I simply couldn't resist this compact in "Amethyst Ablazed" and "Forest Fury." They are perfectly complementary, highly (emphasis on highly here) shimmering shadows. Be sure you know that before you apply so that you have the right tools ready to take advantage of the vibrant hues. I didn't give this ten stars because it can be a little too much "oomph" for some situations. I did wear the greens to a county fair on a very hot, humid day. Even my wide-brimmed hat straw summer was wilting, but my shadows were still fresh.

My lips love Kiss My Face's "Sheer Organic Shimmers." They have gentle shimmer from natural mineral color, a luscious peppermint/vanilla flavor, and are full of good ingredients: Organic shea butter and Vitamin E (both of which help to nourish and protect), organic sunflower oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera leaf juice. They glide on and last a few hours before you need to reapply.

The powders I use are chosen carefully, as too many can be aging and drying. I was fascinated when Physician's Formula came out with "CoverToxTen50" powder specifically to disguise wrinkles, firm skin, and help disguise age spots. The chemistry made sense: Physician's Formula uses GABA, a muscle relaxant naturally occurring in the body, to calm facial muscles (much like the way BOTOX works). BV-OSC™, an active form of Vitamin C, helps to encourage the synthesis of collagen, which keeps skin firm. The brush which comes with the compact isn't highly useful, so I substituted a kabuki brush instead and worked this over my complexion in circles. I liked the coverage (gentle radiance), and there was a softening of some of the furrows just beginning to appear. Physician's Formula claims that there is a 50% improvement in five minutes (and I saw it). After ten days of continuous use, skin is 90% visibly smoother. I love this and keep it in my vanity and in my purse.

I am so glad that I just purchased Benefit's "Sugarbomb" blush for spring and summer. Benefit playfully calls it a "sugar rush flush." The colors are so refreshing, so feminine, and they work perfectly together--rose, shimmering pink, soft plum, and peach create an ultra-feminine and ultra-sexy, natural glow!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30
A Basic Skin Moisturizer--That's It
Last year, I was having a hard time finding a moisturizer which wasn't too heavy under makeup. I saw lots of press for Aveeno®'s "Positively Radiant™ Daily Moisturizer." For about $13.00, the price was reasonable. I loved the fact that it has an SPF factor of 15 to protect precious skin from UVA/UVB rays. I was also impressed that this is oil-free, hypoallergenic, and noncomedogenic. Aveeno® claims that natural light diffusers go to work to naturally even out skin's texture and tone and immediately reflect light, drawing attention away from imperfections and giving a new radiance. Yes, it does absorb into your complexion quickly and well. There are some softening benefits. Aside from that, there was no change in the texture, tone, or radiance. I am annoyed at the hype around this moisturizer, especially when products like Ole Henriksen's "Sheer Transformation" do impart a glow, brighten skin, and create a definitely noticeable clarity. I would not purchase this again.

For about $3.00, Milani offers nail polishes in every kind of finish--from "Natural Touch Neutrals" to "Neons" and ultra-glimmering shades. They go on smoothly and wear fairly well as long as you use a great base and top coat. I think it's an irresistible deal!

The consistency of this lip pencil made lining my lips a dream! I love the neutral shade. You can use to line or, as DuWop suggests, fill in your entire pout with the color. It has plumping properties and is ultra-moisturizing.

I couldn't wait to try Liptini's "Shimmering Lip and Cheek Tint." The colors are sumptuous. At first the stain feels great when applied on your lips with the doe-foot applicator, but it soon dries and is uncomfortable. You will find yourself needing to hydrate with a great gloss. Application on my cheeks was next to impossible until I mixed it with moisturizer. Even then, the finish was streaky at best. And the color doesn't wear long on my lips at all. What is all the fuss about?

I love Clinique's "Almost Lipstick" for times when I don't want a heavy feel on my lips, but I always need color. My favorite shade will always be "Black Honey." Using a lipstick brush does extend the wear. It is moisturizing, glossy, and has a natural look. I'm always carrying it with me.

I laughed out loud when Tarte introduced their LipSurgence™ Lip Tints. The claim of increasing lips' moisture content by 6000% on a cellular level sounded completely absurd. What tint could do that? I was intrigued by the colors--so gorgeous--and the fact that this contains peppermint oil for a cooling tingle, jojoba seed oil for moisture, and Vitamins C and E to prevent premature signs of aging. So I tried one--and fell completely in love! This is a completely natural product, as are all of Tarte's, free of parabens, sulfates, petro-chemicals, and synthetic dyes and fragrances. They glide on easily for a natural color that lasts all day, along with a truly moistured, hydrated feeling. I was able to get five of them in a bonus kit from Sephora and loved it. I hope they bring this offer back. Meanwhile, I just keep collecting shades!
