  • Maybelline New York Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Powder Foundation

Just bought this yesterday and the color was perfect for my weird-toned skin. Not too orange or pink. The texture is soft and silky and it glides on purrr-fectly. I applied it after my daily moisturizer soaked in and it felt lovely. DO NOT use the cheap-y brush that comes with it. I used a good quality Sephora-brand mineral make-up brush - a fluffly one - to apply and it went on easily and cleanly. My only complaint is that it doesn't last very long. But I'm also a face-toucher, so who knows? This feels good, looks good and doesn't smell at all. And minerals never make me break out. It's also WAY CHEAPER than Bare Minerals. My new everyday go-to instant-good-looking-skin solution!

  • Revlon ColorStay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin

I love this. I recently just bought it because I was inspired to try using foundation after watching some Youtube vids and seeing some lovely results. One of the girls kept raving about this foundation, so I gave it a shot. I LOVE that the colors are spot on - finally, foundation in shades that aren't all overly pink or orange. I have olive skin with both yellow and red undertones that's incredibly hard to match, but I found my perfect shade with one try. I applied with my fingertips and blended it well with a damp makeup sponge and it disappeared, leaving a medium, semi-matte coverage. My freckles still showed through slightly, but my skin tone was nice and even. I don't usually wear foundation, but I do really love the idea of flawless, natural-looking skin. And this stuff is not heavy, cakey or overly "make-up-y". Oh - and it battled my super-oily nose and lost about four hours after application. But it stayed wonderfully smooth and perfect on the rest of my face for the majority of the day. **UPDATE** After using this for a few days consecutively, I got pimples! I was so disappointed, but what can you do? I already have occasional acne so I'm assuming putting this stuff on my face didn't help. I usually wear mineral powder make-up. I do love the smooth look this gives and it's staying power, but I may just have to keep it for evenings out instead of everyday.

  • Clairol Nice 'n Easy Non-Permanent

    Clairol Nice 'n Easy Non-Permanent

Just Used This Last Night - LOVE IT!

Okay, second time coloring my hair. I have long, healthy, shiny black hair that is fairly smooth in texture but very thin. I've used a semi-permanent color only once before but I wanted to try a new brand because the other stuff was super-smelly. The previous color (black) had completely washed out and my hair was back to a virgin state - black with several grays poking through. Clairol Non-Permanent Nice N Easy Color is super-easy to use and I have stubborn grays, so I simply left it on for an additional 15 minutes. No burning happened, nothing. My hair came out soft, shiny and natural-looking with minimal residual odor. My roommate said he didn't even notice I'd colored my hair. BINGO! I noticed I did miss a few grays on the lower back of my head behind my ear, but I attribute that to a mistake on my part. My obvious grays on my middle part are completely gone and my hair looks completely normal - not chalky or dull. It's shiny, soft and back to black and I couldn't be happier. This stuff is awesome!

  • Wet n Wild Megalength Mascara

I bought this on a whim, since I never usually use Wet 'n Wild. I go back and forth between lengthening mascara and thickening mascara, depending on my mood. I couldn't find my usual Maybelline one, so I picked this up. Great price so if I didn't like it, it wouldn't bother me too much. But it's pretty good. A thinner formula (as most defining mascaras with the plastic bristles tend to be), but my thin, sparse lashes looked thicker and longer, due to the dark color and the even, smooth coating each lash got. Don't use too much or apply too fast or it will just turn into a wet, clumpy mess on your lashes - the formua is very thin. Two or three long, slow swipes starting from your lash line and up will do it. I loved the separation and the length. I didn't have to comb out my lashes at all. I'm not sure about smudging as I don't usually get much with any mascara I use, but I'm also a priming fool and prime my lids and lashline with powder before applying any eye makeup. But I like this mascara. A cheap alternative to my favorite and works in a pinch.

  • Sally Hansen Extra Strength Creme Hair Remover For Face

I hated it. It didn't fully remove the hair on my upper lip. It smelled horrible and burned after a while (and I have normal skin that's not sensitive). My then-boyfriend kissed me and asked if I'd shaved my upper lip -because the product didn't fully remove my hair! *groan* Too embarrassed to use this again!

