UPDATE: I took this powder down from an 8 to a 6. I think I might have been a bit "generous" the first time around. :) I have been using it off and on and picked it up again for the summer and was really disappointed. Enough so that it went in the garbage after a few weeks. It didn't keep the shine at bay for very long at all and if applied too much, will leave a white cast on skin. Not worth the price. 7/9/14 .................................................. This is a great powder; don't get me wrong. I purchased it this past summer to keep oil at bay. My skin is oily in the summer and combo the rest of the year. I think I paid $20 or $30 for it, which is considered a "prestige" brand, according to my pocket book! It is about 4 or 5 times the cost of what I would typically spend for a similar product. It is made out of rice powder and is translucent so it will work with all skin tones. I thought the powder was nice and worked well but there was nothing about it that stood out as anything extraordinary. I paired it with the UD Deslick spray and maybe got an extra hour or two before I had to blot or powder again. If you have the budget, sure, give it a shot. If not, there are other powders (rice included) at a much better price point.

I have had a bit of hyperpigmentation on my face for years caused from breakouts that didn't heal properly. I have been to a dermatologist and had acid applied to them ($80), used RX hydroquinone ($140+), glycolic acid RX moisturizer ($25) along with dozens and dozens of over the counter products in an effort to correct this issue ($350-??). The reason I include the pricing is that this little miracle in a jar is under $6 - yes, $6. The thought of all the money wasted it enough to make me ill! Ladies, save your money. This product has the highest level of hydroquinone that an over the counter product can carry, which if you recall above, I previously used hydroquinone in a RX which for the price difference did not have a significant % more than the Nadinola. In fact, I saw BETTER results with the Nadinola. The RX was almost too strong and created a bluish/black spot (a side effect of too much hydroquinone) on my skin. I then had to wait a few days for the spot to clear up, which pretty much defeated the purpose. I apply this on the spots only twice per day and let it absorb; I also use sunscreen religiously as prevention is even more important! There is mineral oil in this product, so be careful when applying to areas that may be prone to breakouts. However, I really haven't had any challenges with that and I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts. I would definitely recommend giving this a try! I will not be flushing money down the toilet any longer. I have been using this for the past several months and the improvement is huge; be consistent and persistent and you WILL see results. (FYI - this product is found in the ethnic aisle and can be used on all skin colors and tones.)

Wow. It has been awhile since I have found a "product of the moment" that I am OBSESSED with and one that frankly, is so cheap; it is a miracle! I have really odd, if I can use a technical term, "yucky" curls. They are limp, unstructured, somewhat frizzy (as most waves/curls are) and I have spent YEARS looking for a product that would allow me to not have to do a blowout every day; a real time saver. Within the last year, I found a product by Bath & Body Works (already reviewed) and while it worked, it was way too expensive (at about $15 a bottle), sometimes left my hair a little crunchy looking while also a bit greasy on the roots, and most importantly, it was discontinued. This product far surpasses the previous and at a fraction of the price at under $4 - whoop whoop! What a score. I would recommend to anyone, especially those that have struggled to get a TRUE beachy wave, with more structure and definition. This is phenomenal and it turns my limp waves into pretty curls!

This is a decent blush/Bronzer option. Let's start with the pros! I love that it comes with a mirror; not all compacts do anymore and it was a pleasant surprise. :) The packaging is nice and very sturdy; it felt heavier in my hand than expected. The coordinated colors were attractive and very wearable and versatile. However, the application was a big mess. The bronzer, while attractive in the packaging, appeared muddy looking when I swatched it. There is also no divider between the two colors; that wouldn't necessarily be a challenge except that this compact smears really easily. After just one use, bronzer ended up on the blush side and vice versa. Unfortunately, it wasn't powder that I could just blow it off. The other option is to just swirl the colors together as if it was designed that way. However, I found that the bronzer was too intense and took over the pale peachy pink blush. I found that I much preferred the blush to the color of the bronzer. For "natural glow" it was too much for my medium skin. On the plus side, the applicator was angled and would be perfect for contouring.

Finally - a self-tanner with next to nothing in odor, a pretty bronze glow AND a price point that almost anyone can afford. This is a definite winner. :) I usually use self-tanner at night, but this can absolutely be used in the morning with no concerns of odor during the day. I prefer the gradual tanners like this one because they are so much easier to apply and if I am in a rush, I don't have to be TOO careful and worry about streaking; there is no streaking with this product. There are almost always coupons in the paper for Suave products too, and they are often on sale. I have never tried the St. Tropez product that they compare this product, too, but I am definitely pleased with Suave. My skin is fair to medium, but in the summer I use the medium/tan gradual self-tanner and it works perfectly.

