I am a lip balm junkie and was attracted to the different packaging and the organic ingredients. However, the package turned out to be incredibly bulky and impractical for lip balm. The smell was subtle and pleasant; the shine was natural. I admit that I am very particular about my balms and this one didn't take the cake. For me, I have to constantly reapply. It provides very little moisture, even when I go over my mouth again and again. I have noticed that some formulas are better than others, but it is really hit or miss.

I honestly can't remember the last time I did a "1" review. If a product doesn't work for me, I can usually find other uses for it or at the very least, give the company the benefit of the doubt! However, this was probably one of the worst glosses I have ever tried, and believe me, I am a gloss girl and there have been A LOT. First the texture; sticky and syrupy. I purchased this in Plush which was a cool toned pink-y watermelon with glitter. If you are looking for a shiny, slick gloss, this is already not for you. I was saving this color for summer but who knew it would be so awful; glad I didn't hold on to it to find out later. Anyway, the pigmentation was poor. I had to apply several coats and still couldn't get the color to really come through for me. I didn't care for the applicator; the brush itself wasn't thick enough and the "stick" was flimsy and bent back and forth too easily. I also thought the bristles, while not dense enough, were also a bit too long which created a strange "painting" motion that I had to do to get the product on my lips. This is a definitely pass. As a side note, one of my favorite beauty bloggers recommended this! This reminded me that what works for one doesn't work for all. :)

I purchased this on a whim because I loved the color Celestial. It is the prettiest pink-y, taupey nude. I have just never seen anything quite like it! From what I understand, Honeybee Gardens is a "green" or organic makeup company. I can't speak to that too much as I just really wanted the color! :) However, I was just so disappointed with the texture and feel of this lipstick. It was so dry and matte; it accentuated lines on my lips that I didn't even know were there. The formula was so dry that it was just uncomfortable to wear. I am not a big fan of matte lipsticks to begin with, but I don't think this is supposed to be a matte formula per se. In addition, it had an off flavor and a waxy smell. Unfortunately, it just went right in the garbage! I did give it a 3 as it could be topped with lipgloss if needed, but for me, I am just going to pass all together.

This is definitely a cuticle butter vs a cream or an oil; in fact, it really has the texture of butter that has melted and re-hardened, but with the delicious smell of yummy lemons! It is a bit greasy upon application, so when I use it, I like to put socks on my hands afterwards, or I will use on my toes instead and lotion on my hands. For me, it has lasted just about forever - I think for 3 years. I probably really should throw it out but it just smells so good! My cuticles get so dry in the winter; this product really keeps them moisturized.

I think my eyes bugged out just after swatching this product! It is just so incredibly pigmented and creamy, creamy, creamy. I received this in "Milk," a TRUE white, white. To be honest, I was disappointed with receiving this color in my Target beauty box; to make my eyes pop, I prefer nude colors on the waterline vs white. However, I was just so impressed with the pencil. NYX makes really good quality products for a seriously easy price point! In fact, I am not sure I have met a NYX product yet that I haven't liked. On the weekend, I did try this on my waterline to see how it wears and I was equally pleased with the longevity of the product. Sometimes if a product is just so creamy, it might not wear as well, but that was not the case with this product! I am excited to try other colors! Only caveat, and maybe I am just a moron with packaging LOL, but can someone tell me how to pop more product up? By the tip is a plastic ring, so it doesn't appear to be a product that can be sharpened. The bottom doesn't twist up either. Oh, well - I will figure it out! :)

UPDATE 12/6/14: After trying so many highlighters and baked shadows, I had to change my rating from a 7 to a 6. I recently tried this product again in Enchanted and Bronzed Beauty, and rather than being creamy and pigmented, they really are dry and the pigmentation lacks in comparison to other products, even in the same price range. I personally won't be repurchasing for that reason, but if you are in a budget and you need some shimmer, it's o-k-a-y. Bronze Beauty would be nice for someone who is a little more cool toned.......... I really have a slight issue with the ELF baked products; eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters.... They all tend to be a little chalky. I ordered this in Moonlight Pearls. When it arrived, it wasn't quite as "gold" as I expected, but more of a pale champagne. I saw a You Tube video where a reviewer was using this and I had tried other baked products, and since this color was so pretty, I thought I would give it a shot! I don't dislike it by any means; I just think there are some better options out there. Some of their baked products look more like "frost" than any color being added to them. I tend to prefer the ELF shimmer whip as a highlighter, or just use a concealer. I also have used the ELF Baked Eyeshadow in Enchanted, which is more of a true gold than Moonlight Pearls. If you are very fair, you could try Moonlight Pearls, but for those of us that are medium skin, you may want to opt for Blush Gems. This product is certainly worth the price, and will work in a pinch.

