  • Dior Addict Lip Tattoo

This has great reviews elsewhere so after more than a year of staring at it and debating which color I wanted, I gave it a try. Immediately after application, it's gorgeous and perfect. Great color and feels very light, almost like I wasn't wearing any lip product at all (if you're into that feeling...it was slightly unsettling for me). Unfortunately, it wore off surprisingly quickly and unevenly. I thought this was perhaps my fault, so I started using an overnight lip mask for moisture and exfoliating more. The second time I wore it, it was even worse. I could not believe how quickly it was wearing off...but only in certain spots. It was very frustrating and I ended up returning the product.

  • Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gloss

This is a really great lip gloss. It has an excellent texture, scent and flavor and I always felt it had just the right amount of sparkle. It comes in lots of great shades (07 was my favorite). Unfortunately it does contain gluten, so when I found out I have Celiac disease I had to throw mine out and I can't buy them anymore. But if you don't have any issues with gluten, I highly recommend this product. I've given many as gifts to friends who also love it!

  • First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

First Aid Beauty makes my favorite moisturizer, so I was excited to try out a sample of their facial cleanser. There's nothing super fancy about it. It's just a simple, unscented, foaming cleanser, but it really does the job. My skin was incredibly clean after use, without feeling dry or tight at all. I have a couple different favorite cleansers already that I use regularly, but I can respect a cleanser that doesn't bother with all the bells and whistles and still gets the job done. I would definitely recommend this one!

  • Philosophy Time in a Bottle Age-Defying Serum for Eyes

This brand has very rarely impressed me. I see so much advertising for it and a lot of people make a big deal about all their products, but most of them are just unimpressive to me. This serum is another one of those. It is relatively light and goes on smoothly, sinking in quickly. But in the morning it's not any better (or worse, to be fair) than any other average, boring, unimpressive moisturizer or serum. It did not seem "age defying" at all and didn't improve my skin tone the way other skincare products have. I used the full sample which amounted to five nights in a row, which I would think is long enough to see results if it is one of those long acting products, but it really failed to perform in my opinion. So I continue to not want to recommend this brand to anyone.

  • Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunscreen Spray
    10.0

    Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunscreen Spray

    Surprisingly effective

I have been a die hard fan of Neutrogena's sunblocks for years. They first impressed me with their "dry touch" lotion, but over the years I have really fallen in love with the sprays. These are so much easier to use and apply evenly, in my opinion, than a lotion in a squeeze tube. This one for use on wet skin is truly the best. My husband and I packed several cans of this to use on our honeymoon in Punta Cana. We are both fair skinned and knew we'd be spending a lot of time at the beach and next to the pool so we needed something reliable and you know what? Neither of us got a sunburn in the entire week and a half we were there. I was skeptical of the SPF 50 because I usually prefer 75 or higher (I've read the research but I like to play it safe) but this truly was just as effective as any higher SPF sunscreen I've ever used, if not more. It's just so handy! We would apply to dry skin before we left the room, but we could also reapply on wet skin after a dip in the pool or the ocean--either way it protected us perfectly every time. I highly recommend this and will always, always buy it.

  • Arbonne RE9 Advanced Corrective Eye Cream

I have a favorite eye cream already, but whenever I receive free samples, I'm more than happy to give them a chance! This one was well worth it. The cream is not super thick, but don't be mistaken--it is VERY effective. My fine lines are less noticeable, have NO dark circles (I didn't anyway, but that's from the other cream I was using--they have not returned as I've been using this cream for weeks now), and no puffiness at all. This brand is expensive, but you only need the tiniest amount of this cream to see results (I've been milking the sample packet for at least two months now, and it's still not empty), so I think the expense is definitely worth it. I'm impressed with this brand as a whole! It's expensive but incredibly effective.

  • E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator
    3.0

    E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator

    Too harsh for me

I wanted to like this for so many reasons. This brand is so wonderfully affordable, plus this product has what I consider a most pleasant and not too sweet vanilla scent. When it was on a window sill for the duration of a very long, very hot shower it worked beautifully and I loved it. But if I had to use it cold or at room temperature? It was like rubbing coarse sandpaper on my lips and it was awful. So most of the time it was too harsh for me, and sometimes it was too hard to even get any exfoliation out of it at all and it was just a waste of time and energy. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this one and I will not be continuing to use it. Which is a shame because of the affordability and my general love for this brand. Just my luck, I very much prefer a way more expensive lip exfoliator.

  • Julep Nail Color
    7.0

    Julep Nail Color

    Very resistant to chipping!

I have this polish in two shades and am seriously considering adding more to my collection. I've been a hardcore OPI fan for years and years, but Julep really impresses me! The brush is not my favorite design, but it isn't my least favorite, either. It could be flatter and wider and the polish would be a little easier to apply, but it certainly wasn't difficult or impossible to use. Both of my shades are cream formulas that were opaque after two coats. The first time I used Julep, there wasn't even the tiniest hint of a chip for a FULL WEEK after application. I am not exaggerating. On the 8th day they finally started chipping a teeny tiny bit at the tips. In full disclosure, I'm pretty serious about my at home manicures. I use a buffer to rough up the nail surface a little, which in my experience helps polish from any brand last a bit longer. I use a Sally Hansen base coat and top coat, and the top coat I've also noticed helping to prevent chipping. But these are the steps I take with every at home manicure and none of them last as well as the Julep did. I did get some bubbles in that first application, but that is a user error--I often accidentally put the top coat on too thick, which always causes bubbles for me. The 2nd time I used Julep that didn't happen. It also chipped a little sooner the 2nd time, but only after I spent the entire day deep cleaning my almost 1100 sq ft apartment. That's going to trash any manicure! I'm interested in trying other shades, especially some that aren't cream shades as some other reviews mentioned a major difference in consistency between shade types.

  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

I have acne prone skin and I found I had the best results when I cut back on "treatment" type products and switched them out for products mean for normal or combination skin (as opposed to products for acne prone skin). I put this on at night, but not even every night, only if I've washed my face and notice some dry patches. It evens my skin back out after just one or two uses and it doesn't cause any breakouts or greasy feeling. It's one of the more reasonably priced face creams (that I've found) and since I use it so infrequently, it lasts a long time!

  • Peter Lamas Citrus-C Facial Cleanser

This is a really nice cleanser! A friend gave me a sample tube and I really enjoyed using it. As expected, it has a pleasant citrus scent. I love citrus scents, especially in the morning when I'm trying to wake up for the day. This product got my face wonderfully clean but without irritating my skin at all. It didn't dry out my skin and didn't cause any breakouts. I didn't need to use much product to wash my face so the small tube lasted a pretty long time. I've never seen this brand in a store, but if I did I would certainly consider buying it!
