  • Kiehl's Aromatic Blends: Orange Flower & Lychee

I first tried a sample of the shower gel in this scent and found it to be so intoxicating. I was thrilled to find out that they had this in perfume form. I got a tester of the fragrance and after the boyfriend gave it a major thumbs up, he bought me the large bottle for Christmas. This is a lovely, mellow and complex scent. It is so warm and sophisticated. I have never been a fan of really in-your-face perfumes so I love that this is a very subtle fragrance. The only bummer about this and why I have to knock a couple of stars off is that the scent does not last long at all. I am used to fragrance wearing off through the day, but this lasts just a couple hours. I have filled a travel atomizer with the scent and refresh it a couple times during the day, but I have never had to do this with any other perfumes I have used. It is worth it to me, because this is such a perfect scent for me and I enjoy it so much, but I truly wish this had more staying power.

  • Lancome Star Bronzer Natural Matte

    Lancome Star Bronzer Natural Matte

Great if you have fair skin

Being so pale, it can be difficult to find a nice bronzer for contouring that doesn't make my face look muddy or too orange. The Lancome Star Bronzer attracted me because the color looked so natural. This is the lightest bronzer I have ever used, making it great for those with super pale skin. The color is matte (like the name suggests) and it is a more cool-toned brown than most bronzers I have seen and tested. This is great because it looks like a more natural shadow on the face. I use this to contour my cheeks, along my jawline and on my temples and it works wonderfully. The color is very subtle, but you can build it up for whatever affect you are going for, making this such a versatile and useful product. If you are like me and have been frustrated with bronzers that look too obvious, too warm, or just plain bad, give this a test. It is a really unique bronzer. The packaging on this is also top notch. It's a very pretty compact and the mirror is generously sized. This closes tightly but doesn't actually latch, so you won't have to worry about a latch breaking in your makeup bag. This bronzer is sleek and useful in so many ways. I just wouldn't recommend it for those with darker complexions because it is such a light bronzer and you may not be able to build it up enough to get a great affect.

  • Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain
    10.0

    Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain

    Unique and amazing

What a wonderfully unique product. These are stains that remain glossy on your lips, last all day and feel completely weightless. I would love to buy just about all the shades that they have, if only I had the money! I have a coral shade and a plum shade and both are amazing. The color is extremely easy to apply and it can be built up for more intensity. I usually apply one coat, let that sit a few seconds and then go in for a second coat and the color is completely opaque and glossy. The gloss feeling wears off, but I am still amazed that after several hours, I look in a mirror and see that the color is still perfect and there is still a nice sheen to my lips. These are not the least bit sticky or heavy. They don't settle into the lines or cracks of your lips either which is so nice for such a long wearing product. These also don't feel like they are drying out your lips like so many stains tend to do. Long wear usually means drying but I don't experience any of that at all. The color selection within this range is fantastic. They have reds, corals, oranges, pinks, mauves, plums...everything. It is definitely worth it to stop at a makeup counter or Sephora to swatch these because it is difficult to determine how the color will develop without doing this. These may be expensive (it is YSL after all) but the quality of the product is amazing and I have yet to see anything else come out that can compare to this. The uniqueness of these glossy stains make them such a stand out product that is so worth the price you pay.

  • Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss
    10.0

    Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss

    True color glosses

I first picked this gloss up in "Pout" which is a baby pink with great color payoff. I have since bought a set for a friend who loved these and tried the "Tease" color for myself. These glosses are unique in that they give awesome, semi-opaque color with a glossy finish. It won't have the staying power of something like the YSL glossy stains, but these aren't claiming to be a stain either. I love that these are not sticky at all. They feel great on the lips and don't taste like anything. The design is really sleek and the range of colors has something for everyone. The name "lip enhancing" could be considered misleading because these glosses don't do anything to plump up your lips. If you read the product description though, they don't claim to do any plumping. This I love because I avoid plumping glosses since I find them uncomfortable and ineffective anyway. If you are interested in a colorful gloss with a great texture and lovely colors, give these a shot. I think these are some of the best glosses around!

  • Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder
    10.0

Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder

Great for setting makeup and touch ups

I bought this because I wanted something that would work well as a blotting powder for a midday touch up. I often apply this twice a day. Once in the morning to set my under eye concealer and foundation and then once during the day if I am getting a bit shiny. For these purposes, this powder is wonderful. This is really sheer, like the name suggests, so it won't make your face look cakey or overdone. This really helps my foundation stay in place and tones down the more dewy foundations I have for those days that I don't want to look as glowy. I have had my compact several months, use it everyday, and it still looks new. The mirror is nice and large and the packaging is sturdy so it is great for your travel makeup bag. The range of colors that Bobbi Brown has for face products is excellent, so you shouldn't have any issues getting a great match to your skin. This isn't going to provide much coverage, but that is not the purpose. It merely completes your face base and helps control shine. For this, I absolutely love this powder and plan to repurchase when my current compact runs out.

