    Studio Baked Eyeshadow

Dark colors are the most pigmented... ;)

I got these in about eight different shades and I have to say that these, together with ELF’s mineral eye shadows are the shadows I use the most… My favorite colors so far are “bark”, “chocolate dream” and “bronzed beauty”. In general, I would say that the dark colors are the most pigmented ones, but even the lighter colors are very buildable and easy to blend… The best way to use these is definitely with a primer (since they are a bit powdery) or with a wet brush… And yes, as I mentioned they are a bit powdery, so there is no creaminess whatsoever. However, they do apply very evenly and there is no “chalkiness” to them at all. The color is very uniform – not patchy or uneven in pigmentation… I appreciate the fact that for $3 ($1.50 if you can get them during ELF’s 50% off sale) you can get a baked shadow that preserves its consistency all the way to the end… I’ve used baked shadows in the past, which are beautiful on the outside, but once you start using them you realize that there was only a thin layer of that beautiful color you fell in love with, and you are left with a dull boring version of it… I would recommend these shadows to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive good quality eye shadow that has a bit of a sparkle and that is non-creamy and can be easily blended with other colours… If you are looking for a lot of sparkle (in ELF’s products), then go with one of their mineral shadows (for a non-creamy alternative) or their “long lustrous” shadows (if you like creamy eye shadows)… Their “long lustrous” shadows don’t blend very well, but they do come in some of the most gorgeous colors. Definitely $3 well spent! ;)

  • Roger & Gallet Rose Fragrance
    9.0

    Roger & Gallet Rose Fragrance

Very clean, citrusy, rosy scent... Got lots of compliments while wearing it...

I really love this fragrance... A little while ago, "Crabtree & Evelyn" discontinued one of my all-time favourite body mists called "Temperate Zone" in their "L'Attitude" series... I was the best body spray/mist I've ever used in my life, and I'm pretty sure that I'll never find anything exactly like it... It had a light lemony/rosy scent, and gave me the freshest, most delicate and sexy feeling when I put it on... If anyone has ever used it, you'll understand why I was so disappointed when they discontinued it... I actually called their office and left a complaint... ;( So this "Rose" from "Roger & Gallet" is the closest thing to that body mist that I have found to this day... Although I'm constantly searching in hope that I might find a perfect match... It will probably smell differently on everyone, depending on their pH, because this fragrance has a lot of sour notes to it and might "turn" on some people... Straight out of the bottle it smells like a very concentrated mixture of rose and citrus scents, but about an hour after I put it on, it leaves a veil of sour rosy scent with an almost untraceable note of patchouli... So the citrus notes disappear after a while, but it still doesn't smell like a true rose... I get lots of compliments when I wear this, and most people describe it as "delicate, feminine" scent... It will last for about 3-4 hours, but even after that you still smell it on your skin... When I put it on in the morning, my boyfriend can tell what I used when I come back from work... This is how I test the staying power of many of my fragrances, by the way...lol... So if you are looking for a light rosy, slightly citrusy fragrance, I would definitely recommend this, and I also find that it's priced very reasonably for a product made in France... ;)

  • LypSyl Intense Protection

    LypSyl Intense Protection

My favourite from "LypSyl" - beautiful, smooth, pearly lips!

I have to admit that I'm definitely a lip balm junkie, and in spite of the fact that I have so many, I always try something new... Most of those products end up tossed somewhere where I can not find them or given away... But this one, I ended up using because I loved it so much... First of all - it's just pretty... The packaging is amazing: the colour combination, the shape of the tube, the balm itself, and the slider for the balm that's shaped like a bee! And the tube smooth and curvy - feels very good in your hand. I stopped to put some on my lips, so that I can write a proper review... I try to do that with most of the products I review, because I feel like it makes the review more genuine... ;) So the balm feels a little bit waxy as it goes on your lips, but immediately after applying it, it becomes creamy, smooth and velvety, feels very moisturising on your lips and gives them a slightly pearl sheen, which makes them look naturally beautiful... You feel a little tingle for a couple of minutes after applying it, and it is a little bit minty to taste, but really very little - even if you are not crazy about mint, you won't be put off by that taste... I personally love everything minty because it feels so refreshing... But the best thing about this balm is that it actually really works well... If you have chapped lips, this will make them feel smooth right away. It won't heal them in an instant, but your lips will not feel chapped with this lip balm on. It doesn't have SPF in it, but it's got retinyl palmitate, which is an antioxidant and has been proven to offer sun protection, so that's good news too... So if you are looking for a little extra moisture on your lips or maybe you are just tired of your usual lip balm - definitely give this a try. It's worth it... ;)

  • Lancome Juicy Tubes Original

    Lancome Juicy Tubes Original

I'd go for something else for that price...

