Hello Kitty Charmmy Kohl Eyeliner Kit

    Very cute but lacks quality

As you can see, I'm a fan of HK, since I was a girl. I bought this on impulse, being it looked so cute & comes in a convenient case. But they don't last too long. A couple of the colors are too bright or flourescent for my taste, so I put a bit of shadow over them. These pencils only last a few hours; and the pigment definitely won't hold up on hot, humid days. They are okay for just a brief time out, but not all day. Some drugstore brands like Cover Girl or Maybelline have more staying power!

  • Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse
    9.0

Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse

All it needs is a high SPF added

I decided to try this after reading good reviews on here, on Allure, and from Paula Begoun the Cosmetics Cop. I like this way better than their "Dream Matte Mousse" in the little compact, which was a nightmare to me (wrote separate review sometime back). This gives me medium coverage, enough that I don't need concealer. Yet, it still lets my skin show through. It makes me look like I have good skin WITHOUT making it obvious I'm making make-up, which is what I want a foundation to do. Since it has no SPF, I wear a moisturzing sunscreen underneath; I have dry skin to boot. I read that it looks darker on the skin than in the bottle for some people, but fortunately I got the right shade the first time: Sandy Beige #1 Medium. A little goes a long way like Psy1ocke says. I use fingertips to blend, not a sponge since it is a bit thick for that. So far it holds up on hot, humid days.

  • Olay Quench Plus Age Defying Body Lotion

This seems to be on its way to being discontinued, just after I discovered it. It was on "close out" at the grocery store, and I couldn't find it at Rite Aid or Target at all anymore. It's thick, rich, and luxurious like a department store lotion, but at half the price! I got it cause it was highly recommended by Paula Begoun, Cosmetics Cop. I only hope they are just changing the name, packaging, or something like that....and not doing away with it altogether.

Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Eye Treatment

A bit hard to blend, use LITTLE

I got this cause it's supposed to be good under make-up and was recommended by Paula Begoun. I don't have trouble with dark circles, but I do have fine lines that "illumination" is supposed to distract from. It also makes you look more awake & younger, LOL. USE VERY LITTLE, even the surface of your little finger is too much. And DON'T try to pat it on or you'll end up with a chalky, silvery, clumpy mess around your eyes and on your fingers. It will "pill up". You really need to literally rub it in, then let it set for at least 5 minutes before applying anything else. It does have a bit of sparkle to it, but it's not really garish. Since it has no SPF, I do put at least sunblock over it. It's expensive and comes in a tiny .5 oz bottle.

  • Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Night Moisturizer

I didn't like the texture of this cream. Too slippery or slick. And itt sort of "sat" on top on my skin rather than absorbing well. Good thing it's for night, cause it has a sparkly, shimmering coating that would be too garish for daytime for ME. Nothing was "restored", and I later found out there's nothing in it to minimize/fade brown spots, just to cover them up with shimmer. Also, I broke out in tiny, red pimples after a few days. Fortunately, they didn't last long. I think this cream might be discontinued soon, as it was on "closeout" at Rite-Aid, and not found at all at other stores I shop at. Also noticed they packaging it's in is not what it was when I got it, but THAT packaging is now used for something else. So I don't know if the Olay Intense Hydrating Cream is THIS same stuff, with the new name and packaging. I don't know what's going on!

  • CoverGirl TRUblend Whipped Foundation
    6.0

    CoverGirl TRUblend Whipped Foundation

Not too bad, but REALLY prep dry skin

If you have dry skin, be sure to exfoliate well first and use an SPF moisturizer also, since this formula does emphasize the tiniest bit of dry skin or flakes. Otherwise, this is a light, creamy texture with decent coverage. It layers well, after you let it set for a few minutes. I've found that if I put on a second layer over problem areas, I don't need concealer. I've found it best to pat in on for the second layer, rather than rubbing. It does have an odd (but not unpleasant) smell to it though that I wouldn't miss. It does not seem long wearing, as I noticed when I use my makeup remover towelettes before bed that there is little left to remove! This might be good for hot, sweaty days since it is so light. Although this is not a bad product, I wouldn't buy it again. I prefer something that I can blend quickly & easily with fingertips, without all the time-consuming prep first. If they made formulas for different skin types I might get it again. It is really a tinted moisturizer more than a foundation.

  • CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation

Thank goodness Rite Aid will let you return even used makeup for a refund. I'm giving it a 2 because it does a good job of NOT settling into my lines. But I also need coverage, an easy package to handle... 1. First, the shade goes on at least two shades lighter than it appears in the compact. It must be because of that white stuff (the serum?), but I thought it would be transparent since the Olay serum I use is transparent, not white! So it's either that or the talc. So be sure to get at least a shade DARKER than what appears to match your skin. 2. Speaking of which, it is odd to have talc as one of the main ingredients in a foundation for older skin, which GENERALLY is dryer than younger skin. I mean, with the name "ageless", it must be targeted to older women, not a 22 year old. So if you have dry skin, exfoliate well and use a rich moisturizer. But even though I tried this, it still really emphasizes the tiniest bit of dry skin, making me look older. The talc seemed to absorb any moisture I managed to get. 3. Flimsy sponge will not completely wash out the makeup. I had a stain in it the first time I used it. It does not blend easily with a dry sponge. I've found using a damp sponge made it a little easier to blend, but I used a disposable one each time. It was a pain to wash that sponge they gave you everytime. 4. Packaging was hard to open, and there's no mirror. I almost broke it because I thought it should snap open & UP, like all compacts I've seen. But it has a screw on lid. 5. For a foundation so thick in texture, I expected much better COVERAGE. However, my liquid foundations and even tinted moisturizers cover better than this! I don't just need something that doesn't settle in lines, I need coverage. It also made my pores look bigger, like craters on the moon surface, and I have small pores! 6. Much more expensive than most drugstore foundations, and not worth that money. Thank goodness I got it back. I only got this stuff cause the Cover Girl foundation I wanted (TruBlend Whipped Foundation) was apparently discontinued. But fortunately, I found it at Ralphs...so that was luck there. At Rite Aid, it was already all gone since it said "75% off-clearance/close out), so I was too late I thought. And I LIKE the whipped formula so much better. I really wanted the Simply Ageless to work for me. Must be the professional photographers, lighting, and make up artists in those Ellen DeGeneres commercials that made me decide to try this. Sorry if this is hard to read if the formatting and spacing did not come out right, and sorry if there's duplicates, but my review disappeared after just being there a minute ago!!!

  • Vaseline Deep Moisture Creamy Formula

I don't like too much. I still find it greasy, although not as bad as Vaseline. It works okay if used sparingly on my dry patches on my face, but not on my feet, arms, etc. It seems to not moisturize deeply at all. I tried it on my feet, and my feet are still dry and scaly.

  • CoverGirl Outlast Smoothwear All-Day Lipcolor

    CoverGirl Outlast Smoothwear All-Day Lipcolor

Incredible staying power but a little dry.

I was skeptical that a lip color could last all day, but this one REALLY does! It is drying (like all long lasting lip colors seem to be...), but the gloss will replenish the moisture. This lasts me through at least 2 meals and conversations throughout the day. It is the hardest thing to remove though! Even more so than waterproof mascara! Baby oil works..let it sit for a few seconds and swipe. You do have to touch up with the gloss, but I've found that lip balm like Chapstick will work too, if you don't want the glossy look but need moisture. Don't wear unless you really need ALL DAY wear. Also, be careful you don't eat anything oil-based or greasy, as then the color will come right off!

  • Revlon ColorStay Under Eye Concealer

    Revlon ColorStay Under Eye Concealer

Revlon is usually better than this

I only got this because a better concealer I've been using (Maybelline's Age Rewind Double Face Perfector) didn't have enough concealer, but I wanted to use up the highlighter part of it before opening a new tube , so I needed another concealer in the meantime. It also got a good review from Paula Begoun, the "Cosmetics Cop". I agree with other members that it doesn't cover what it is supposed to conceal, and there's little product in it as well. I like the applicator and texture (though a bit thick), but it takes several turns to get it to dispense. Then, it's often too much. It covers up my brown spots pretty well, but it settled into my lines right away...something it is not supposed to do! I thought since it's for the under eye area that it would definitely not settle into my lines. But it did, just drawing attention to them. I've tried it both over and under foundation, and neither option looks right. I will not get this again. Revlon is usually good, but I was really disappointed with this one.
