While I am often drawn to Stila products because their pastel palette suits my pale skin, I am usually disappointed by Stila's lackluster quality and inexplicably high price point. These lipsticks, however, are worth every penny. In need of a good berry, I purchased Sonya. It delivered a jewel-toned lip that makes my blue eyes glow, but it is subtle enough to wear to my buttoned-down office. Because I was pleased not just with the color but the overall product--creamy, shiny, long-lasting, and packaged in a small silver case--I plan on purchasing more.

I admit that I bought this hairspray (the one with the UV filter) because I dug the art deco, 70's-style tall gold bottle with the drawing of the 80's glamour model on the front. I'm glad I did, because although this is a bit pricey for a drugstore hairspray, it is in fact excellent. I use it after I flat-iron to hold my straight style all day, without the usual stiffness, flatness, or lack of shine that hairsprays usually impart. The good news for busy (and lazy) people is that this hairspray actually holds my style for two days. On day two, I wake up, brush my hair, and I'm good to go. The downsides? Elnett smells. Stinks, even. I also don't like that this hairspray is only available as an aerosol, which is damaging to the environment.

I docked Nars Duo Eyeshadow one star because of how expensive it product is, but the color selection and high quality keep luring me back. The colors (and the combinations they've been arranged in) are stunning. I like that you can use them both or individually. This eyeshadow won't crease, migrate, or wear off, but it will blend easily and look fabulous!

I won't waste space lauding this lipstick's many virtues since everyone else has done that and done it quite well (note: it really is the perfect lipstick). What I'm excited about is Damage, which I bought today. Purple has always been "my color," but I've never found a purple lipstick that looks like it was made for adults with corporate jobs. Hooray for Nars! I finally found a classy, natural-looking purple. Nars's website describes Damage as "muted grape," but it's really a shiny lilac with neutral undertones that cancel out any obvious purple. I'm also smitten with the ubiquitous Dolce Vita, which gives me a perfectly pink pout. You really should check out Nars's lipsticks--they're beautiful.

I hesitated to buy this because of the price, but it was the only eye cream I could find that wasn't for tightening bags, smoothing wrinkles, etc. I'm only 26, so I just wanted something to dose my dry eye area with moisture and antioxidants. Similar moisturizers (ahem, Bobbi Brown and Kiehl's) stung and weren't very moisturizing. Since using this, my eye area has been much more comfortable, and my concealer lasts almost all day without caking, creasing, and flaking off. I even ditched my makeup primer. At night, I layer this under a richer eye cream so that I can wake up to extra bright eyes. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to claims of lightening under eye circles.

As far as foundation primers go, Smashbox's is far superior to Laura Geller's. However, this one works if you have any serious facial issues. I took my nose ring out for good over a year ago, but I still have an unsightly hole in my nostril. I don't have any major qualms about my skin, so I've been using the free sample I received to (literally) spackle my former piercing. Will I purchase the full size when my sample runs out? No. But it's cool while it lasts.

I searched high and low for a serum. My favorite was Nude's, but the price was prohibitive. Boots's serums are available at Target and CVS and are just as good or better than anything I tried at Sephora. I settled on Protect & Perfect because it prevents free radical damage. I also like the silky smooth texture and fast absorbancy. I wear it underneath moistuizer and it never feels heavy or greasy, nor does it cause breakouts. I should mention that I'm only 26, and have nice skin. Therefore, I'm not concerned about diminishing fine lines and wrinkles or reversing sun damage, I'm more interested in preventing them, and I believe that this is the product to do that.

The good: Aside from a minor prickling sensation, this product gave me pain-free hair removal. It's easy to use and the process is quick. The directions said not to use it on your eyebrows, but I did anyway and even my sensitive skin didn't get red or break out. The bad: It's still a hair removal cream. It smells nasty and didn't get some of the thicker hairs on my brow. But it's over in three minutes, which puts this product at the top of my depilatory list.

I got this at Nordstrom Rack for $4.00. It is a reasonably effective remover that doesn't leave a residue. Most of the time it stings, and sometimes it can leave red blotches around my eyes. Not good. The bottle is adorable and so is the pink-toned product, but even $4.00 is too much to spend on pain.

This mascara is a lot like Clinique Naturally Glossy mascara. I revere both for their no-clump, no-flake, no-drying-out-my-lashes formula. Both look natural. Where More Than Mascara trumps Naturally Glossy is its ability to lengthen. More Than Mascara makes my lashes look uber long and flirty. If More Than Mascara didn't leave smudges under my eyes after only a few hours of wear, I'd say it was the perfect mascara.