I just don't get these... Yes, they do have a nice range of colours and I like a lot of nudes and neutrals, but on the lips - they don't feel good at all... They are extremely sticky, scented like children's candy and you can't possibly eat anything at all when you have these on - again, everything sticks to your lips as soon as it touches them... I almost felt my lips sticking together while I was speaking... Such an unpleasant experience... But yes, the colours are nice, and this is the only reason I'm giving these Juicy Tubes 6 stars... Considering the other possibilities out there at that price - I will never even think about buying one of these again... And I'm a "lip junkie"... I've tried all types of glosses and balms, low and high end brands... This is the first one that feels so thick and glue-like. And there is no way for you to apply it lightly so that it's not as sticky. Anyway, we all know that the price doesn't always reflect the quality... Such is the case here for me, unfortunately... And I'm not saying that this is a horrible lip gloss - not at all... I'm saying that when we buy a small tube of lip gloss at this price we expect it to perform above average, because if it doesn't - for the same price we could have 4 equally mediocre preforming lip glosses from a different company... There are many other Lancôme products I love and repurchase on a regular basis, but this made me never want to try another one of their lip products. Very disappointing... And no, I would not recommend this gloss to anyone. Not unless it's for a photo shoot of some sort - it's just not very practical in real life...

  • Nivea Touch of Serenity Body Wash
    9.0

Nivea Touch of Serenity Body Wash

Very delicate, slightly rosy, creamy scent and very moisturising...

This, together with "Apricot Blossom" are two of my favourite body washes from "Nivea"... If you've tried any of their body washes, you will know that they are all very moisturising, but these two just beat the other ones with their amazing scent, in my opinion... "Touch of Serenity" has a very delicate scent... It's very slightly rosy and creamy, and is just so delicate and calming and soothing and sexy at the same time... I find it hard for anyone not to fall in love with it... It's got exactly the same texture as the other body washes in this line: thick and creamy... It foams very well, and leaves your skin feeling moisturised and smelling like heaven for a very long time... My boyfriend, who very rarely comments on scents, actually commented on this one, and said that it smells "nice"... I know this doesn't sound like much, but believe me, for him to say something like that without being asked ...lol... means that there is really something special about that scent... The only thing that I'm not enjoying too much about this body wash is the way this product is packaged. The lid is shaped in such a way that you can't really store it upside down, unless you can find a way to keep it leaned against something without falling. So this means to me that I'm never going to use the entire product and whatever is left on the bottom will go to waste, which we obviously don't like. I can never understand why they don't always design cosmetic products with that in mind... So with that being said, I would still highly recommend this body wash. It works, it is a pleasure to use, and you might even get a couple of complements when you come out of the shower... ;)

  • St. ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser

St. ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser

A bit drying - but it works! Amazing price...

Wow... Really surprised at all the negative reviews for this product... I actually liked this cleanser very much, and I can't stop recommending it every time I talk "facial cleansers" with people, especially if they have blemishes or very oily skin... I guess this product works very differently with everyone... It might possibly depend on your pH level... For my combination skin - it works very well. I do find it drying, but not terribly so... Since I always moisturise, this isn't really a problem for me at all... The most important factor which I do care about is that it works... I cleared up my skin in about a week, when I was surviving the consequences of I uncontrollably consuming a crazy amount of ice cream and chocolate in just a few days... I liked the scent; it smells leafy, but not quite like green tea; I would say that it has a herbal scent. It foams very well and leaves my skin feeling perfectly clean... I've seen reviews where people commented that this cleanser doesn't "cleanse", and I must say that I feel completely the opposite in this regard... Maybe it depends on how you are applying the cleanser? I honestly have no idea. Personally, I always use one pump on my regular facial sponge (the small, round natural loofah kind), which is what I would do with any cleanser, and just pass it all over my face pressing very gently. I do that for about a minute or so and then rinse everything off... And the price for this cleanser is amazing, in my opinion as well... In Canada (and I'm sure it's close to what you would pay in the US) I pay $3.99 for the regular 200 ml container, which (when used daily) should last you for about two months. Very hard to beat that deal... In spite of most reviewers here, I would highly recommend this cleanser for anyone who suffers from blemishes or has oily or combination skin.

  • Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm
    2.0

Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm

    Don't bother with these...

When I just saw these, I thought it was a great idea, and the colour range was not too bad, so I prepared to fall in love... I got two of them, one in "Forbidden" and the other one - I can't remember the name, because it dried out and went into trash almost immediately after I purchased it... First of all, not true to colour. But even that wouldn't be that much of a problem for me if I could just get to use them for more than a week... One of them dried out in about a week, and the other one lasted not more than three weeks in total, before it started sort of flaking off these darkly pigmented pieces of whatever it is made out off... And the more you press (you obviously have to press because they are so dry) the more of that weird stuff you get on your lips - it's just unpleasant in every way imaginable... Basically it feels like you are trying to colour your lips with a really sharp, dry permanent marker - that's the best way I can describe it. And not only you don't like the colour (when you do manage to get something out of it), but it goes on patchy, which makes your lips look terrible either way... If this didn't dry out so quickly, the only sensible way of wearing it would be to apply as much as possible of the balm (on the opposite side of the dry marker), then dab a bit of that "ink" onto your lips and try to spread it over your lips as much and as quickly as you can... And by the way, the only reason I'm giving this 2 stars, is because I actually liked the balm side of this product... I don't know what it's made out of, but I found it very moisturising on my lips... Still, half an inch of lip moisturiser isn't worth the money that these Lipstains cost... And no, I would absolutely not recommend this to anyone.