If you are not looking for sun protection, this is a good product. However, the sun protection lacks in this product which is why I had to give it a 6. The SPF is only 20 and the minimum on the face really should be 30. The next challenge with the SPF is that in order to get enough sun protection, you would have to apply TWICE the amount of product which would result in extremely ORANGE skin. As a result, I add the amount that I need and use a separate SPF or apply at night. This product also does not offer broad spectrum protection; as per the package, it only helps to prevent sunburn and not to prevent skin cancer or skin aging. In a nutshell, this is great for the color, so maybe applying at night would be best; however, it is not a product that provides ample sun protection. I purchased this in the medium/tan and it is perfect. The product is also oil free yet rich in consistency. I would definitely give it a try.

This is a HUGE drugstore find and if you don't already have it, go...go...GO! The color in Brunette is very close if not exact to MAC Espresso. The kit is a sure thing; it comes with a small set of tweezers, a stiff angled brush, a pot of eyeshadow and another pot of wax. Instead of the wax, I use the Maybelline clear mascara but have used the wax before and it works perfectly. At under $5, this is a great bargain and I would definitely recommend. You will not be disappointed.

Yes, it is true - one of the most disappointing products I have tried ever. Yet, I still gave it a 3? It's rare that I give any review a 3 or less; the product really has to be a challenge in order to get that kind of a rating from me. This product left me frustrated and even worse, the spots were still there and that was after the 2 weeks that Aveeno states you will see results. I have always had some mild hyperpigmentation on my left cheek (old acne scars). It has been a battle; I have had acid applied to it, used RX strength products, glycolic acid lotions, AHA's, etc. But let's face it; prevention is always key, so I have been using SPF RELIGIOUSLY for years and been very patient with the process. I received the best results with Nadinola and have been using that since, but I did find this item somewhat useful as an overall lightening/clarifying/toning moisturizer but not as a concentrated product to lighten specific hyperpigmentation or "spots" on the face. You will be sorely disappointed. I saw no results. What I mean by that is that it will leave your skin looking nicer than before, but on larger areas and not on spots (mica?). The moisturizer itself is nice but has nothing of real substance to "break down" the melanin in the skin (the Vitamin A included is barely even notable). As long as you have realistic expectations, and if you prefer Aveeno products and want to improve "tone" on the skin ever so slightly, this may be an option for you, However, there are many, many, many better options out there that WORK.

I stopped using an eye cream for awhile and noticed that my undereye area was looking a bit dry and dull, so decided I needed to pick up my game! I tried this product (which is full of yummy cell communicating ingredients) with an anti-oxidant serum. First, BIG kudos to Cerave for putting an eye cream in the appropriate container - a tube!! Otherwise the light and air effected ingredients will become much less effective. Even designer brands don't seem to grasp this simple concept. Additionally, at around $13 a tube, the price is right! The ingredients are of a high level and can easily rival a more expensive cream. It is a rich, thick cream but does not leave the skin greasy or create clogged pores as a result. It also wears perfectly under makeup. One of the leading causes of wrinkles is dryness and this product delivers all of my expectations and then some! I apply the cream on the undereye area, crows feet area (none yet but good for prevention!), lid, brow area and even the very top of the cheeks/bottom of undereye area where I often see crepiness occur. I would definitely recommend!

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Airbrushing Pressed Powder SPF 30
Not easily blendable
I debated on whether I should go lower with my rating, but this powder is workable. There aren't many color choices, but I love the fact that there is a SPF. I apply a moisturizer in the am with SPF, and wanted something that I could use to touch up the protection for the afternoon. It does cover well but I found it to be a bit chalky and heavy; it required a bit more blending than most other powders would. The coverage was okay (meaning that it did cover pores and blemishes, etc) - I think the challenge was just that it didn't look all that natural. After I apply it with the brush that in itself is awkward to use, I then use my fingers and hand to blend it further and sometimes will spritz a Skindanavia product on top to make it look more natural. A Evian atomizer to go would work just as well. I may have to end up repurchasing only because I had extreme difficulty finding a powder with a significant SPF option.