ELF has a lipgloss called Hypershine that I adore; it is also $1 and has a similar package. With the Luscious Lipstick, the applicator is a sponge tip versus the brush on the Hypershine. I actually did not prefer this applicator tip; when I touched it when it was dry/new, it felt a little stiff but after the product pokes through the holes and gets used several times, the sponge tip becomes more stiff and almost a bit harsh. I haven't experienced this as much with a brush or doe foot applicator. However, for a buck, still not bad! I bought two of these; one in Baby Lips (pale pink-y nude) and Ruby Slippers, a muted mauvey-red with shimmer. I had assumed that Ruby Slippers would be a rich, pigmented red, but it is hard to tell when ordering online so that could be my mistake. The Hypershine is a true gloss and is more shiny than the LL and a bit thinner in consistency, but NOT in a bad way. The texture of the LL feels a bit thicker to me and maybe richer - the closest thing I can try to compare it to is the Hypershine is more like a BB Cream or a light foundation whereas LL is more like a light/medium coverage lip product. At first, I really wasn't sure how I felt about this product; it IS very much a gloss as others have stated, but after using the entire tube of Baby Lips, it has really grown on me and is a nicer gloss for $1 than many others 5X+ the price. One of the best things about ELF is that I can try all of these products and colors, and if it doesn't work out, no biggie; it only set me back a buck!

UPDATE 11/27/14: I have tried a few glosses that did contain glitter and I found them almost a bit gritty. Unless you are a real fan of glitter, I would recommend the shiny, non-glittery/non-shimmery glosses in this line.................. This is one of my favorite drugstore lip glosses. There are tons of really pretty colors to choose from (My Eternity is one of my favorites!), they aren't overly glitter, there really is no taste of smell (that I could detect) and the price is within my budget at about $3-$4 a piece. The only caveat (and it is a BIG one, hence the "7" instead of a "10") it does NOT last. I have to constantly reapply. I am the kind of person that needs SOMETHING (anything!) on my lips or they feel dry. With this gloss, RL is claiming they last for 6 hours - not at all. I would say 2 hours if you are lucky and not doing too much drinking and or eating. The texture of the gloss is really not one that would even warrant any "staying" power - it is smooth, shiny and glossy. It feels nice on my mouth, and I will continue to buy; just don't expect it to last!

UPDATE 11/27/14: I purchased another tube in Au Naturale and also one in Daring, a red tone with gold glitter. I didn't notice a scent like another reviewer mentioned, but I did notice a stickier texture than I recall last year. I have been wearing Daring as a red top to a red lipstick, and find myself reapplying more. I was also not thrilled with the pigmentation of Daring - I found it a lot less DARING than I hoped! Perhaps the formula has changed?? I prefer a slick textured gloss with lots of shine; Daring in particular felt sticky. I am still willing to give it another try but am on the fence a bit more today than last year. As a result, I am changing my "10" to an "8"......... I bought this gloss in Au Naturale which is a gold nude. The packaging is sleek and modern, and the texture is smooth and not sticky or goopy. It lasts as long as any other great lipgloss would; maybe 3 to 4 hours. I am sure it would last even longer with a lipstick and liner. It is such a great deal and I would absolutely buy again. And at this price, I can afford to try them all. :) The only thing I noticed was that the sponge applicator felt a little rough and I had to pump it a few times to get enough product on it. However, Nars lipgloss is the same way and at 10x the price. It definitely is not enough to deter me from purchasing.

I like the concept of True Match; it makes it so easy to pick and choose colors that just match perfectly! I am either a W/N3. I purchased this in Barely Blushing (W3-4) and Innocent Flush (N3-4). I swatched it and was immediately impressed by the creaminess of the product! It also seemed very pigmented and easy to blend. However, when I applied it to my cheeks, I was a little stunned at the LACK of pigmentation this product has. I kept applying and applying, and applying. Eventually, I did get the color to look as I wanted, but then came the second challenge - fading. This was more of an issue with Innocent Flush. I have purchased many blushes from drugstores that are half the price of the L'oreal Paris or even less, and have had better outcomes with both pigmentation and fading. In fact, this is the first time I have ever really experienced fading before. I just love the colors and for that reason alone, I will probably keep these. Innocent Flush (pinky peach) is my favorite blush color of the moment, and although, I hate that it doesn't last all that long, I am willing to touch up for now - at least, until I find a similar color elsewhere! (Note: This product is not discontinued.)
