It's odd that there are so few alcohol-free toners because toners with alcohol are not good for any skin type. Sephora has some good ones, but I like Boots' because it's an excellent toner at a fair price--you can get at Target. I use it after washing my face to remove any extra traces of dirt and make up. It makes my skin feel clean and refreshed, and the pink liquid looks pretty in my bathroom.

The price is prohibitively expensive, but the fair-skinned will probably find it worth it. I do. I was bummed when my derm informed me that I need to be wearing SPF 30 or above on my face everyday; my favorite moisturizers are all SPF 15. Everything in the SPF 30+ range smelled like sunscreen, felt greasy and clogged my pores. Not so with Clarins Day Screen! I smooth this over my moisturizer and although it smells odd at first, it quickly absorbs, leaving my skin looking perfectly normal. There are a lot of anti-aging products out there, but a good SPF and smart sun habits are really the best defense.

I received a free one of these when I bought two solid shampoos online. Otherwise, I would have just stuck with Ziploc baggies or Tupperwear. Not as chic, but cheaper. Those with limited bathroom space will be annoyed by the convex shape of the lid, making these difficult to stack. You'll also notice that you have to use your shampoo puck a few times before it fits in the tin. Remember to put only dry pucks in the tin, otherwise they'll turn to mush.

Lush's massage bars distribute a fragrant layer of massage oil when rubbed on skin. They make for a great massage, and a great moisturizer. I'd originally purchased Wiccy for my sore muscles, but I enjoyed its softening effects on my skin so much I purchased Fever, which I use as a moisturizer. I keep it in my bag and rub it on dry spots for instant relief. It doesn't feel too oily, it smells great, and it works like a dream.

I have never purchased the same shower gel twice. Every one I have ever used leaves a residue, so I don't feel clean after washing. After washing, I scratch my nails along my thigh. ALWAYS, there is a bunch of junk under my nails. So I switched to soap. No more residue under my nails (or on my body), but I missed the moisturizing benefits of shower gels. So I scooped up small bottles of Tramp, Sonic Death Monkey, and Flying Fox when I visited a Lush store. I love them all. Each has a distinct scent, and all leave me totally clean. While not exactly the most moisturizing, these do dry out my skin. I should also point out that the scents are not fake in the way that most brands' are. For example, I love coffee, but I hate coffee-smelling things. I surprised myself by loving the sweet, rich, true scent of Sonic Death Monkey. Ditto Flying Fox, which eschews the typical sickly sweet floral scent (the hallmark of most synthetic fragrances) in favor of a heady bouquet of jasmine. When I use FF, I'd swear there is a jasmine plant flowering outside my bathroom window. I have long poo-poo'd patchouli as smelling "dirty." Usually, it does. But the way it is used in Tramp is sexy and mysterious.

Lush junkies use this on their cuticles, knees, elbows, and even as pomade. You can also use it as a heavy duty hand cream, but it's so greasy you can barely operate a pencil after doing so. Lemony Flutter smells lovely and really does soften cuticles, but there are other products out there that do the same thing for a lot less money. Normally I'll fork over the extra cash for Lush products, but this one didn't make the cut.

Very few prestige brands offer a decent line of matte shadows, which is a pity because they are so fresh and pretty when done right. Stila and Urban Decay have good mattes, but the colors are extremely limited. Not so Laura Mercier, who proffers a beautiful line of matte shades. These little shadows won't crease, migrate, or wear off before you take them off. They are well worth the high price tag.

I purchased this in Poppy and immediately went back and purchased three more colors (Baked Earth, Brown Sugar, and Black Orchid). Laura Mercier is a genius when it comes to flattering colors and this "stickgloss" goes on moist sheer but with a bright pop of color. It is long-lasting and smells good. In other words, Stickgloss really does combine the best qualities of lipgloss and lipstick, and leaves their respective bad qualities behind.

There are a lot of good things about this sunscreen: it smells yummy (no sunscreen smell), it absorbs quickly, and it is matte. The downside is that it is extremely thick and tacky, a problem that is mitigated by its quick absorption. Because it is so thick, I wish it were more moisturizing so I wouldn't have to layer it with moisturizer.

I was thrilled to discover Lush's Dusting Powders. I had long used Gold Bond powder to keep my body dry during So Cal's steamy summer months. GB made me smell like an old man, but if I didn't use it the excess sweat would drive me crazy. Silky Underwear keeps me dry and smells so good I want to bathe in it, and it keeps me dry and smelling good. I love to sprinkle it on fresh sheets before I go to bed at night.