  • The Body Shop Wild Rose Hand Cream SPF 15
    9.0

The Body Shop Wild Rose Hand Cream SPF 15

Loved it! Smells amazing, very light and moisturising...

I truly loved this hand cream... There was actually a specific reason for me getting this cream... My co-worker once came back from her break, and when she passed by me, she left a trace of such a delicate rose bud like scent that I had to run after her and ask her what she was wearing... I was sure that it was some sort of body oil, or an EDT... So she took this out of her purse and let me try it... And naturally, the day after I got it myself, because I just couldn't resist... This cream is very light in consistency, it is not like glycerine or petroleum jelly based cream. It feels very silky, almost milky and absorbs almost immediately after you put it on... It does leave your hands a bit shiny at first, but a few minutes later the shine goes away, and your hands are left feeling smooth, silky and moisturised... And no matter how much I like the effectiveness of this cream, still, what I love the most about it is the way it smells... The packaging is also very cute; I love the combination of rose/pink with silver... And I noticed one reviewer commenting about the cap being hard to screw back on after you've applied the cream. Personally, I didn't find any problems with the cap at all; plus, I always close it before actually creaming my hands. I just put the cream on the outside of my left palm, close the tube, then dab some of the cream on the outside of my right palm and apply it to both of my hands... I've always done it that way, so I guess it's just a matter of habit... So no, no problems at all for me, loved everything about this cream. I do wish it was just a bit less expensive, and that is the only reason why I'm giving it 9 stars, but I would definitely recommend this hand cream to all... ;)

  • The Body Shop Oceanus Home Fragrance Oil
    10.0

The Body Shop Oceanus Home Fragrance Oil

Clean, soft & cottony... My favourite from "The Body Shop"...

I have a few home fragrance oils from "The Body Shop" and "Oceanus" is actually my favourite one... Personally, I don't like anything that smells very sweet of vanilla like... I'm always searching for more linen or cotton like, fresh, clean scents, and this has a little bit of everything I look for. If I were to describe the scent, I would put it in the family of "fabric softener" scents... So if you don't like the way fabric softeners smell, then you definitely won't like this oil... So it kind of smells like fabric softener but a lot "sharper" - with more pronounced sour notes and even just a tiny bit of musk, but not enough to make it a heavy scent... And it does have a little bit of sweetness to it... If you leave it burning for a couple of hours in the morning and then turn it off, for the rest of the day your house will smell very fresh and clean and welcoming... And I could almost guarantee you that if you invite someone over, they will ask you about it... Almost every single time I use this oil, people ask what I used - they don't just say that it smells nice; they want to know the name of the product, so that their house can smell the same way... Now that I'm smelling it, as I'm writing this review, I realized that it also smells a bit like shampoo - not the floral kind but those that just smell clean and soapy... I really don't know how to describe it well... Basically it's clean, fresh and soft, but with no sweetness, vanilla or cinnamon in it... And yes, I would definitely recommend it to everyone who uses home fragrance oils, because I repurchase it all the time... ;)

  • Yves Rocher Purple Lilac Body Lotion
    10.0

Yves Rocher Purple Lilac Body Lotion

My second favourite from this line! Moisturising and long-lasting...

This one, together with "Fresh Rose" are two of my favourite moisturisers from the "Un Matin Au Jardin" line... This is the type of moisturiser that will make your skin happy all day! I put it all over my body when I come out of the shower and use it on my hands throughout the day, and my body and legs still feel extremely moisturised at the end of the day! And the scent!!! I first realised it when I was working on my PC late at night, and I kept passing my left hand over my leg thinking that it's so odd that my skin feel that soft at this time of the day... And after testing for another couple day, I confirmed that it was due to this lotion. The texture doesn't have a gel consistency to me. It feels just like a very light, non-greasy cream. It's silky and smooth and very easy to apply. Absorbs into your skin almost immediately and leaves it feeling soft all day. And the scent is very true to this lotion's name - it really does smell exactly like Lilac... ;) It leaves your skin smelling so amazing, and not in an overpowering kind of way, just enough for people to notice when they get close to you... I've had many people ask me what I'm wearing because it's so subtle, when I wasn't wearing any perfume at all, and my boyfriend loves it, which is always a good thing... :) By the way, this is also one of "YR"'s products that are made in France. And I don't know if it's a coincidence but I find that I always end up loving everything they make in France or in Ireland, and a bit less the stuff they make in Mexico. Also, I would like to point out that even though the container might look like you won't be able to get the entire product out of it and a lot of it will go to waste, it actually comes out completely effortlessly and I use these creams almost to the very last drop... So yes, would definitely recommend this moisturizer to all... ;)
