I have been completely "hooked" on Lancome's "Dual-Finish Versatile Powder Foundation" forever. However, one night in a department store, I wanted something new. I thought I'd add a foundation and had a very long and detailed foundation with a wonderful consultant at the Prescriptives Counter. She steered me toward a shade of "Virtual Skin Super Natural Foundation" which could not possibly be more flattering or complementary. No matter how I apply it--with a brush, my fingers, or a sponge--coverage is never streaky. It could be mistaken for a second skin, only it enhances, gently gives a boost of color, and softens creases and furrows. This foundation wears forever--I can put it on in the morning before school, go out to dinner, and then go out after that and my face is as dewy and fresh as it was many hours earlier. This is a miracle in a bottle. There is a shade-finder tool o the Prescriptives' site which is most helpful.

I love these mineral blushes! I have one in "Joy" (a very fair pink), "Coral" (a tender peach), "Rose" (seems to have just a hint of coral in it), and "Pink." Because they are mineral products, they need to be applied with care (a little goes a long way). Coverage is very buildable and oh-so-beautiful. It is seamless when applied, lasts through long, hot days, and keeps looking fresh through miserable conditions. What else could you ask for at a price of $5.00? I think it is a competitor with top-shelf brands!

Revlon's Colorstay Eyeliner Pencil was one I tried when I experimented with a slew of eyeliners--with excellent results. The intense color lasts up to sixteen or more hours. The creamy formula glides on easily, even for those who are "all thumbs." I love the fact that it is waterproof and stays put forever. The self-sharpener guarantees a precise point every time.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara
Long, Separated Lashes--for a Very Long Time!
Yes, I've found another mascara I love and I'm hard on mascaras! It's Estèe Lauder's "Double-Wear Zero Smudge Mascara." This innovative formula won the "Shape of Beauty 2008 Awards" and the "Shape Magazine Awards" the same year. The special Lash-Xtender™ brush does a great job of locating, delineating, and coloring each and every lash. The micro-bristles go deep into the lash bed to comb and separate lashes, coating them in glossy color which wears at least fifteen hours without smudging or flaking. Estèe Lauder's "Smudge-Shield"™ coating has polymers to lock in mascara, keeping it on lashes and away from your face. It resists heat and humidity, as well as perspiration. I also like that fact that it comes in brown for when I want a softer look. This great mascara is ophthalmologist-tested, fragrance-free, and perfect for contact lens wearers. It separates my lashes wonderfully and keeps them that way from the day through the evening.

I truly had a love affair with Urban Decay's "Primer Potion" until I met Too Faced's "Shadow Insurance," but UD's version still makes me happy. When I saw that UD had an "Eyelash Primer Potion," I was over the moon. Lashes are supposed to be lengthened and volume added by tiny fibers which adhere to your own lashes. Results are supposed to be maximized with nourishing silk protein, panthenol, and hydrolyzed wheat protein. I really saw no difference when using the primer and when using mascara by itself (and I did several "tests"). All in all, I would not recommend this product or purchase it again.

Like Nora Ephron, I am worried about my neck. I thought I found the consummate solution with DHC's "Revitalizing Moisture Strips: Neck." You peel the backing off and apply a comforting, cool pad to your neck. It is supposed to deliver age-defying nutrients as you sleep, such as olive leaf extract, mulberry extract (to brighten), and soy. Other ingredients include aloe leaf juice and alpha-arbutin. I truly savor the feeling, but the strips fall off. Even over a perfectly cleansed neck, they "un-peel" themselves and I find myself reapplying and trying to lie very still. I will admit that there is some softness and firming in the morning, but you have to measure that against the lack of sleep you had trying to keep these in place!

I went through a period when I tried one eyeliner after another, and of course Tarte was among the products I tested. This is a great smooth texture, capable of creating the finest line possible to performing as a seductive shadow base (all made possible by the wonderful formula and double-ended brush). This stays on forever, resisting humidity, perspiration, and long hours of work and play.

I wanted to love this, I tried to love this! I wore it a few days, but I remain unimpressed. The key notes in this fragrance are raspberry, vanilla, peony, pear, and cyclaman. It is supposed to be fun and flirty; I found it just to be there.