  • Clinique High Impact Mascara

    Clinique High Impact Mascara

    Great all around mascara

I have heard so many great things about the High Impact mascara line from Clinique and after trying a sample of their Glossy mascara, I was eager to give this one a try. At $18, it is fairly pricey, but still less than many of the other high end mascaras offered at department stores and Sephora (Lancome, Tarte, Urban Decay, etc.). This mascara did not disappoint! I love the traditional, natural bristle wand. It effectively grabs my lashes and coats them with product easily. I don't end up getting this all over my eye lids or under my eyes trying to get to my lashes. This provides a great combination of length and volume, which is awesome. I have even used this on my bottom lashes without getting raccoon eyes after a few hours. One of my favorite things about this mascara is that it leaves my lashes feeling fairly soft. So many mascaras harden on my lashes and make them feel clumpy and terrible by the end of the day. This hardly feels like I am wearing anything at all which is such a relief for someone like me who has sensitive eyes. My eyes are not itching and irritated by the end of the day when I wear this mascara. I am looking forward to trying some of the other variations within Clinique's High Impact line. Love this!

  • The Body Shop Body Butter

    The Body Shop Body Butter

    Ultra moisturizing and smells great

Over the years I have tried several of Body Shop's Body Butters. The only one I didn't care for (just because the scent wasn't for me) was the Shea body butter. These are ultra rich body lotions that are great if you have dry skin or if you love the scents that Body Shop has to offer. There is a body butter in just about every scent that the Body Shop offers. If you're a coconut fan, definitely give that one a try. It smells so authentic to me and is reminiscent of summer time. My favorite for a lighter scent is the Cocoa Body Butter. It adds a nice light scent, but isn't anything so strong that it will clash with whatever perfume you wear. You will need to allow extra time for these body butters to sink into your skin before you get dressed or what not. This is actually the only reason I am not giving these the full ten stars. It can be a bit annoying waiting for these to sink into the skin. What is great though, is that these provide lasting moisture. At the end of the day, I can touch my legs and they still feel so soft and nourished. The Body Shop is always running specials so these can be quite affordable. They also offer smaller sizes of these which are great for trying various kinds and/or for travel. These are such a signature Body Shop product and if you like scented body lotions, you should definitely pop into a store and smell around for your favorite.

  • The Body Shop Coconut Hand Wash

The Body Shop Coconut Hand Wash

    Nice bathroom soap

I love the Body Shop liquid hand soaps. I have had the coconut scent in my bathroom for some time and have quite enjoyed it. This is one of their few creamy soaps so it feels extra nourishing. Even just a little bit provides plenty of lather so the bottle lasts a long time. The scent is pretty powerful while you are washing your hands. It lingers a bit afterwards but not too much. This soap isn't too drying either which is really nice. If you like coconut scents, then this is definitely worth checking out. This smells just like their coconut body butter so if you like that, then you will certainly like this too.

  • Benefit Erase Paste
    8.0

    Benefit Erase Paste

    Creamy full coverage concealer

I bought this without doing much research and lucked out because I really love this concealer. This is great for under the eyes because it has some peachy undertones. The pot is rather deep so it is hard to get into with your finger (don't even try if you have long nails!). The plastic stick this comes with is easy to lose and doesn't work very well at grabbing the amount of product you want either. I'd recommend going in with a small concealer brush to get the right amount of product for either your dark circles or blemishes. I love how creamy this concealer is. It blends beautifully and does not feel cakey or look obvious. This lasts pretty well on the skin as well. A little goes a long way, so start small and build the product up if you need to. At $26 this concealer is fairly pricey, but the jar will last you quite a long time, even with every day use. I had to knock off a couple stars because the jar design makes it tricky to get at the product and for the lack of shades in the range. There are only three colors! The fairest works well for my pale skin but I could see this being a big issue for someone with even lighter skin than me or for those with darker skins. Nonetheless this is a great full coverage concealer worth checking out.

  • OPI Nail Lacquer

    OPI Nail Lacquer

    Wonderful

I am a nail polish fiend so I enjoy trying all different brands and lines of polish but I always come back to OPI. Like a fellow reviewer said, OPI polishes are simply the best! One of my favorite things about the original OPI polishes (not Nicole by OPI or Sephora by OPI, etc.) is the brush. It is fat and flat and just so easy to apply polish with. I have never had a streaky color in this line and their seasonal/special edition colors are great. I typically get about a week's wear from most of my polishes, when I apply a good base coat and a top coat. OPI is about the same, but I do notice a little less receding at the tips of my nails than with other brands (Deborah Lippmann, Essie, Zoya). As far as I know, these are not vegan and/or three-free which is the only reason I am not giving ten stars but other than that, these are perfect for me. Their unique glitter shades are some of the absolute best too. I always like checking out what OPI is coming out with because there is usually something that catches my eye, despite the embarrassing amount of nail polishes I have already amassed. Love OPI!
