Don't be fooled by these little pots--they contain more color than most large compacts. I love these shadows; the colors are unique and ultimately wearable. I especially appreciate the fact that they can be worn wet or dry--be prepared for all-out glamour when used wet. The staying power is very strong. Bourjois is glamour at its best.

Lancome "L'Absolu Rouge" Lipstick has been in my purse for more than twenty years. The shades are amazing. My beloved mother and I are/were both "hooked" on "Blush Classique" (soft pink blush) and "Pink Sapphire" (a pink with a blue-lavender base which makes teeth appear whiter). The formula is infused with moisture-boosting Pro-Xylane™, which keeps your pout ultimately comfortable. Antioxidant Vitamin E and SPF 12 protect lips from damage. The shades glide on easily and wear a long time. There is a hard-to-describe, pleasant scent which I love. I also love the fact that my lips definitely seem to benefit from wear of this product; the more I use it, the less I need to turn to lip balms, even in cold weather. Ten DEFINITE stars!

Benefit has created an iconic product with the "High Beam" illuminator. I've tried illuminators from a huge number of companies and in a large range of shades, but this angelic pink gives the perfect, natural, dewy finish for my fair complexion. I love the fact that I can use it on certain areas, such as cheekbones, to bring them out, or mix with foundation for a tender all-over glow. In the summer, I don't sport a tan (I quit tanning and tanning beds years ago to prevent skin damage). But this gives me a radiance which can compete with all of the bronzed goddesses who are parading around at this time of year.

Generally, lipstick is equated with feminity, and few lipsticks can trump Estèe Lauder's "Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick." The range of shades is overwhelming, but so much fun--I have "Rich Berry," "Dune Rose," and "Apricot Sun" (a vibrant but fun and totally wearable color for summer months). You can choose from cream, shimmer, or glittery finishes. It is a great cream with substance, keeping it in place for a long time. It doesn't cake at all but stays moist on your mouth. I particularly love the multi-grooved gold case. When you pull this out for a touch-up, it just feels divine. Another winner from Estèe Lauder!

I'm probably one of the five people on the planet who doesn't think the Nars blush by the same name is wonderful--I find it so-so. This illuminator is a different story. I like that fact that it can be used all over your face, neck, shoulders, and décolletage, as well as mixed with moisturizer or simply dotted where you want a little added glow. The peach-gold sheen is stunning.

I'm always a sucker for pinks and roses. Milani's "Glitzy Gloss" comes in an impressive, bulbous container with a gold top. The color is a flattering mauve, with a delectable berry scent. It goes on smoothly and is never tacky. Milani suggests that, for extended wear, you begin at the center of your top and bottom lips and work outward, using a coordinated Milani liner pencil to fill in your lips. It is glam, girly, gorgeous!

Very few Tarte products pass through my hands which I don't love, but their "Smooth Operator Illuminating Serum" is one which I'm sorry I purchased. It is replete with skin-loving ingredients, but I was hesitant to use it on my very fair skin. It was creamy, but the color came off looking artificial, with far too much of an orange base. I would try it over tanned skin, but I no longer tan (quit the sun and tanning beds years ago). I would not repurchase this again.

Totally Effective and Very Gentle
Yes, the makeup removers by Estèe Lauder and Lancome are wonderful, but so is Neutrogena's "Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover" at a fantastic price--about $8.00! The totally non-oily liquid is activated when shaken. It removes even the most stubborn, waterproof makeup in the most gentle, refreshing way. I love it to take off the last of all-day cheek and lip stains as well.

Stila surprises with these shadows--these are some very lush, dramatic, attention-drawing shades! They can be used wet or dry. Coverage is great and wear is nearly endless. I especially love "Golden Glow" (pure gold, deep bronze, and ivory) in the winter around Christmas--the hues are so festive. On the other hand, they lend a very sultry look in the summer, especially against a faux tan. These shadows are baked on a terra cotta dish for the ultimate in application and blendability. Pure luxury!
