Philosophy Red Licorice High Foaming Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath
Good news for licorice lovers, bad news for me
You either love the smell and taste of red licorice, or you don't. I'm firmly in the Don't category. When I got a sample of this, however, I was willing to give it a shot. While I was charmed by the abundance of creamy pink lather, the red licorice smell is strong. To add insult to injury, it left my skin feeling dry and itchy.

The sleek simplicity of the package mirrors what's inside. A no-fuss brush delivers a sweep of lash-lengthening color that won't wear off, smudge, irritate contact lenses. A dose of natural products (like bran and rice) conditions lashes.

I bought one of these, tried it, and immediately went online and bought six more: two more for me, two for my sis, and two for my mum. The butter's gel-like consistency slicks on a shiny layer of color that's true to what you see in the pot and smells like fresh fruit. It's highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way. Even though the color payoff is big, the packaging keeps this product casual, so you can rub some on in public without feeling weird. It's so moisturizing, I reach for it instead of my usual lip balm.

I'm not a big perfume person. Between my scented hair products and scented lotions, I feel like perfume would be overkill. Moreover, I find most perfumes to be too "perfumey." Marc Jacobs Daisy is the first perfume I've coveted. It smells like flowers but has a slightly musky undertone, which makes it sexy instead of teeny bopper. The smell is not overpowering and I love to sneak my wrist up to my nose when I'm wearing it to get a fresh whiff. Until my boyfriend takes my hints and buys this for me, I'll continue to use it every time I go to Sephora. My only wish is that it lasted longer.

The Sugar Babe scent makes me yearn for dessert. It's downright cruel that you can't eat it. Instead, you rub it all over yourself to slough off dead skin. When I hit an especially dry, itchy spot, it feels soooo good to rub it like crazy with Sugar Babe. The hardened sugar crystals relieve the itch and banish the skin that's causing it. The gooey center functions as a follow-up moisturizer. Lush anticipates that one scrub = one whole shower. At these prices? No, sir. I slice mine into fourths, which sees me through four delicious showers.

Thinking it smelled like dirt, I hated patchouli and derided it as a "dirty hippy smell" until the glorious day I received a hunk of Karma bubbles. The blend of sweet, sweet orange with high-end patchouli was intoxicating. I love the soap, but not as much. It lathers okay and a hunk of it will last you a while, provided you let it cure before you use it, but it doesn't possess the magic of the Karma scent I thought I knew. Karma Soap is all orange blossoms without the sexy edge of patchouli. Boo.

I can't deny that Lush's bath melts are a treat. During the cold winter, nothing feels better on dry skin than sinking into a warm bath laced with perfumed oils. The cost of a bath melt, however, hurts. These tiny bricks of scented cocoa butter are so extravagently priced it's insulting.

I tried Dior J'adore on one wrist, and Jean Paul Gautier Classique on the other. They smelled nearly identical to me, and I loved how modern they both were. My ultimate decision was made easy by the fact that the die-down notes of the Dior smelled very bitter on me, while the Classique die-down notes were powerdery and laced with vanilla.

This brush is a staple in my makeup bag. Compared to the prestige brand brushes that live at Sephora, this brush is a bargain. It's soft and easy-to-wield, making it good for makeup beginners and pros who want to give an eyelid a quick but pigmented wash of color.

A cunning array of flirty colors housed in a chic metal case with a vintage design make Benefit's Silky Finish Lipsticks tough to say no to. But you really should. The color goes on bright and shiny and feels silky smooth, but it'll be totally gone from your lips within a half hour.
