    Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster

    Incredible Shine, Color, and Wear

I laughed out loud when Tarte introduced their LipSurgence™ Lip Tints. The claim of increasing lips' moisture content by 6000% on a cellular level sounded completely absurd. What tint could do that? I was intrigued by the colors--so gorgeous--and the fact that this contains peppermint oil for a cooling tingle, jojoba seed oil for moisture, and Vitamins C and E to prevent premature signs of aging. So I tried one--and fell completely in love! This is a completely natural product, as are all of Tarte's, free of parabens, sulfates, petro-chemicals, and synthetic dyes and fragrances. They glide on easily for a natural color that lasts all day, along with a truly moistured, hydrated feeling. I was able to get five of them in a bonus kit from Sephora and loved it. I hope they bring this offer back. Meanwhile, I just keep collecting shades!

  • Ralph Lauren Ralph Wild Eau de Toilette Spray

"Ralph" by Ralph Lauren is a fun, flirty, spring-summer scent, delightful in every way! Key notes are apple tree leaves (how much fun is that?), yellow freesia, Italian mandarin, Japanese loquat, osmanthus, magnolia, linden blossom flower, purple freesia, boronia, musk, and white orris. Irresistible!

    Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick

Gorgeous Shades with a Lovely Feel

I've used Revlon's "Super Lustrous Lipstick" since I was a teenager. The color range is amazing. Some of the hues are famous--like "Cherries in the Snow," supposedly created for Liz Taylor. I love many of the shades, especially "Pink in the Afternoon" and "Fire and Ice" and "Wine with Everything" when I want more drama. Revlon has a LiquiSilk™ formula with mega-moisturizers to seal in color and softness. It does wear for a long time and feels luxurious!

  • Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Candlelight Powder

Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Candlelight Powder

A Soft, Radiant Glow with Benefits

Rarely do the ingredients in a product match the results you receive. I purchased Too Faced's "Absolutely Invisible Candlelight Powder" because I love a soft glow, a radiant finish. This powder provides that for me. It is not heavy or cakey in any way. It is undetectable, except for occasional flecks of pure gold. Coverage is totally buildable. Your complexion looks like you are seated at a romantic restaurant with a single candle in the middle of the table for light. I prefer to use a big, fluffy brush (although the applicator sponge is of good quality, as is the compact itself) and add more as I want and where I want--on cheekbones, sometimes over the bridge of my nose, on my chin, etc. Somehow it helps to conceal dark circles, blemishes, and discolorations and focuses attention on your best features. This is a powder to be cherished and used again and again. It blurs imperfections and leaves you flawless. Ingredients? Pure gold, which has been touted to tighten skin and reduce the appearance of imperfections; Vitamin C adds clarity and generates collagen; aloe vera extract provides important calming, soothing effects and aids in the restoration of moisture; pomegranate extract, an antioxidant, promotes smooth, glowing skin; chamomile calms and soothes as well, especially helpful for sensitive skin; silica fills in fine lines and creases; soybean oils moisturizes, and Vitamin E, another antioxidant, protects and acts as a moisture magnet for skin. This much beauty for $30.00? Definitely worth it!

  • Jonathan Product IB Revitalizer Overnight Oil Treatment Spray

I am still tightly holding on to some of Jonathan "IB Revitalizer Overnight Oil Treatment Spray" containers I bought awhile ago. I was first asked to test this product for an online beauty site and fell in love, so I purchased several. This was when I was first trying to get my hair back in shape after taking large doses of injected and oral Prednisone for pain, which caused my hair to thin, break, and lose its shine. This product has been one of the key reasons why my hair has rebounded and is returning to its normal healthy self! The product uses ionic balance technology to revitalize the scalp and maintain optimum hair health. Tourmaline and amethyst crystals are included to improve shine, smoothness, and manageability. Precious oils--Moroccan argan and macadamia nut--deeply hydrate, soften, and condition. Moreover, potent antioxidants (morings seed and chardonnay extracts) protect hair against the fading of color, UVA/UVB damage, and environmental pollutants and stresses. A triple-blend of proteins--sweet almond, rice, and soy protein--smooth and strengthen damaged cuticles. In order to get the full benefit out of this, please quit washing your hair daily (it only weakens it). Make friends with dry shampoo. When you do shampoo, use a gentle, sulfate-free product and cool water. Buy an ionic hairdryer with a diffuser, or let your hair air-dry whenever possible. Sleep on a satin pillowcase, as it causes less friction and breakage. And beware straightening and curling irons. This can be used in a number of ways. Shake well before using. Then mist onto scalp and hair, section by section, until hair is evenly coated. Wait twenty to thirty minutes before rinsing. The best way to use it is to apply and leave on overnight while you sleep (I suggest using a plastic shower cap and a clean towel to protect your pillowcase). Wash out well in the morning. You will see deeply renewed, bouncy, shiny, silky hair once again!

