    Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream

    Remarkably, Wonderfully Potent!

I generally don't turn to Benefit when it comes to skin care products (I don't say that disparagingly; I'm in a habit of using skin care from other companies and tend to associate Benefit with color). Huge exception here: "It's Potent! Eye Cream" means what it says and says what it means. It's a moisturizer made to brighten the eye area and fade dark circles. I don't have dark circles, but this is still very valuable to me. It is a substantive cream which sinks into skin easily. I actually FEEL the benefits; my eyes are immediately and greatly comforted. After just a few uses, there is a decidedly more taut feel. It is charmingly packaged and a little goes a long way. What gives this cream such oomph? Glycerin and squalane, for starters (a naturally occurring lipid which is added to lotions because of its anti-oxidant, age-fighting properties). Linseed seed extract, sweet almond fruit extract, wheat and oat proteins and sodium hyaluronate account for some of the rest of the ingredients. Benefit claims the effects of increased elasticity and younger-looking eyes are also due to peptides in the formula. I find myself somewhat addicted to it (along with other products). I don't wear it during the day, but it is a "treat" I crave after my evening cleansing ritual. So far, tiny lines and wrinkles are staying away, and I could not be happier.

Wet n Wild MegaEyes Eyeshadow Trios

QUICK Way to Beautify Your Eyes

These trios are one of the easiest and quickest ways to enhance your lids, creases, and brow bones. They come in flattering shades, apply like the wind, and last through long days and nights. I wish a mirror were included, but I'll never complain about the price.

  • Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection

I find these colors above-average, especially for the price. I do think they are decently pigmented, apply easily, and I get a good amount of wear out of them, especially over a great primer (Too Faced's "Shadow Insurance," for instance). The colors come in nicely coordinated palettes, especially helpful for beginners. Of course, you know that you should keep the foam applicator only for emergencies and work with brushes for the best looks possible. I wish the packaging was as sturdy and lovely as it used to be, but the price is still right. Overall, these are a deal you can't afford to overlook!

    Got2b Rockin' It Hairspray

    Keep Me From Looking Freakish

Most hair sprays do NOTHING for my hair--especially when it is rainy or humid. I have to say that "Got2b Rockin' It" performed better than most for me. I used it after just washing my hair (so it was very prone to frizz) and it started to drizzle (drat!). The scent is delightfully subtle, hard to define, but sort of a fruit aroma. My hair did not stay like it was when I left the house, but it did NOT become the total disaster I was fearing. There was some style left after a soggy afternoon and evening. I would definitely buy this again.

    Senna Lipstick - Cream

    Lush, Lovely, Long-Lasting

Senna Cosmetics reminds me greatly of Hourglass Cosmetics and Neutrogena--they always seem to place quality before number of items produced or concern with following trends. I have this lipstick in a ruby, a magnificent shade for fall. It is inviting and warm. It glides on, comforts my lips in luxury, and keeps on going for several hours. This is Senna's lipstick for maximum color impact and wear. Among the ingredients are hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, shea butter, and jojoba oil (yes--a beauty treatment at the same time!) . It is a rich, lush formula which never results in those tiny "balls" of crusted lipstick I detest and lasts through long hours, coffee, water, and lectures I give. With the weather turning cooler, I'd definitely recommend Senna Cream Lipstick to keep your pout gorgeous and comfortable all fall and winter long.

    SpaRitual Nail Lacquer

Gorgeous, Healthy Beauty on Your Hands and Feet

I've been happily doing my nails since I was five years old. Manicures increased with age--in middle school, high school, college, and when I began to work I was never with bare nails. My parents would very lovingly ask me if the smell of the polishes and polish removers were bothering me; they kept telling me that they were harmful to my health. In my ignorance, I didn't notice a thing except the fanciful colors. Now that I don't have time to do my nails quite as often, the overwhelming fumes nearly make me sick (I'm not sure when I became so aware of them). I am grateful for SpaRitual. It is 100% vegan, with no DBP, toulene, camphor, formaldehyde or formaldehyde resin. It feels good to beautify my hands and feet without potent chemicals. What a difference it makes--manicures and pedicures are completely pleasurable now! They are a bit pricey, but I do believe they're worth the money spent. These polishes come in shades for every taste, from timid to bold, apply evenly and beautifully, and remain without chipping for a long time. I'm hooked on this brand now. Thanks, Mom and Dad! You were always right, anyhow.

