    Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil

Tough concealor, great for serious cover.

I'm a big fan of UD's other 24/7 products so I was eager to try this when it came out. It has a similar consistency to its lip and eye siblings: creamy upon application but sticks fast once it sets and wears all day. Great thick coverage makes it great for blemishes, though I did find it a bit too heavy for smaller imperfections like the shadows along the bridge of my nose.

  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

Fabulous formula, would love to see this released in more shades!

Lovelovelove these! These are some of the nicest lip liners I've ever used. They're creamy enough to wear I can easily line and fill in my lips without priming them with lip balm first. Most liners drag on my lips if I use them on bare lips, which is a drag because applying balm first lessens their length of wear but applying them dry makes it nearly impossible to apply them evenly. Not so with these! I can easily fill them in and it ends up looking as good as if I was wearing lipstick rather than just liner. But still, their creaminess does not mean they transfer or wear off more quickly than other liners! On the contrary, even after I apply gloss on top, my liner stays on for at least 6 hours even if I'm eating and drinking. That's pretty impressive. The colors they released are nice too, I especially love Wicked. It's such a nice pink that I've worn it on its own with a bit of clear gloss on top. I really hope they release more shades for this product! I can't say enough nice things about it.

  • L'Oreal Paris Infallible 8 Hr Le Gloss
    8.0

L'Oreal Paris Infallible 8 Hr Le Gloss

Doesn't last quite as long as advertized, but still impressive

I kind of love this lipgloss. It's not perfect by any means, and doesn't even do all that it claims on the packaging, but I really like this product. I bought one in Undeniable Mauve when these first came out, and liked it enough that I ended up buying two more in Fiery and Raisin. I'm particularly fond of Fiery and Indeniable Mauve, and find myself reaching for them often. To start off with, no, the lipgloss does not last 6 hours. But I didn't really expect it to so that wasn't a big deal. I don't think I've found a long-wear lipcolor yet that lasts on me even close to what the product claims. So I bought this hoping that I'd find a color that would last at least 2-3 hours (normal gloss lasts maybe 45-90 minutes), and this did it. It lasted on me at least as well as a good lipstick, and so it did as much as I had hoped it would. The color in this product typically lasts about 3-5 hours on me, though the shine/glossiness lasts about 60-90 minutes. It is not budge proof, but I can talk and eat with it on and it stays on. It also wears evenly which is good news. A lot of longwearing lipcolors tend to get patchy after a few hours. The colors are sheer but buildable. A lot of longlasting lipcolors are a nightmare if you try to apply more than one coat . I haven't experienced that with this one. The lipgloss is also a bit sticky, but no more so than most lipglosses IMO. The stickiness is just *different* than most glosses. It's the sort of tackiness you experience with most liquid long lasting lipcolors, though not as severe here. With a lot of longlast lipsticks (MAC's, Maybelline's Max Factor, etc.), the tackiness is so strong that I can't comfortably wear them without some sort of gloss coat on top. I don't have that problem here. It's tacky, but not unpleasant. The color offerings for this product are pretty good too. I have 3 already and would consider buying more. Overall, my only complaints with this product are that the glossiness fades long before the color does AND that it's pretty pricey for a drugstore lipgloss. Thankfully it's fairly easy to find these on sale.

  • Maybelline New York Great Lash Washable Mascara
    6.0

Maybelline New York Great Lash Washable Mascara

Decent mascara if you already have great lashes....

...but probably disappointing if you don't! Doesn't do much in the way of lengthening or adding volume. Doesn't have a particularly great brush or exceptional formula. It's like the Ford Taurus of mascaras: nothing about it is likely to jazz you but if you're just needing a bit of color and definition it'll get to where you need to go. It's cheap, it's good in a pinch, but not special at all IMO.

  • Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser

My mom's been using this to remove her eye makeup since the late 70s at least, and while I tried to branch out and find something of "my own" to use while I was in my teens nothing ever worked as well at getting stubborn eyeliner and mascara off as Mom's tub of Abolene! It's gentle and rinses away cleanly. I don't use it on my full face as I have oily skin and need something a little more aggressive than this on my nose, forehead and cheeks, but nothing beats abolene in terms of makeup and grime removal. It's really affordable as a tub costs less than $10 and can last me a year or more.

