Each time we girls talk about cotton swabs, there is always someone who introduces me another useful tip using Q-tips. It shows how much multi-tasking they are. I also use Q-tips to get rid of excess nail polish around my cuticles. My husband uses it to clean his electric shaver. Naturally Q-tips is more expensive than store brands, but their cotton is certainly more plush.

It hydrates my feet, just like many good body lotion or foot cream. This cream is light and non-greasy. I put this on before bed, and I wear a pair of all cotton socks overnight. My feet feel smooth in the morning, but I don't think it actually soften my feet. This is great for regular dry skin, but for more severely dry, rough feet, cracked heels and ankles, I like Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Foot Cream better, which is more concentrated.

Since I am satisfied with Laura Mercier Foundation Oil Free Primer, I bought their regular version for my mom who has dry skin. To compare the two products, I tried this a few times. The staying power of my foundation (worked for both liquid and powder) is definitely prolonged. But there is a certain difference in the consistency. This primer feels heavier and stickier. My mom also thinks that it is a bit sticky. So if you have oily skin, try their Oil Free primer.

I tried a few different fragrances. These soap smelled nice, so far we liked Cucumber Melon, Black Raspberry, Cherry Blossom. They are gentle on hands. BUT I hate to say this, because it is so gentle, this soap is not ideal in the kitchen for me. When my hands were dirty or greasy from cooking, I had to wash 2, 3 times with this soap and my hands still felt not completely clean. Also, the fragrance lingered on my skin (and I don't want to handle food right away with scented hands). It smells so yummy when I left one on bath rooms, kids wasted this soap a lot. That's actually a compliment, but since this was not the cheapest hand soap, I replaced it with a drug store brand. If you like scented hand soap, I recommend BBW's Aromatherapy line.

Sally Hansen Salon Formula Polish Remover For Artificial & Sensitive Nails
Much better than dollar store brands
I don't have sensitive nails, but since it is the same price as their Extra Strength version, I wanted to see whether I would like this or not. It has quite similar chemical/alcohol smell. I cannot honestly say that this is gentler, but this remover seems to be a bit thinner than the Extra Strength. As for the performance, it still removes nail polish off of my nails effectively. Compared to a dollar store nail polish remover, this one works much better and faster.

For regular itchy skin, we use body lotion. But when we only need just a dab, this concentrated cream is the way to go. So far we have used this cream for bug bites, skin irritation from grass and itchy hives. It really helps to reduce itchiness temporarily, and soothes all the redness caused by scratching skin. Since this cream is steroid-free, it became our family's staple product especially when we spend a lot of time outdoors.

Appletini smelled delicious, but only after a few minutes I sprayed, the scent seemed to vanish. Pity. I liked the scent. I know a body mist scent does not last long as perfume, but even for a body mist, this one lacked a lasting power. I can get similar or better products (Calgon, Bodycology) for less money.

Just like their matching shampoo, this conditioner has a mild minty scent. I noticed that the results are much better when I leave this on my hair for a few minutes longer. My hair looks shiny and feels soft after using the shampoo and conditioner. I don't see any difference on my hair roots or scalp, but my hair certainly looks healthier and less frizzy. When I use this shampoo and conditioner, I don't even need my regular intensive treatment or mask routine.

John Frieda Hydrate + Nourish Shampoo for Dry Scalp & Breakage-Prone Hair
My favorite John Frieda shampoo
I have tried a couple of John Frieda collection, but this is the best one so far. The shimmery and pearly light greenish-white color shampoo lathers and cleans extremely well without drying out my colored/damaged hair. I follow up with the matching conditioner. Then, when my hair is completely dry, I see shiny and healthy looking hair. I find their minty scent is milder than Aveda Rosemary Mint. If you like a strong minty scent, maybe Aveda's is for you. But in addition to the affordable price tag, I actually like the John Frieda's fragrance better than Aveda's. Surprise, surprise, my hair felt still good even the next day. It is not every day that I find my "next day" hair to be manageable and soft. If you love Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo but hate their price tag, try this one. So why not a perfect 10? I am not sure if this shampoo actually AWAKEN (or do anything to) my roots because my scalp does not feel any different.

The Almond Pistachio & Milk smells sweet as predicted, but it is not just sweet, but also has a hint of exotic spice fragrance. One of the ingredients is organic almond oil, thus, when I opened it, the butter does look a bit thick and greasy, but fortunately it does not feel oily or sticky on my skin at all. My skin feels hydrated and soft. The scent lingers for a while, but it is subtle. The tub resembles The Body Shop's but definitely this one is much cheaper. In other words, I can use it all over my body without feeling guilty.
