Juice Beauty SPF 8 Lip Moisturizers

    Nice concept, poor product

I love tinted lip balms with stable sunscreen, so I was excited to try these. Unfortunately, the texture of the product is just too dry for my preference. I prefer really moist lip products. Active Ingredients: Octinoxate, Oxybenzone, Titanium Dioxide. Inactive Ingredients: Organic Plant Oils Of Coconut And Sunflower Infused With Guava & Peach Fruit Essences, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Beeswax, Organic Candelilla Wax, Carnauba Wax, Organic Jojoba Seed Oil, Panthenol, Lecithin, Organic Honey, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic Algae Extract, Tocopherol, Mica, Iron Oxides.

  • Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
    1.0

    Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

    Drying and irritating

I find that this lip balm tends to dry out my lips and make them peel. Thus, this is a completely useless lip balm for me. I prefer Paula's Choice Lip & Body Treatment Balm, although I wish it came in a stick like Burt's Bees instead of a pot. Ingredients: beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, tocopheryl acetate & tocopherol, lanolin, peppermint oil, comfrey root extract, rosemary extract.

  • St. Ives Intensive Healing Body Lotion

One of the best, if not the best, drugstore body lotions. I love that it's fragrance free. It's fairly thick for a lotion. It moisturizes well but still absorbs quickly. It even has some antioxidants (as many as one can expect at such a low price). I still prefer Paula's Choice Slip into Silk Body Lotion, but it's much more expensive. So this makes a good alternative when I'm feeling poor (which, unfortunately, is most of the time). Ingredients: water, glycerin, mineral oil, glycol stearate, cetyl alcohol, stearic acid, petrolatum, dimethicone, glyceryl stearate, magnesium aluminum silicate, acetylated lanolin alcohol, cetyl acetate, triethanolamine, cocoa seed butter, sunflower extract, primula veris extract, sambucus nigra flower extract, chamomilla recutita flower extract, carbomer, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, algae extract, propylene glycol, sorbitol, calcium pantothenate, tocopheryl acetate, panthenol, biotin, thiamine hcl, ascorbic acid, ambrettolide, dipropylene glycol, polysorbate 20, methyldihydrojasmonate, stearamide amp, dmdm hydantoin, disodium edta, methylparaben, propylparaben, titanium dioxide.

Hawaiian Tropic Ozone Sport Sunblock SPF 30+

Too thick, heavy, sticky, and waxy

I can't use this sunscreen on my face because of the waxes (I have acne-prone skin) and the high level of octocrylene (the only sunscreen filter that makes my face sting). But I bought it to use on my body because it was fragrance free. Unfortunately, that's the only thing this sunscreen has going for it. It is thick, heavy, sticky, waxy, and just impossible to spread onto and absorb into my skin. I will use it up but will not repurchase. It aggravates me that I had to e-mail HT for the full ingredients list. They should be listed on the packaging; I actually thought that was the law, but I must be mistaken. Active Ingredients: Octocrylene 8.0%, Oxybenzone 3.5%, Avobenzone 1.0%. Other Ingredients: Water, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Lauryl PEG-8 Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Hydrated Silica, Acrylates/C12-22 Alkyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Sodium Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol, Beeswax, Methylparaben, Polyethylene, Stearoxy Dimethicone, Microcrystalline Wax, Propylparaben, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate, Silica, Plumeria Acutifolia (Plumeria) Flower Extract, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract, Psidium Guajava (Guava) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Passiflora Incarnata (Passionflower) Fruit Extract, Colocasia Antiquorum (Dasheen) Root Extract.

  • Peter Thomas Roth AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel

Peter Thomas Roth AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel

Too harsh for my sensitive skin

The alcohol and glycolic acid in this product make it too harsh for my sensitive facial skin. Instead, I've been using it on my body to address acne, ingrown hairs, and kp. It's been working well, but there are cheaper products that I can use for this purpose. Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid 2%. Inactive Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycolic Acid, Glycerin, SD-Alcohol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Propylene Glycol, Ammonium Hydroxide, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea.

  • Clarins Par Amour Eau de Parfum Spray

The fragrance notes include pink peppercorn, blackcurrant, rose, sandalwood, and Siamese benzoin. With my body chemistry this becomes strongly and sickeningly sweet, and I usually like sweet scents. This isn't a fragrance I will purchase.

