  • Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream

I've been using this underneath my pressed powder for about a week and I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. It claims to have shade matching technology which is comforting because it appears quite dark when it comes out of the tube. As other reviewers noted it is quite sheer, but it seems like no matter how little I use or how well I blend, it's still just a tiny bit too dark on me. It seems to have a yellowish undertone as well. If I accidentally use too much it definitely does not work for me. I've used many products in the past, similar products even, that did give me a "lit from within" kind of glow and I loved that look. In spite of the claims (and other reviews), I don't get that kind of look from this product. I'm trying to use up what's left in my sample tube (in spite of it not being a perfect match) so as not to be wasteful, but this is not a product I'll be buying in a full size.

    Benefit Lollibalm

    Sheer and lovely

I was skeptical about this product. The shade is so pale and pale lip colors rarely work on me, but also because I wanted to love the original Benetint but it just never worked for me. I am SO glad I gave this a chance! I really love it. Because it's a balm, the color is sheer enough that it works nicely on me. It's great for spring, especially since I tend toward darker lip colors no matter the season. Having a paler shade for warmer weather really freshens up my look! The texture is moisturizing, but...I'm not sure how to describe it. Thinner, maybe, than other balms? Not as balmy. Almost more of a gloss texture, but like I said, it is still moisturizing which is nice. It really is only barely a hint of color, so if you're looking for something pigmented this is not the product for you! It seems to have just a tiny bit of a rose scent to it, but it's definitely not too overwhelming. At least not for me, I recommend giving it a sniff if you have a sensitive nose. There is a generous amount of product in the tube which is nice because it does need to be reapplied as frequently as any other lip balm. I think it's a good value for the price, considering the amount of product you get (as I write this, it's going for $18 at Sephora). I also enjoy the bright color and pattern on the outside of tube. It's fun to have around! I like this so much I will probably try some of the other shades as well. This is also probably a product I will purchase again if or when I run out. I'm really glad I gave this a chance!

  • Boscia Fresh Blotting Linens

These are blotting papers. I didn't find them to do anything special or fancy. They blot the oil on my face as promised, without disturbing my makeup. I've purchased these multiple times because I like the brand. The only thing I didn't love was the packaging because it didn't stand up well to being kept in my handbag. I think I would have been willing to pay a little more for a sturdier package since this is the kind of product I pretty much only use on the go.

  • Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm

    Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm

Not for sensitive skin, not worth the money

I don't even consider myself to have sensitive skin, really. At this stage in my life I would categorize myself as mildly acne-prone at the worst. But this cleanser made my skin quite angry. I have a sample I received in a set from Sephora--I have only used it three times, but frankly I'm a little scared to try to use it again. The product itself comes out black. It looks at first like it should be a mud mask instead of a cleanser. I noticed a tiny bit of a gritty texture to it as I rubbed it onto my face, presumably because of the fancy "Hungarian moor mud" that's in it? It's not enough to feel like it's exfoliating, but I did feel it was noticeable. Besides the hint of grit, the texture is a bit different from other cleansers. I guess I'd say it's thicker? And it doesn't lather much if at all (it's possible it's not supposed to, some cleansers aren't). It has kind of an odd smell that I find difficult to describe--but I have a weak sense of smell, so if you have a sensitive nose and want to try this, I'd give the tester a sniff first. My ultimate problem with it, and the reason I'm afraid to finish the sample I have, is that it made my face break out. Almost instantly. I woke up the first morning after I used this the night before and had two new breakouts. Could have been a fluke so I used it again that night and had another new breakout the next morning. Still considering the possibility that other factors (or random chance) in my life could be to blame I tried it for a third time and when I got out of the shower, my face was flushed bright red in areas (this is not normal for me after a shower) and generally looked awful. I immediately busted out my tried and true skincare products--an acne treatment gel and my favorite moisturizer--and luckily I was mostly back to normal by morning. But I will definitely never go near this cleanser again. What's worse? As I'm writing this, TB shows this cleanser as available on Amazon for about $185 and Sephora is charging $110 for less than 2 ounces. Most definitely not worth your money, in my opinion. Especially I've read multiple articles in which beauty professionals explain that cleansers are essentially washed down the drain, so serums and creams are where you should spend the big money (if you're into spending big money, that is).

  • Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream

    Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream

    Not bad, if you're patient

I've had some great, and immediate, results from a lot of Fresh products, so I thought at first this one was going to be a total disappointment. I've been using this on my face morning and night for about a week. I have oil to combination skin, and I really have not found it to be as moisturizing as I expected it to be, and when I had a couple of patchy dry areas on my face, this did not help. The texture is exactly what it sounds like--a gel, but just a little bit creamy--and I'd say the moisturizing level is probably great for someone with oily skin who doesn't want to be shiny from their moisturizer. It soaks in quickly, but leaves me feeling like I need to wash my hands after application because they feel kind of goopy/sticky. This product claims to also tone which I didn't see at first, but after twice a day use for several more days, I do feel like my skin tone is a little more even. Not a dramatic change, but definitely noticeable. Even though this has "rose" in the name, I think it still has the same cucumber-ish scent as so many other Fresh products (such as the Soy Face Wash). If you've disliked the scent of Fresh products in the past, give this one a sniff before purchasing because the rose scent isn't nearly as strong as I expected it to be. Overall this is a nice enough product and probably great for some skin types. I'm glad I tried it out, but I won't be purchasing the full-size.

  • Prada Beauty Candy

I seem to not have much luck with Prada scents! This is yet another one that doesn't work for me. When I first put it on (and let it settle into my skin a bit) my first thought was that it didn't really smell like anything! I could tell I was wearing perfume but the scent, while strong, was somehow underwhelming. It's hard to describe. My husband's response was that it seemed like a more mature scent. Not unpleasant, but something he'd expect on someone older than myself. As the day has continued I can tell it's definitely floral, but I'm not picking up any of the caramel (or "modern caramel," whatever that is) that they mention in the description of the scent. I don't really detect any sweetness to it at all. It gets 5 stars because it is holding up really well instead of wearing off quickly like so many other fragrances and if it's the type of scent you're into then it's definitely worth the money. I think I'll have a hard time even finishing the tiny sample I have and I definitely wouldn't purchase it for myself.

  • Prada Beauty INFUSION D'IRIS Eau de Parfum

I wanted to like this perfume, I really did. Most of my favorites are floral! But there was just something about this that I didn't like, or maybe it didn't work with my body chemistry the way I wanted, but it's a no from me. This is another scent I would recommend sampling (on your skin!) before purchasing, just to be safe.

  • E.L.F Studio Conditioning Lip Balm

    E.L.F Studio Conditioning Lip Balm

    Good color, not great formula

I have this in a red color and I've been using it consistently...but I don't love it. The color wears off pretty quickly so I end up feeling like I'm constantly reapplying. But because the shade I have is so bright, I've found I have to be extremely careful not to over-apply or I end up looking ridiculous with lips that are too brightly colored (I have fair skin). I don't feel like this product is "conditioning" at all. In fact, if I use it when my lips are unusually dry, it almost stings a bit and feels uncomfortable. Besides the color being nice (when I don't accidentally overdo it), I will say there is a lot of product in the container for not a lot of money. Even with as often as I have to reapply this, it is lasting a long time, so if you actually like the way this feels it's a great value. When mine runs out, I won't be replacing it.

  • E.L.F. Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick

I have two of these, but the one I've been using most is the shade called "Sangria Starters." It's kind of a mauve-y neutral shade that works fine with my fair skin and red hair, but there's nothing terribly exciting about it. The other shade I have is a bit brighter, but I haven't worn it as much yet. I don't really love the formula of this gloss. It smells like they tried to make it mint scented or flavored, but they missed and it mostly just smells like makeup. The texture is fine. It's smooth and not super sticky. It doesn't last very long before I need to reapply, though they do call it a "gloss" so I guess that's normal? Regardless, I'm not really impressed with it. I do kind of like the packaging. I find it easier to apply without a mirror than a normal gloss with a wand. Mostly, though, this product is underwhelming. I'll use the two I have, because I have them, but I won't buy this product again (even at the typically low ELF price).
