Once again, I find myself in total agreement with "Volta." Elf, what happened to you? You can make extremely good products, but these are some of the worst blotting papers I have ever used (and I've used nearly every brand). They don't come out of the little paper container easily. They are so thin that it's hard to see if you've mopped up shine. When you finally do determine that you have, you realize that you require one or two more at the least to do the job properly. I'm surprised, but for all of the wonderful bargains ELF offers, I'll simply write this off . . .

This is the perfect size and density to really allow me to blend shadow colors together. It is soft, but it is still stiff enough to work with nearly every brand of shadow. And the price? I don't know how they can afford to produce it!

I rarely do makeup without this helper by my side. It keeps brows in place (brows really do frame a face) and removes any excess mascara I may have on my lashes. It's been washed countless times, but I haven't had to replace it yet.

I think ELF's "Foundation Brush" is substantive enough to stand up to lots of use but soft enough to be comforting. I'm able to achieve an even application of foundation sans streaks. After washing this more times than I can count, it remains intact and ready to go. I simply can't believe that they can offer a brush of this caliber for the ridiculously low price.

Gorgeous Palettes with Unlimited Potential
It's no secret that I love palettes. NYX's "Runway Collection" has been a problem for me--I own all of the palettes (I couldn't resist!). The colors are beautifully arranged to enhance each other and your eyes. They are soft, blendable, pigmented well, and last a long time, especially when worn over a good primer. If they were put in a competition with other much higher-priced shadows, they would come in the lead.

I never feel as though my makeup is "finished" unless I have worked on my brows. Once they are in the shape I like, I like to brush them slightly upward and outward. "Speedbrow" enables me to do this without the foul smell some other similar products have. They are set for a long time without being stiff or brittle.

This angled brush allows me to easily create numerous eye looks, especially a smoky look. I like the way it works in my lid crease and smooths shade under bottom lashes. It doesn't shed and I can't believe I only paid $1.00 for it. Did I dream this?

Paula's Choice RESIST Instant Smoothing Anti-Aging Foundation
Application and Coverage are Heavy and Uneven
Paula's Choice offers a wide range of products which generally work. I like the fact that Paula outlines exactly what is in each product; you pretty much have an idea what to expect before you try it. They are not overpriced (for the most part), nor do they rely on glitzy containers to prove their worth. I bought her "Resist Instant Smoothing Anti-Aging Foundation" and was surprisingly and deeply disappointed. The shade choices are great, with something for nearly everyone as long as your skin doesn't fall beyond the "medium" range (they should have shades for women of color). Application was another story. I have good skin and found that it "dragged" over even the lightest moisturizer. I used a foundation brush, my fingers, and a sponge, but application was still very difficult. Once on, coverage is uneven. My pores (normally not very noticeable) were highlighted with this product, not diminished nor disguised! The cream seemed to get caught in the tiniest lines and wrinkles which are generally not visible. Moreover, it began it wear off not long after I applied it. I worked with it as long as I could--after all, this is from Paula's Choice, and I like her products. But this was definitely a no-go. I wound up washing my face and turning to my go-to foundation, Lancôme's "Dual Finish Versatile Power Foundation."

This is one of my favorite mascaras. I was initially a bit perplexed at how the super-slim, curved wand would work, but once I learned to work with it the results were worth it. I apply over curled lashes. LESS IS MORE. There is just enough brush to draw out my lashes to a much better length (many times overwhelming brushes are the problem with a mascara). The applicator is ideal for bottom lashes--I can reach and highlight every single one with no clumps. It's also reasonably priced--I'm pleased!

I truly did not expect to like this toothpaste. I've been using more well-known brands throughout my life; I also buy a clay toothpaste for $19 to help remove all plaque and film from my delicate teeth. But I was given a sample tube and used it for a week. I demanded a lot from it: Whiter teeth, a truly clean feel, a pleasant taste, etc. And all of my expectations were exceeded. I highly recommend this!
