Perfumes smell differently on different people, so don't take my 4-star review too seriously if you really want to give this a go; Brit just didn't work for me. I was drawn to the plaid, modern bottle and the sparkling opening note of pear. Once the scent died down, however, it was overwhelmingly vanilla in a food-y way, not in a sexy way. I ended up purchasing Gaultier's Classique, which also has a base of vanilla, but it's not overpowering.

Classique is classic without being old-fashioned. I sampled several perfumes over two weeks to find a signature fragrance for winter, and I kept coming back to this until I finally broke down and bought it. Perfume smells different on everyone, and when I spritzed Classique on a piece of paper I didn't like it; when I tried it on my wrist, I was in love. My favorite aspect of this scent is the oh-so-subtle hint of vanilla. The vanilla gives it just enough warmth without smelling too foody or sweet. The curvy bottle with its frosted garters looks so pretty on my dresser!

Nivea creme is thick, cheap, and absorbs quickly, so you can go right back to operating heavy machinery after you've applied it. The smell, however, keeps me from being excited about this product. It smells like an old lady.

The cosmetics industry is convinced that yellow neutralizes red, and they keep coming up with products like this one when the only thing that consistently works is to cover redness with regular old foundation. Clinique's Redness Solutions Mineral Powder deserves props for its superfine texture, but all it does is cover up the redness, so your red spots become yellow. It blended better than most of its ilk, but overall it's another "redness relief" dud.

I hate to crash the Lovefest, but I hate Fresh, and this product further justified my feelings. While I will pay premium for high-quality products, Fresh should be chilling next to Neutrogena at CVS. Fresh charges an exhorbitant amount of money for average and sub-par products. Exhibit A: Fresh Sugar Hand Treatment. I've always had a sweet tooth, so I couldn't resist giving this hand cream a spin on a recent Sephora jaunt. It felt slippery and didn't absorb well, which actually worked out well for me because I needed to immediately wipe it off to keep from gagging on the sour dairy smell. The packaging is pretty and modern, but Fresh needs to get over itself.

I chose this over Urban Decay's cult eye shadow primer to avoid its rumored packaging problems. I use Shadow Insurance on days when I'm wearing two distinct colors on my lids or something with sparkle or glitter, to keep it from migrating. In those instances this product delivers on its promise, keeping my shadow in place all day. Sometimes it works too well by hindering blending.

Ultra Bland looks and feels like a pot of lard, but it cleans like a dream. It's a bit much for summer, during winter, when my already dry skin becomes dull, flaky, and ruddy, just rubbing it on brings instant relief. I use it in the shower because the steam makes the product more pliable. I rub it in and then put a warm, damp washcloth over my face for about 30 seconds (to soften the cleaser even more), and then wipe it off with said washcloth. Everything gross on my face--including makeup and flakes of dead skin--comes off with it.

Urban Decay has come out with a line of lip glosses that offer long-lasting vinyl shine in beautiful colors. Then they had to go tart it up with a foody fragrance, a suggestive shape, and corny "names" for each one. They really are lovely, but I feel silly buying them.

I've been gradually easing out of using products contain silicon, starting with shampoo. It's not easy. In fact, finding silicon-free styling products is downright hard. Enter Lush. I purchased The Big Tease and loved it so much I went back for King of the Mods. Each offers different levels of hold, and both offer superior shine, frizz-taming, texture, and gorgeous scent.

I had initially planned a scathing review for this product. Even though it smells lovely and took off loads of dead skin, it took some healthy skin off with it! To avoid a blood transfusion, I started using Sugar Scrub only on my jucier bits like butt, calves, and thighs. I avoided the delicate skin on my chest and under my arms, focusing on instead on gently scrubbing the tops of my arms, where most of the itch-inducing stuff was anyway.