  • Mary Kay TimeWise Targeted-Action Line Reducer

I have been using this for about a month or so now. I use it only at night, as it seems a bit thick in consistency and I don't like the feel of a thicker cream on my skin in this summer heat and humidity. I love the idea of the cooling applicator, but it doesn't really blend the product in very well. I apply it and then use my ring finger to pat the product into my skin. I use it around my eyes and between my brows and the small crepe-y lines are drastically diminished and less pronounced. My 40-year-old skin is smooth, hydrated and appears more youthful and firm. I love this stuff. It's not scented and doesn't irritate my rosacea in any way. Highly satisfied with this product! Recommend.

  • Neutrogena Body Oil

    Neutrogena Body Oil

    Wow....really nice.

I've used this on and off for years and it's absolutely lovely. You have to be sure to use it right after shower or bath and smooth it into your skin while it's still wet/damp. The oil melts into your wet skin as it dries and leaves you absolutely silky, soft and touchable. Especially if you exfoliate in the shower/bath! I usually smooth this on, dry my hair while the oil soaks in and then I'm ready to get dressed, no oiliness anywhere. Beautiful, soft almond-like fragrance. Lovely as a massage oil, too!

St. Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Wash

    Excellent, Quality Product

I've used this forever and it always leaves my dry, sometimes itchy skin smooth and a bit moisturized. Smells warm and clean and inviting. Great lather with a pouf or sponge and a little goes a long way. Fantastic price, too. Quality body wash that I end up going back to again and again.

  • Biosilk Silk Therapy Original

A date told me about this stuff ~ yup, a guy! ~ and I used it while at his house. This product is simply gorgeous in every way. It smells AMAZING (clean, fresh, appealing) and used in your hair, it makes it soft, silky and smooth. My hair is fairly straight and naturally black in color, but it can get dull or frizz-out in humid weather and this stuff tames it and shines it up beautifully. The only downside is that it doesn't last very long. I love the smell and rub it in on the back of my neck and around my ears, as weird as that sounds. Embarrassingly, I love this stuff so much, I just bought up 4 large bottles at TJ Maxx, which were HALF-OFF. A normal bottle is $40, which is just way too pricey for my budget. But at half the cost, I won't complain. Warning: I accidentally poured a big puddle in my hands and tried to wash it off and it seemed to actually be waterproof......don't know what that's all about, so be sure to use it judiciously. Not too much and you'll have beautiful, great-smelling hair!

  • L'Oreal Paris Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color

L'Oreal Paris Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color

    Ugh....smells like kitty urine!

I just used this tonight and realized what the smell reminded me of. *shudder* Blech! But the smell will go away, so I'm not so concerned about that. I've never dyed my hair, at home or professionally - ever! - but the grays were creeping in and I was fed up with plucking them, so I nervously broke down and bought this stuff. I watched a youtube video on how to dye at home and went to work. I have very long, naturally black hair, that seems to have some warm-ish tones in it. I bought a color called "Double Espresso" Rich Black, Level 1. I wasn't too nervous about color mistakes, since my hair is already black. So far, it's dried to a deep blue-black shade. I kept it in for a total of 10-15 minutes as per the instructions, after applying to my whole head. When rinsing, I saw a BIG chunk of hair in the sink and panicked - not sure if the dye was the cause of it, but I began to rinse it out like a maniac, just to get it out of my hair. I used the conditioner and rinsed for fifteen minutes. The end result SO FAR: My hair is soft, somewhat glossy and my grays are totally covered. *shrug* For my first try at this, I'm okay with it. As for the loss of the hair in the sink, I don't really notice any bald spots, burning or reactions anywhere. I'm more calm now about the experience. Still....it was scary to witness all the hair in the sink and honestly not know if this dye was the cause. My hair is (was?!) in healthy condition. I give this a 6 rating because it did what it claimed, but I feel they could work on a few things to improve the product. That may seem like an understatement to some after reading about my experience, but I'm just not that hair-centric. So yeah, it worked but the product could definitely be improved.