Kiehl's Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant

An average antiperspirant that's not worth the price

I bought this product to see if it would be a good cheaper alternative to my favorite Clarins Gentle Cream Deodorant. This product did not control wetness or odor as well as the Clarins, and it left a bit of white residue, which the Clarins does not. I will not repurchase. Active Ingredient: aluminum chlorohydrate 16%. Inactive ingredients: water, isopropyl myristate, cetyl esters, propylene glycol, peg-75 stearate, glyceryl stearate, cetyl alcohol, ceteth-20, steareth-20, dimethicone, methylparaben, propylparaben, bisabolol, orange fruit extract, lemon peel extract, linseed seed extract, farnesol, quillaja saponaria bark extract, witch hazel extract.

    Stila Sheer Pressed Powder

    Not good for acne-prone skin

It's a nice powder, but it's a shame they included corn starch, which makes me break out. (It feeds the acne bacteria.) If you aren't acne-prone, this could be a great powder; if you are acne-prone, beware! Ingredients: talc, polymethyl methacrylate, silica, corn starch, octyldodecyl lactate, isononyl isononanoate, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, sunflower seed oil, oat kernel extract, caprylyl glycol, hexylene glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, dimethicone, zeolite, nylon-12, zinc stearate, bht, phenoxyethanol, sorbic acid. May Contain: mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, ultramarines.

  • Matrix Total Results Wonder Boost Root Lifter

I love this stuff. It gives my stick-straight, fine-but-thick hair some body without looking or feeling heavy (no cones to build up). My only complaint is that sometimes it does make my sensitive scalp itch a little bit (probably from the fragrance--I wish more hair products were fragrance-free). Ingredients: Water, PVP, Chitosan, Lactic Acid, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Methylparaben, Polysorbate 20, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride, Ethylparaben, Panthenol, Citronellol, Benzyl Benzoate, Amyl Cinnamal, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Silk Amino Acids, Hexyl Cinnamal, Geraniol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Green 3.

  • Clinique Superdefense Triple Action Moisturizer SPF 25

This was one of many steps in my progress toward better protecting my skin from the sun. For years I avoided daily sunscreen because of my oily, acne-prone skin, but I finally became convinced by all the evidence that fair skin like mine really should use sunscreen every day. So I began a search for a facial sunscreen I could tolerate using daily. First I tried Neutrogena Dry-Touch, but it balled up terribly, especially under makeup, but also under itself if I tried to reapply. I also disliked the fact that it was fragranced, since my skin is sensitive to fragrances. So Clinique SuperDefense for normal to oily skin became my second experiment. I liked it better than the Neutrogena, until I learned that it wasn't photostable. I also suspected that the astrocaryum murumuru butter (which is a kind of palm nut butter that doesn't seem appropriate in a product for normal to oily skin) was clogging my pores. I now happily use Shiseido SPF 55 Lotion, which is photostable and doesn't clog my pores. Active Ingredients: octinoxate 7.4%, avobenzone 3%, oxybenzone 2%. Other Ingredients: purified water, dimethicone, butylene glycol, isononyl isononanoate, silica, glycerin, polyglyceryl-2 tri-isostearate, polysilicone-11, seaweed extract, wheat bran extract, olive fruit extract, coffee seed extract, coneflower extract, rosemary extract, sea whip extract, adenosine phosphate, trehalose, disodium nadh, creatine, sodium rna, caffeine, nordihydroguaiaretic acid, sodium dna, phytosphingosine, linoleic acid, cholesterol, ferulic acid, ascorbyl tocopheryl maleate, sodium hyaluronate, aminopropyl ascorbyl phosphate, tocopheryl acetate, sucrose, micrococcus lysate, astrocaryum murumuru butter, lauryldimonium hydroxypropyl hydrolyzed soy protein, lecithin, tridecyl trimellitate, hexylene glycol, ethylhexyl stearte, ethylhexyl palmitate, propylene glycol dicaprate, chamomile extract, zeolite, maltodextrin, c1-8 alkyl tetrahydroxycyclohexanoate, caprylyl glycol, polyethylene, hydroxyethylcellulose, xanthan gum, sodium chloride, pvp, laureth-4, laureth-23, polysorbate 20, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, tromethamine, disodium edta, chlorphenesin, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben.
