    Lush American Cream

    Fine hair's bff

People with colored hair may want to avoid this conditioner; it kicked my color down a notch after just one use. But! I balanced my diminished color against the otherwise AMAZING results of this conditioner, and decided to keep using it. Never has my fine, dry, limp, generally blah hair looked or felt so good. I literally cannot keep my hands away from my scalp and my eyes away from a mirror. After washing with LUSH's Ultimate Shine solid shampoo, conditioning with this, and letting my pixie cut air dry, my hair was shiny, volumized, and full of texture. When I went to work, everyone kept complimenting my "new haicut," even though the only thing different was my conditioner.

    Stila Natural Finish Oil-Free Makeup

    The formula is too thin

This foundation is the only one that rivals Prescriptives' foundations for HG status. The finish is lovely: dewy without being oily, and matte without being flat. Nevertheless, I am returning my bottle. This foundation is very thin, and it seemed to absorb, like a lotion, rather than rest on my skin and hide complexion flaws.

    Pureology NanoGlaze

    Is this necessary?

NanoGlaze isn't awful, it's just redundant. All of the wonderful things it claims to do can be acheived with other products for a lot less money. When I used NanoGlaze, I didn't notice any difference in my hair, probably because I already had my "lightweight, long lasting hold, brilliant shine and incredible slip with a no product feel" bases covered with my usual products.

  • Olay Quench In-Shower Body Lotion
    2.0

    Olay Quench In-Shower Body Lotion

A nice idea, but it doesn't work

I loathe the slimy feel of traditional body lotion, and how long it takes to apply. And then you have to wait for it to absorb before you get dressed. So when I first saw this product at Target, I thought it was a great idea. Sadly, it didn't moisturize me any more than an average shower gel, and it was difficult to apply all over in my narrow shower stall. The strong artificial frangrance gave me a bit of a headache. I've since discovered Lush's body butters, which do the same thing but they do it better.

TRESemme Thermal Creations Curl Activator Spray

Apparently I'm the only one who thinks this blows

Seriously, did I get a bad batch or something? I heard such raves about this and the price was so good I was itching to give it a try. Maybe it was my crappy curling iron, but this Curl Activator Spray did absolutely nothing to encourage curl in my wavy hair. Actually, it did less than nothing. It left my hair straight and dull with little kinks at the end. Not cool!

  • Estee Lauder AeroMatte Ultralucent Pressed Powder

Estee Lauder AeroMatte Ultralucent Pressed Powder

Dial down shine with high-quality powder

Those who value their portability will be annoyed by Estee Lauder's clunky packaging. And just about everyone will want to ditch the applicator AeroMatte comes with and use a large brush instead. Packaging considerations aside, AeroMatte is finely-milled pressed powder that absorbs oil without revealing that you're wearing anything at all on your face.

  • Lush Ocean Salt Facial & Body Scrub

Lush Ocean Salt Facial & Body Scrub

Great exfoliant for face and body

I get excited about using this every time I pop it open: it smells like a margarita. Ocean Salt contains large chunks of salt suspended in a creamy base. Adjust the amount of water you use with it to make it stronger or weaker. My boyfriend goes full strength, every day on his oily, conjested skin. I dilute it and use it as a gentle exfoliator 2 -3 times a week. My skin is very dry, so I use it to remove dead skin without overdrying. It makes my skin look fabulous. Unless you want to use this salty scrub all over, you can opt for the smaller tub; a little goes a long way.

  • Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle Serum

Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle Serum

Gave me longer, stronger, healthier nails

While my nails didn't get "30% longer" as the product claims, there was a noticable difference in length. What I like most about this product is that it made my flimsy nails stronger and healthier, so they didn't break or bend when they reached a certain length. Be sure you use this only in a well-ventilated area. The fumes are strong. So strong they burned my throat and made my eyes water.

    Lush Deodorants

A natural deodorant that actually works

Aromarant surprised me by actually working. A Lush SA gave me a sample to try at home because I was skeptical. It works! It's not bullet-proof, but neither is the prescription anti-perspirent/deodorant I typically have to use (yes, I sweat that much). Aromarant has seen me through two days of sunny So Cal weather: one day in a tank top and one day in a long-sleeved cotton top. For extra protection, I dust a little bit of Silky Underwear (a Lush body powder) over Aromarant.

  • L'Oreal Paris True Match Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner

These lip conditioners share a fatal flaw with Stila's lip glazes: packaging that stands between you and gloss application. You have to click the wheel to get the product going, and it's easy to over-distribute because it takes for-ev-er for the gloss to migrate to the tip. If you have the patience for this, these conditioners do come in a pretty array of spring colors. They offer just a hint of shimmery color that goes on very shiny and lasts a decent amount of time.