  • Carmex Original Carmex Stick

When I first started dating my husband many years ago, he was wondering why I was applying a regular lip balm (can't recall what I used). I asked what he used. He plays the trumpet and said that only medicated products keep your pout in condition to keep playing without having skin torn from them. I took that to heart and started buying Blistex and Carmex®. Carmex® was invented in the 1930s and sold to pharmacists for those suffering from chapped lips and cold sores. I LOVE it! It's one of the few I can apply overnight and still have on my lips in the morning. It has an SPF of 15 (yes!). Moisturizers in this little powerhouse of a tube include petrolatum, cocoa seed butter, candelilla wax, paraffin, beeswax, and meadowfoam seed oil. Salicylic acid exfoliates, while camphor gives a gentle tingle, reminding you that it's working

  • Bliss The Youth As We Know It Anti-Aging Night Cream

Bliss The Youth As We Know It Anti-Aging Night Cream

    Silky Cream for Incredible Moisture

I've said before that I can be very fickle when it comes to skin care regimens. I once exclusively used Bliss products (that lasted about six months until I became distracted by other brands). I like to use it in conjunction with their "Peelin' Groovy," a great overnight product which you use once or twice weekly to gently exfoliate, retexturize skin, get rid of annoying brown spots, and overall lighten your complexion. The moisturizer I use over this is their powerful "The Youth As We Know It" night cream. Let me emphasize that I didn't quit Bliss because I wasn't satisfied--I'll definitely go back, as this line WORKS! This moisturizer is heavenly. The texture is silky-soft, a pleasure to use. They make bold claims when they tout: "Not only does this potent PM potion deliver all the age-battling benefits of The Youth As We Know It Moisture Cream (plumping, retexturizing, brightening, and visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines, to name a few), it's made with twice the active wrinkle fighting power and half the weight. Its feather-light texture sinks deep into skin to pack a serious age-defying punch - so get ready to wake up with the skin of your 'dreams'." The ingredients are to be taken very seriously--shea butter, glycerin, black tea ferment, soybean seed extract, tocopherol (basically, Vitamin E), sodium hyaluronate, sea water, hydrogenated vegetable oil, grape seed and sugar cane extract, and orange, lemon, and sugar maple extracts. The fruit extracts are invigorating, purifying, soothing, and moisturizing. Shea butter and glycerin are deeply hydrating, plumping your skin's cells and blurring lines and creases. Sodium hyaluronate absorbs and stores moisture, lubricates, and is a filter for inflammatory molecules. Apply this cream over face and throat (and hands--be sure to include age-showing hands). You will find yourself touching your baby-soft skin again and again and will be astounded at the way any furrows are softened or disguised completely. This is not getting ten stars simply because of the price--$79.00. Come on, Bliss, it's a magnificent formula, but I do believe you can offer it more cheaply.

  • Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II

I've been using this on and off for fifteen years, and my opinion at this point is that it doesn't work nearly as well as it promises. It claims to be "advanced" because of the increased silicone content over the original version. Another reason for the "advanced" name is that it contains a larger amount of antioxidants, along with nature's moisture magnet, hyaluronic acid. When I do use this, I use it consistently. Yes, my skin is softened, but there is no "dramatic reduction in the major signs of visible aging, day after day, month after month," as Estèe Lauder promises. I'm stunned at the price of this, especially with the lack of results.
