara so that any clumps disappear and lashes are accentuated. It also keeps browns in line in a beautiful and ridiculously inexpensive way. I love ELF!

This is a dense, wonderful brush for applying facial powders. I normally use a sponge when I put on Lancome's "Dual Finish Versatile Powder Foundation," but there is a decided, more perfected appearance when I use this brush. It is great for buffing on a setting powder like Hourglass Cosmetic's "Ambient Lighting Powders," as long you remember to use a light touch. How can you possibly go wrong with $3.00 for a sleek, attractive, effective brush? You can't!

Sometimes I wonder how many "good" ingredients skin absorbs in a cleanser. And then I realize how quickly you can do harm with products containing alcohol or strong cleaning agents. I reviewed Mirenésse's "Power Lift Multi-Action Silk Cleanser" along with their "Power Lift Plus Day Treatment Cream." This lush cream purifier contains organic lavender oil, organic macadamia oil, hyaluronic acid, and organic witch hazel extract. It is ideal for even the most sensitive skin. I especially enjoy using it in the evening, when I gently massage it in for about a minute and then allow the ingredients to penetrate for a few more moments. Instructions say to remove with cotton balls or a warm, wet cloth, and I prefer the cloth. It gets rid of even the heaviest, waterproof eye makeup and cheek and lip stains while leaving a silk-like finish to your complexion. Don't expect a "squeaky clean" feel after this. Skin will be cleansed, to be sure, but the finish will be one you will find yourself touching over and over again (and so will your significant other). Most people would assume this is meant only for someone with dry skin, but lipids bond together and it is perfect for women (and men) with oily skin as well, as every bit of deep-down debris is removed. It is exceptionally gentle and will never sting eyes.

This is another product sent to me by a cosmetic company which asked me to critique it. I always use products consistently and according to directions before I review them, and I LIKE IT! Mirenesse "Power Lift Plus Day Treatment Cream" is a multi-tasker. The rich, silky cream can be used as a moisturizer, or it can be left on as a treatment mask. Potent key ingredients include: Micro collagen and elastin, squalane, hyaluronic acid, organic rose water, organic macadamia oil, panthenol, willow bark extract, and Vitamin E. It is ideal for skin which appears sagging or stressed, with possible uneven patches and discolorations. This Australian formula works quickly to plump skin, conceal any lines and wrinkles, deeply hydrate, brighten, and rejuvenate. Directions are to use twice daily or once as a mask. I find it too thick for wear under makeup. I prefer to apply a relatively thick layer over my face weekly before bed and relax as it takes effect. Then I tissue off the excess and sleep with some of the product still on my face. On other nights, I use the cream alone. Once more, I won't give it the ten stars it does indeed deserve because of the steep price--$69.50 (however, I did see a version on Amazon recently which retails for $27.90 and I think I'll snatch that deal).

My husband still tells stories of when he first used deodorant as a young boy--he borrowed his mother's Avon "Perfumed Liquid Deodorant," loved the smell, and we have had it in our home ever since. I tend to use fragrance-free Certain Dri most often, but I now find myself adding some of this fragrant protectant on top of that because I love the scent.

A cosmetic company sent me a bottle of Bliss' "Peeling Groovy" to critique. Recently Total Beauty did an article on new overnight treatments, and this is one of them. This is a mix of a polyamino sugar condensate, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), and magnesium, potassium, and calcium chloride in a unique, gentle, colorless gel. It contains moisture-magnetizing amino acids instead of AHA's, which can sometimes irritate. You apply three to four pumps on a cleansed face, neck, and décolletage (I like to include the back of my hands as well and--at times--my arms). Wait at least five minutes before applying your regular moisturizer (Bliss makes excellent moisturizers, from serums to creams, under the name "The Youth as We Know It"). As you sleep, the ingredients go to work to tenderly exfoliate, retexturize skin, brighten your complexion, lighten annoying dark spots, and reduce the look of fine lines and creases and enlarged pores. My skin is transformed in the morning--this ABSOLUTELY WORKS! The parentheses-likes lines around my mouth are greatly blurred; pores are visibly smaller. My complexion is luminous, clear, and extremely soft. If you are plagued by breakouts, these can be inhibited by using this gel (read this again, please). The only reason I am not giving this ten stars (I would give it a hundred if I were able) is because it is cost-prohibitive, at $65.00 for a one-ounce bottle (that's the only part that hurts!).