  • L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Explosion Carbon Black Mascara

When I first heard about L'Oreal releasing a mascara similar to Givenchy Phenomen'Eyes I was intrigued. The round, spiky brush first spotted on the Givenchy mascara is so peculiar it's nearly impossible not to want to try it, but the nearly $30 price tag made it a bit too spendy to purchase for the sake of experimentation. A similar brush from L'Oreal would give people the opportunity for people to get their feet wet with this new style of mascara brush at a more affordable price point. Now that I've had the opportunity to try this out, I'm awfully glad I didn't splurge for the Givenchy mascara. This brush is just too challenging for every day use. Don't get me wrong, it's far from awful. The mascara is capable of delivering great length and volume as promised, and I've never had better luck reaching the tiny lashes in both inner and outer corners, but the tiny brush and its goop-attracting wand just make this too time consuming and messy for every day use. The small brush means you have to do three times as many swipes to apply mascara to the entire lashline as its tininess means fewer hairs are touched at once, Also, while I didn't have much trouble applying my mascara clump free on my right eye, my poor dexterity meant that while I was applying everything in a right to left fashion meant that all the goop stuck to the wand came into contact with my lashes when I tried to do my left eye making the lashes look caked and clumpy. I tried blotting the wand to see if that would help, but no dice. Perhaps if I were able to manage holding the brush "backwards" while doing my left eye I wouldn't have an issue, but I can't manage it. At least not unless I'm able to really take my time doing my lashes. The formula is also wetter than most mascaras so it stays in danger of smudging or smearing just from blinking too much or light contact longer than most, but once it sets (maybe 2-4 minutes later) it's pretty stable. It does flake a bit , though I think that may have more to do with my wand-caused overapplication as it seemed to flake worse on my left than right. Overall, the brush is interesting but there are many other mascaras on the market that can give the same level of thickness, length and "fanned lash" look that have less arduous learning curves. I'll keep the tube because of its proficiency at capturing smaller lashes in tighter spots but I don't seem myself using it often for the entire eye.

  • MAC Strobe Liquid

    MAC Strobe Liquid

Makes Skin Look Lovely And Luminous

Fantastic product! Hands down the best highlighter I've ever tried. Only takes a little to do its thing, and it makes your skin GLOW in a way that looks lovely and natural and not like you're ready to hit the clubs. Doesn't make you look glittery, shimmery or shiny, just perfectly luminous. I mix it in equal parts with liquid foundation (just a little pump of each) on the back of my hand and then apply it all over my face. Then I might apply just a bit extra on the sides of my nose right next the inner corners of my eyes as that's where my dark shadows tend to show up if I haven't been sleeping well. Then I'll apply whatever concealer, bronzer, beauty powder, etc. I had planned for the day. My skin just looks great. I've been getting so many compliments. The product itself is very light, so much so that I can't see it being used as a moisturizer. It's so thin it's a bit runny, and I'm thinking it must have a high water content. I have combo skin that leans toward being oily, especially on my cheeks and nose, and this hasn't caused any problems. It should work just as well on oily skin.

  • MAC Plushglass
    7.0

    MAC Plushglass

Good lipglass but not great as a lip plumper.

I'm really happy with the plushglass I bought as I love the shade (Oversexed) but overall I'm not terribly impressed with this line. If you're considering this because you want a lipgloss that'll give you lusher lips look elsewhere. The formula looks and feels almost identical to MAC's normal lipglass except with some mild tingliness (MUCH less bothersome than with some plumpers. Not strong enough to be uncomfortable, at least not to me!) upon application and a different smell. Same viscosity, same level of shine, same level of stickiness. These glosses tend to be very sheer which makes all but the shade I bought (Oversexed) unappealing to me as I like my gloss to provide both color and shine. Oversexed looks pretty dark and vampy in the tube, but turns into a lovely "just bitten" berry shade on my lips. I'd definitely repurchase Oversexed, but I'm unlikely to buy one of these otherwise. The color range just isn't to my taste and the lack of plumping action removes any added plus to draw me in.

  • Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse

Great foundation! Not too wet or too dry and it doesn't feel heavy on. Offers medium coverage and spreads pretty smoothly on when used alone, though I personally like to sheer it up a bit and add some glow to it by mixing it with another product (MAC's Strobe Liquid). Good range of shades which is always a plus. It's nice to be able to find a light foundation that is neither too orange, yellow or pink. I'm not sure I love this foundation enough to stay faithful to it should something else catch my eye when I run out but I'd definitely be open to repurchasing.

  • MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush
    10.0

    MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush

    Couldn't live without!

I've had one of these for 5 years now and it's still my favorite for applying bronzer, highlighters, face powder and too-bright blushes. The build of the brush helps to apply your makeup sheerly and evenly giving you an airbrushed look. I've even had a MA apply liquid foundation on me using this and the results were spectacular. Much better than if a sponge or traditional foundation brush were used. I haven't tried that at home as I use mine daily for my mineralized skinfinishes or beauty powders and I don't have the time to washy and dry it in the morning so I can use the same brush for both, but I'm sorely tempted to buy a second one of these for foundation use and likely will at some point. The high price is worth it too. I've had the same brush for years, have used it every day, and it's held up extremely well. The quality of this brush is also head and shoulders above its cheaper competitors. I haven't found a skunk brush anywhere that comes close to MAC's in terms of bristle density, softness and durability. This brush is an investment to be sure, but a worthwhile one. I wouldn't waste my money on any of its imitators!
