  • N.Y.C. New York Color Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder

An expensive price tag and a designer label on a cosmetic product doesn't always equal better quality. As a matter of fact, NYC proves this to me. I have Laura Mercier mineral setting loose powder which retails about $32.00 and I own this NYC loose translucent powder jar that only cost a couple of dollars. My better choice is actually is the NYC because it sets makeup with a flawless soft focus finish without leaving streaks or demarcation, it's an ultra soft loose powder that feels like velvet to the touch, and it's versatile because it can be used as a blot powder for any touch ups during the day, however not so convenient. The case is not a twist top jar, it just gets lifted up to expose the product but this can become a chaos because product can fall out to the sides everywhere or fly around. I don't recommend any usage with that coarse sponge puff it comes with, this is most best applied with a large powder brush or a kabuki. For midday touch ups, I'd recommend investing in a velour puff or something more softer and sturdier than the application this originally comes with. Another con is that this should always be stored upright because once product passes through the sifter, it stays mainly atop the barrier and a pile of product basically sits there making messes a more frequent occurring incident.

  • N.Y.C. New York Color Ultra Moist LipWear Lipstick

Decent lipstick, but long lasting, it's not. I've found this come off on beverages and glasses so it's not very appealing to your date to see that scarlet stain leftover from your lips that had just came off. However, this is one of the better products of NYC as the colors are more appealing that their other lipsticks they offer and they come in a variety of finishes. I don't use lipstick regularly, only for certain occasions so if you're my type, this might be your best bet for wearing it to a quick run somewhere or making an appearance, but like I said - not dinner or eating, this will fade. I also suggest using a lipliner to definte your lips with these as they can feather just as bit, but otherwise a pretty good product. I don't see anything exciting, outstanding, or overachieving about this but it's certainly a perfect choice for your day to day routine so you aren't reaching for your more expensive alternatives frequently that you adore so much.

  • N.Y.C. New York Color Liquid Lip Shine Lipgloss

A dollar or three would seem like an appealing price for a lipgloss doesn't it? With this New York Color lipgloss, it's hardly even worth a quarter, no offense. While it comes in a skinny square tube with a sponge wand, the product was so thick, it feels dreadful pulling it out and even worse being applied as my lips get tucked around and peeling some skin to make my lips appear chapped, it was just a throbbing, excruciating process for a makeup application. It is so thick and sticky, it can be compared to icing or frosting on a homemade cake, gah! The scent isn't exactly pleasing on these imposters either, I've had other drugstore lipglosses smell better than this sucker. Toss it out!

  • N.Y.C. New York Color Ultra Last LipWear Long-Wearing Lipstick

While probably only a select few of these days are flattering shades, the color selection is terrible especially with so many metallics on the shelf. I found that after purchasing a couple of these, I had chapped lips with lipstick on it which looked terrible and adding balm doesn't exactly cure the problem. If you find a shade that goes great on you, I'd suggest laying a sheer gloss over it so that it doesn't look so opaque and metallic or chunky as I've found with these. And the worst part of these lipsticks is that they can feather and bleed, I've seen it worn on an acquiantance and it's not a pretty picture to see.

  • N.Y.C. New York Color Long-Wearing Nail Enamel

If you can find a shade to be perfect to go on with one coating then great for you. I find that the colors aren't so true to life as they are so sheer out of the bottle. And layering them on causes a disaster because they take forever to dry and once it's touched, it appears to be a melted looking mess on your nail surfaces. Two hours later out of the shower, I find that the nail polish had already chipped, what a waste of time, right? The clear and translucent nudes are perfect for one or two applications of a sheer even coat but even those don't last past a couple days. I wasn't happy at all with this.

    N.Y.C. New York Color Eyelashes

    Ouch! Argh! Ooh! Ugh!

I've never tried falsies before and I didn't really have a need to because my eyelashes seem fine just the way they are and mascara alone usually does the trick. But because I've seen so many people rave about falsies, I thought it may give me that glam red carpet doe eyed look so to the store I went and because I just wanted to give it a try, I picked up the inexpensive ones. Wrong mistake of choosing New York Color because I found these were hard to the touch and trying to press these on were difficult because of the stiffness. So I cut them in half and they worked effectively on the outter corner of my lashes, however they felt so heavy and unnatural. One sneeze was all it took to displace them and it poked my eyes because of the rigid ends of this eyelash set. Skip out on this because I wouldn't want anyone else getting into an injury!

