  • Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick

I've been using Clinique's Chubby Stick for a long time, but honestly $16 for one, not-that-big roll-up stick is overpriced in my opinion, so I picked this up. It is only $7.99, but it beats anything like this that I have ever used/tried in the past! I have this in Soft Raspberry, and I am definitely considering buying them all. I'm that crazy about them. Not only is the pigmentation rich, yet sheer, so it's wearable for school or work in the day (or layer it for a darker, more night-worthy look), but they smell subtly amazing. It's a very light, sweet scent that's not like candy, but more sophisticated and delicate. Also, the moisture this thing provides is unrivaled. It makes my desert-dwelling, chapped lips smooth, relatively shiny (not Nicki Minaj shiny, I can't pull that off), and incredibly comfortable. I have never had a product that provided such great moisture. There's just no way to describe this moisture in a way that does this justice. Another major plus of this product is how long it lasts: a solid 8 hours. Which is amazing. When I still used to used lip balm, which was before I bought this, I would have to reapply every 20 minutes to 2 hours (varying from brand to brand). This makes this product a total win for the mind-blowing performance, price, and lasting power. I know there's not as many shades of this product than that of many other brands such as Clinique or Revlon, but all of the colors are flattering on basically anyone and they're all suitable for both day and night, summer, winter, spring, fall, and anything in between. The packaging is very clean and pretty, very similar to Clinique's. The color of the lip product is the color of the tube, so it's easy to see what color you're picking up (unlike Covergirl, where you have to see the ends). Overall, I will definitely be buying this again. And again. And again. And again. And again...

  • Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum

Ralph Lauren Romance Eau de Parfum

    Rose and Floral Scent

This is the first Ralph Lauren fragrance I've ever tried, so I don't really have anything of Ralph Lauren's to compare it to, but compare to other perfumes, this is not thing particularly special. It's a very strong floral scent, with a very prominent rose tone, and it dries down to this patchouli/musky scent. While the initial smell (aka top notes) are very nice, the dry down and middle notes smell like just about every other perfume out there. It's... Generic. Because of this generic-ness, I think that it's overpriced. It's very feminine, but smells more mature (makes me think mid-40s) and it's very sweet. On me, this lasts about six hours until I can no longer smell it. The bottle is cute, however, I'll give it that. It's elegant on my dresser. I'll finish using this perfume, but after that, I won't be repurchasing.

St. Ives Naturally Indulgent Advanced Body Moisturizer

Unbelievable... And Not Just the Smell

St. Ives has been my go-to body lotion brand for forever, and it's not just because their body lotions all smell amazing (heaven+the beach+happiness+joy in a bottle), but also because they work so well for me. This Naturally Indulgent body lotion is no exception. It's extremely light-weight, but is very moisturizing, and the moisture lasts for the whole day. It's also non-greasy, so I also use it on my hands for a treat. Another big plus is that it's very natural, so I can feel safe about what I'm putting on my body. To read the ingredients, one doesn't have to break out the chemistry books. This body lotion leaves my skin smooth, silky, and supple, plus the scent is so delightful, it's like this floral scent, but it's not cloying or overwhelming. This lotion is great for both winter and summer, and generally anytime and anywhere. For the price (around $4.00 or less), St. Ives' body lotion is a great value. I would repurchase in a flash. In fact, I think I'll probably start hoarding it, and I'll panic if it ever is discontinued.

  • Eucerin Intensive Repair Extra-Enriched Hand Creme

I picked this up from the drugstore on a whim for about $4.79. I have been looking for a good hand cream after both L'Occitane and Jenna Hipp's 20% shea butter hand creams have failed me in my cold, dry, windy high-desert environment. However, where others have failed (and costed over $20), this hand cream really blew me away. Not only is it under $5 for about two and a half ounces, the product is amazing. A little pea-sized amount covers both my hands, and the cream spreads evenly, moisturizes well, and then sinks in to a completely non-greasy comfort. Before I figured that I should use hand cream, I avoided hand cream like death because of the greasiness that would prevent me from doing anything productive while I sat there for half and hour waiting for it to sink in, but this product made me a loyal devotee to hand cream. The texture and consistency is rich and silky soft, and my skin is so soft, hydrated, and comfortable. Another big plus: the silkiness and moisture lasts all day, even though I text, type, play piano, and lug stuff around all day. The tube is easy to carry around and it doesn't make a mess like some hand creams. This stuff is a godsend, it's affordable, effective, non-greasy, and easy to find. Total 10.

  • Tocca Crema da Mano Luxe

    Tocca Crema da Mano Luxe

    Straight From Heaven

This is honestly heavenly. It is everything I could ever want from a hand cream. Not only is the scent fantastic, the formula rivals anything I've ever tried. I have this hand cream in the scent Stella, which smells like a citrusy honeysuckle, and develops into a subtle, sweet and fresh lingering scent. There's really no way to describe the scent in a way that does it justice, one really just has to use it and see. The formula is better than anything else. While I thought that the price ($8.00) for such a small tube was outrageous, the tiny tube will last forever because one little dab will last me the entire day. The formula is super rich and moisturizing, but it spreads easily to cover both of my hands. Then, instead of sitting on the skin and making my hands greasy, the cream sinks in and leaves my hands silky soft and comfortably moisturized. Overall, I would hoard truckloads worth of this stuff and tell the entire world about this because it's just that amazing.

  • Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara
    8.0

    Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara

Rich Color, Nice Brush, Good Volume

This isn't the best mascara I've used, but it's pretty darned close. I've always loved Clinique's skincare products, but after having positive experiences with that, I thought maybe their makeup would be just as good. This mascara did not disappoint. I got a mini tube as part of a gift included with my Clinique moisturizer order, and the day after the package arrived, I tried it. First off, the packaging is really simple, but sturdy. As with all Clinique products, it has this very clean, sophisticated look. When I opened the tube, the first thing I noticed is the brush. It is conically shaped, which I've never experienced before and it looked a bit intimidating, but it actually made application a lot easier. It didn't clump, separated lashes nicely, and its size made it easier to get the lashes that usually are difficult to reach, and if you did reach them, it would make a mess. The formula itself was pretty impressive. This isn't one of those mascaras where it only starts to show on the third coat. Instantly, I could see the rich, black color on my lashes, and with the first coat my lashes looked at least two times thicker. The formula didn't clump much (but, as with any mascara, there should be time between coats). The formula was creamy and silky, and it dried quickly, but I still had time to brush out the few clumps I had. Overall, this is another really great product from Clinique. The normal tube is $16.00, which is pretty good considering this mascara performed better than Benefit's $23 They're Real! mascara. I'll have to keep using this to really decide if I'd buy it, but so far I'm impressed.

Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo

    Below My Expectations

In general, I love all Clinique products. They just work so well, the quality is amazing, and the price is reasonable. However, this eyeshadow was a let down compared to the rest of their products. The eyeshadow was basically a brick, so it was really hard to get the product out of the pan and onto my brush. After (finally) getting the product onto my brush, the pigmentation was lacking. I really had to put a lot on for it to even show up. I'm really glad I received this eyeshadow as part of a free gift with my Clinique moisturizer order, because it'd be a pretty disappointing waste of money.

    Nivea Lip Butter Kiss Tin

    Great Value, Long Lasting

I had heard about these from friends for about four months before I finally picked two up when they went on sale (2 for $5), the Vanilla and Macadamia Nut tin and the Raspberry tin. I always thought my friends were exaggerating when they said, "These fell from heaven!". But that's not even an exaggeration. These cute little lip butters not only look cute, are easy to carry around, and are sturdily made, but they smell great, too. I especially like the raspberry one. These moisturize really well (no more chapped winter lips!), all I have to do is dab a little on in the morning, and my lips are hydrated, smooth, and comfortable all day.

  • EOS Shave Cream
    7.0

    EOS Shave Cream

    Smells Beautiful, But Doesn't Last

I am a huge EOS fan (we're talking about six lip spheres, this shaving cream, and constantly checking their website and drugstores for new products) but even I don't think this shaving "gel" is anything spectacular. As usual, the packaging is unique, modern, and cute, and the scent is amazing. I have the vanilla bean one, and the smell is so lovely that I wish I had a perfume, body wash, body mist, and hand sanitizer of this scent because the scent only lasts about five minutes after I get out of the shower. But besides that, there's nothing especially spectacular. The most lacking aspect of this product is the lasting power. The consistency and texture of this gel is nice, but it doesn't last. I feels very creamy in my hand and it feels really silky going on, but after that it basically disappears. It did give my legs some moisture and some silkiness after shaving, but it didn't last long (about five minutes). It helped the razor glide over, but it disappears quickly, so you have to shave really quickly! Same for dry shaving with this cream: rub it in really quickly and shave really quickly or it will disappear. (When I shaved dry with it, the moisture, scent, and silkiness did seem to last a bit longer, by the way.) For this disappearing act, this EOS product is overpriced. Overall, amazing scent and packaging, but the cream pulls disappearing acts no matter whatever you do to try to make it stay.

  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30

I have using Aveeno's body lotion for over 10 years and I was pleased with Aveeno's Moisture Infusion night cream, so I decided to give this a try. It's not terrible like some people say, but it's no miracle worker. My favorite thing about this daily moisturizer is definitely the SPF content. I usually only see SPF 15, and I live in a hot and exposed desert, so SPF 30 is my standard of a bare minimum when it comes to sun protection, so this meets that standard. Also, this moisturizer contains light reflecting particles and that gives my face a nice, dewy glow. I also like the packaging of this moisturizer because one pump dispenses enough to cover my entire face, it's easy to travel with, and it doesn't make a mess because it's sturdy and well-designed. But there are also things I don't like about this moisturizer, like the formula's texture/consistency. It's pretty thick, so it feels really greasy when I first put in one, even though that feeling wears off. And even though it feels rather greasy, it's not very moisturizing. After I put it on, dry patches still show through, where my skin peels and is flaky. This moisturizing has a very strong sunscreen smell, which I don't find particularly pleasing, and I've used SPF 50 sunscreens that don't smell a thing like sunscreen. This product doesn't really deliver on any of the promises of more even skin tone or texture either. Another thing I dislike about this moisturizer is the size for the price. For such a small bottle and for the performance, $13 seems like a bit much. I've used $8 moisturizer that did much better. Overall, not bad especially when it comes to SPF, but it lacks the moisture to repair skin, and it doesn't deliver on its promises. After I finish this, I'm definitely trying something else.
