  • EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm

I have a couple of these lip spheres and they are great! The design is super cute and very purse/desk friendly. These lip balms are unique because they are large enough to go over both your top and bottom lip which is great for when you want quick relief from chapped lips. The flavors of these are fruity and smell pleasant but have no taste. I personally dislike when lip products have any kind of taste because it taints my drinks so smell without taste is a big plus for me. The lip balm lasts for a good amount of time on my lips, but nothing extraordinary. I don't think these do much by way of penetrating the moisture into your lips but they are still good at preventing chapped lips.

    Benefit BADgal Lash

    An Old Favorite

I have purchased quite a few tubes of this since I discovered it a number of years back. Bad Gal Lash has a massive wand that really grips your lashes and creates volume and length. It is quite similar to Dior Show, but the formula is less dry and it is slightly cheaper. At $19 though, this is still a pricey mascara. I prefer this to the newer "They're Real" Mascara from Benefit. This has a nicer, non plastic wand, is easier to remove at night and costs less money. If you are after volume and length and enjoy supersized mascara wands, Bad Gal is a sure bet. I only knocked off a few stars because of the price. Mascara isn't meant to be kept long after opening so $19 is a bit of a splurge for a product with such a short shelf life.

  • Mario Badescu Skin Care Mario Badescu Drying Cream

I am skeptical of products that claim to heal/eliminate blemishes because in my experience, they just haven't worked. I received a sample of this along with some other Mario Badescu products and I am quite impressed with everything I have tried. So far, this Drying Cream is the standout of the bunch. I don't have severe acne, but I do get the occasional spot and I have a tendency to scar. My blemishes usually take about four to five days to go through their cycle and heal. I dabbed a bit of this on a blemish that was beneath the surface of my skin at night after washing my face. It was fairly large and I knew that it would get bigger as it came to the surface (glamorous!). The next morning I was impressed to see that the blemish had reduced by half its size! I applied this again that morning and night and by the following day, the blemish was practically gone. I didn't experience any irritation, flaking or sensitivity from this either. My normal healing time was cut in half. I call that a big success. Applying this also curbs my urge to pick at any pimples I have which helps in and of itself. A little of this goes a long way so even my small sample jar has lasted me a couple months. I definitely think this is worth checking out if you get pimples and want them out of your way in less time.

  • Befine Exfoliating Cleanser
    8.0

    Befine Exfoliating Cleanser

    Nice All in One Product

I sampled this through Birchbox and loved it. I would have liked to purchase the full size through them but they stopped carrying it (sad!). The first thing I noticed about this was its smell. Since it has sugar in it, it smells wonderful. The texture is grainy but not harsh at all. It feels really nice on the skin and seems to actually do something. I use the Clarisonic on my skin most days, but something like this is great for when you want to cleanse and exfoliate without going through a long routine. That is what makes the product stand out for me...it cleanses and exfoliates in one step. So many exfoliating products require that you use them on cleansed skin. When you are short on time, or feeling lazy, that can be cumbersome. My skin feels refreshed and smooth after using this, not tight or irritated at all. I have to knock off a few stars because this retails for $24 for a mere 4 ounces and it isn't widely available. And even though this is a gentle product, I doubt it would be the best option for your skin to use this everyday, since it does have physical exfoliators in it.

  • Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer

    Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer

    Matte and Natural

I picked this boxed bronzer up many years ago when it seemed quite difficult to find a non-sparkly bronzer. I remember being at Sephora with a friend (who bought her own box of Hoola) when the sales associate tried to dissuade us from getting this because it "would be like rubbing dirt on your face". I'm glad we didn't listen! This bronzer is easy to use and a little goes a long way. I am fair and the seemingly dark color works nicely on my skin tone. Despite having this for years, I still have plenty of product left, showing that the amount you receive helps offset the $28 price tag. I dislike the packaging of mine because the top is not secure. They have since changed this so the lid flips up and remains attached, but I still doubt the security of a flip up top in one's makeup bag. It's also really bulky, so not ideal for anyone's makeup bag anyway. The brush is useless, so I'd recommend tossing that straight away. Packaging and brush aside, this a lovely, matte, natural and long lasting bronzer that is definitely worth a look if you are interested in something for contouring.

  • Tarte EmphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener
    4.0

    Tarte EmphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener

Nice Color but not Long Lasting

I bought this to line the inner rims of my eyes for that super awake, doe eyed look. The color is really nice and the pencil is creamy and easy to apply. This can also double as a super subtle brow highlight. The color is so natural when using as an inner rim brightener. It is not too bright and does a great job at waking you up without being too obvious. The main issue I have with this is that it does not last long. It doesn't seem like there was much attempt made to make this water proof. For a product that is meant for the inner rims of your eyes, it really should be water proof. I also dislike the quality of the packaging. This is a twist up liner and I find that every time I take the cap off, the pencil is twisted way up. I have to manually push it down each time I open it. I would expect better packaging from an $18 liner. I love Tarte, but this product is a miss for me.

  • MAC Eye Brows
    6.0

    MAC Eye Brows

Lovely Formula and Application but Limiting Color Range

I have used this twist up pencil in both Lingering and Spiked. Lingering is the better match for me of the two, but it has too much red in it. In pictures my brows look totally auburn, even though my hair is more ash brown. It's just such a shame that MAC doesn't make these little pencils in more colors. I love the precision you get with this pencil because it is so thin. The formula is also quite nice and creamy, making application a synch. It does bother me that you can twist these up, but not down. You can never tell how much product you have left, and these go fast! If you use this regularly like I was, I'd recommend keeping a spare on hand because you could be in the middle of one brow and your pencil could run out without warning. Luckily these are eligible for the Back to MAC program. I am really fond of the formula and precision of these, but I have moved onto brow products that are better suited for my coloring.

  • NYX Cosmetics Roll On Shimmer

I received this in a beauty subscription box and was excited because I had never tried anything from NYX before. I got the pinky champagne shade and it looked so pretty in the bottle. Unfortunately this does nothing. The roller ball is awkward on your eyes. Terrible concept. I rolled this out onto my hand and then picked up the product to apply on my eyes and cheekbones. This was not very pigmented at all and when I tried to blend it, everything just rubbed off! Basically this dispenses a light dust of glitter/shimmer on your skin that in a matter of seconds will blow away. It has zero staying power. I am so glad I did not buy this outright.

  • bareMinerals Angled Blush Brush
    2.0

    bareMinerals Angled Blush Brush

    Try something else

I have had this brush for years and to its credit, it has held up pretty well. What I dislike about this is its scratchiness and flimsy feeling on my face. The bristles on this are not very soft compared to many of my other brushes. It does not feel nice on my skin at all. I also don't think this brush does a good job at picking up blush. I find that I have to repeatedly dip this into the blush I am using to get enough product. This brush is in no way dense so the bristles move to much on your face, making it feel flimsy. This is also really small. It's more like a travel brush than a real, quality brush. I have purchased a much better blush brush to use at home when applying my makeup in the morning. However, since this brush is so short, I keep it on hand in my makeup bag for touch ups and the like. I'd recommend saving your money for something better.

  • Lancome Juicy Tubes Original

I have been using Juicy Tubes since they first came out. I love the range of colors that Lancome offers with these. They have various shades, some with shimmer and some that are fairly opaque. One tube will last quite a while. I also really like that these have different scents and yet they don't taste like anything. I much prefer juicy tubes to MAC lip glasses. Juicy Tubes are so fun to use. I will continue to purchase them for as long as Lancome makes them. I just hope they never stop!