  • Shiseido The Makeup Pre-Makeup Cream SPF 15

A bland white sheen washes over my face after applying this product and found that my young skin looked older after applying foundation. While Shisiedo seems like a great skincare line, their makeup primer faltered. This left small bumps along my neck and jawline and found myself irritated within a few hours, after washing this off, I noticed redness in my cheeks. Oh no, what have I done? I've tried quite a few primers and this one by far isn't price effective to the quality as well as the lasting performance of makeup is questionable. After a week or two of usage, I decided I was going to give this away to someone who'll probably indulge in it rather than loathe it as much as I did. No more irritation signs after the use of this product so this had to be the culprit. I'd recommend something else as an alternative, especially those with sensitive skin should try Bare Escentuals Prime Time because it has no dyes, preservatives, oil, etc.

  • Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion

Yes! I'm excited to be the first to review yet another product. This emulsion goes on very silky and I love the way it feels. However, if you slab on plenty, you'll find that it won't completely absorb and for a price tag of $50.00 on an evening moisturizer, would you really want to waste product that way? I wasn't impressed with the White Lucent line I'd have to say but after a couple uses with this emulsion, I found that it wasn't pore clogging or irritating to my skin. Now, that's to say though depending on the level of your skin irritation how well you guys can tolerate fragrance in your product because this has a strong rose petal scent and while pleasant, I've found this quite irritating and reddening for some complexions. The bottle is elegant, sturdy, and has a subtle metallic white pearl sheen. I love how this looks on my makeup counter, especially when it's next to another white lucent product the same stature as this. I recommend this for evening purposes only because I find that this can cause makeup to be very oily or shiny regardless of the formula and it contains skin nourishing and developing ingredients that may make skin more sensitive to the sun. This made my skin so soft and it glowed. It took quite a while to run out of this product and while I'm not so eager to repurchase it because of the high price compared to the rest of my skin line, I find it worth it to have around so when I'm not obsessing about clothes, makeup, handbags, shoes, and every other girlie thing I splurge on, I'll go back to the counter and repurchase this again. As for evening the skin, I did see some improvement, nothing too major or life changing but enough to see that it does have some effect on the skin.

  • Shiseido The Makeup Accentuating Color for Eyes

You know that feeling when you order this juicy looking tender steak and in the photos it looks absolutely great but when you get it, it's dry and hard and then you find you spent $21.00 on that plate of dissatisfaction? Here it is. This eyeshadow, although in a creative, unique shape that comes at this price tag matches up in my opinion to the similarities of Clinique and Lancome makeup. While true these are silky, the pigments aren't very exciting in color selection and in finish. I found that these weren't too flattering unless they were used as a coordinating eyeshadow to my other shadow brands of the complimenting colors. I have two which is the jade green and the other I can't recall the name at the moment but is the picture posted here that is of a soft tomato shade. I definitely wouldn't purchase these; I got these as a gift, fortunately, a great add to my makeup collection but a drag to buy and use alone.

  • Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

    Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

Counting Bills Isn't Necessary For Great Lashes

This certainly does the job an eyelash curler is supposed to do but is it worth the twenty dollar bill? I've found that after trial and error, that eyelashes curles don't coincide with me at all and maybe one factor is because of my genes, my eyelashes are already have a curve but I didn't notice that until a Sephora employee noticed it herself and explained why it might have not been so effective. But let's give this a fair honest rating, my close friend uses it and finds that it does define her lashes but while she and I picked up two other common eyelash curlers and tested them, we found they did the job just as well without the name of the elite beauty industry attached to the curler or the box. Conveniently, this does come with a replacement rubber foundation which is absolutely terrfic as I find many people throw their curlers away after it just wears down because they have no idea where to purchase replacements or can even find one to fit it. Thanks, I'll keep it in my train case in the situation that someone needs it but otherwise, go on ahead and purchase yourself that five or six dollar one.