  • Estee Lauder Modern Muse

I was most anxious to smell this--and I fell for it! I find this floral, soft, and feminine and sensual at the same time. Estee Lauder has created some of the scents I will never live without ("White Linen," for example), and I applaud its new creation!

    E.L.F. Studio Complexion Brush

Treat Yourself to The Decadence . . .

ELF continues to amaze me with its deals. Their "Studio Brush" is hard to tell from a natural-hair brush. It is incredibly lush, soft, and dense. The bristles don't fall out, even after washing. The versatility is incredible, and so is the ridiculously low price ($3.00!).

  • LaRocca Vitamin Repair Mist

    LaRocca Vitamin Repair Mist

    Revitalizing, Beautifying Mist!

What is better than a cool spritz of water for refreshment on a hot, humid day? (Think of the beach here, an amusement park, or the zoo.) Few things, unless they are LaRocca's "Vitamin Repair Mist" ($25.00 and definitely worth it). I have always carried Evian and other spritzers for times when I knew I would be hot and wilting, but LaRocca's is by far the most refreshing and helpful to my complexion! LaRocca's version includes pure 24K gold, which some research has shown to be beneficial to skin in many ways. Also in this formula are green tea leaf extract, aloe leaf juice, grape seed extract, (are you FEELING the comfort yet?), sodium hyaluronate and squalane, both emollients to keep you glowing. BUT WAIT--this pick-me-up spray includes an SPF factor of 15, helping to keep you beautiful. I find this enormously hedonistic and luxurious. The scent is fresh, much like new-picked cucumbers. It is a lightweight liquid which keeps makeup intact, revives your skin and your spirits, and goes on to give you a beauty treatment while on the go (how wonderful is that?). Don't save this just for summer, however. LaRocca's "Vitamin Repair Mist" is wonderful if you are out at parties or with friends. Keep this in mind for the upcoming Holidays when you may find yourself stifled in hot, stuffy rooms, restaurants, or clubs. Your senses are awakened, your look instantly renewed. I do have one issue with this--the dispenser itself. Instead of a fine mist, you sometimes wind up with awkward squirts of this excellent lotion. I don't want to waste it, not a drop. Not to worry. Go to a local five and dime or dollar store and find another spray bottle which works more effectively. I'm taking one star away for the dispenser; otherwise, this is a 10 all the way!

  • Vincent Longo Illumina Concealer Pencil

    Vincent Longo Illumina Concealer Pencil

    Unique, Easy Concept in Coverage

I'm truly shocked that this unique, effective concealer hasn't been reviewed many more times. I own it in "Light," as my complexion is fair. Half of this dual-ended pencil is pure concealer which matches my skin exactly and makes short work of dark circles and blemishes. The other half is just a half-tone darker, still natural looking, with a tiny bit of shimmer which is used to highlight and bring out my best features (I dot on the inside of my eyes at the top, around my mouth, you name it). I LOVE the formula--it is completely non-oily but gel-based, and so it glides on effortlessly. The concealer and highlighter never call attention to tiny lines and wrinkles but, instead, work with the mineral mica to draw awareness away from them. I recently used my Longo concealer for a swollen eye which a fruit fly(?!) had bitten--shades of red and blue were immediately disguised and for a very long period of time! Sometimes I mix the concealer with the illuminator to add an extra dimension for the aura of perfect, flawless skin anywhere on my face. There is only one small drawback to this otherwise perfect product: The ends do become dull over time and require sharpening (a sharpener is $4.00 at Vincent Longo). You may--just a suggestion--want to "set" the concealer/illuminator with a great HD face powder, but I still find that powder around my eyes ages me, even when applied with a wonderful Beautyblender dampened sponge. Use powder carefully and sparingly and glow on!
