    Revlon CustomEyes Shadow & Liner

    Disappointed in the Pigmentation

Hardly an eye shadow compact or palette is on the shelves or Internet which I don't try. Revlon's "Custom Eyes Shadow and Liner" looked so promising--the shades were lovely, beautifully matched, and I loved the textures etched into them (they resemble crocheted patterns, etc.). I was greatly disappointed in the pigmentation, however. The liner is deep; the other hues needed repeat application for an acceptable amount of color (and I never go overboard with shadows, even at night). This could have been a great product, but I was disappointed.

    Beautiful Colors, Great Texture

I was wary of these at first, but once I tried "Passion Fruit," I realized that it is sheer and shiny and moisturizing. I've collected more colors since and love the texture; I tend to get a lot of compliments while wearing these.

  • Estée Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme SPF 15

Estèe Lauder’s “DayWear” is a great, basic moisturizer for continual use. It is formulated with a powerful anti-oxidant complex containing vitamins C and E to fight the damage caused by free radicals. I love the fact that it includes a sunscreen (SPF 15). The fragrance is like that of a fresh, crisp cucumber and is a pick-me-up when using it. Although it is creamy, it is not oily at all. Once it settles into my skin, I can apply any type of primer and/or foundation over it. It definitely does keep my skin hydrated all day, providing a clarity to my complexion. I know the technology of the formula is working hard to keep me line-free and youthful.

  • Estée Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick

Estée Lauder was probably the first "grown-up" lipstick I used. I still enjoy it. I have it in more shades than I can count, but my favorites are "Pinkberry," "Sugar Honey," and "Bois de Rose." The hues are extraordinary and rich. Apricot Kernel, shea butter, and murumuru butter leave lips soft and pliable. Coverage is buildable and the wear is better than I had first anticipated (I am so used to stains). As Estée Lauder's Creative Makeup Director, Tom Pecheux says, "Lipstick makes a woman sensual, powerful, and kissable." I agree!

  • Sephora + Pantone Universe Alchemy of Color Eye Shadow Palette

And yet another shadow palette has crossed my hands. Palettes have always been my downfall when it comes to cosmetics, and I don't see an end to that any time soon. I am fascinated with Sephora's "Sephora + Pantone Universe™" collaboration. The colors are so vivid, so appealing, that they are hard to resist. Their "Alchemy of Colors Eye Shadow Palette" was on sale for only $17.00, and I did not refrain but added it to my own collection. I was happily surprised and LOVE it. The ten vibrant, gilded and matte shades are inspired by precious gemstones. These shadows are baked in pure mineral water, a process which is unique in trapping color for a flexible, blendable texture, intense pigmentation, and high metallic shine. The hues are a true, luxurious gold, a shimmering peach, a very wearable mauve/violet (not too pink at all so that you look like you've contracted an eye infection), sumptuous, rich periwinkle, an intense violet, a lovely and unusual mix of lavender and cobalt, the most deep brown possible (infused with charcoal), chocolate, a taupe-grey shimmer, and a pure silver. The compact itself is magnetized, with a large, helpful mirror. I wish Sephora had included some applicators for touch-ups. I also wish that there was more delineation between the colors (they blend from one to another in the compact and are not in separate wells), but it does not distract from their incredible beauty. These hues can be used for the office or for nighttime drama. For a softer look, use a good brush, applying the lighter shades all over the eye area for a wide-eye effect, contouring with darker colors. Or do just the opposite: Help recede a full eye by brushing deep shades on the lid and highlighting with the brighter ones. They can also be used wet for increased intensity (known as "foiling"). They are satiny-soft and blend seamlessly. The wear? It is extremely long. I was surprised at how well the shadows stayed during the course of long, hot, and very busy days. Right now I'm still sporting peach, gold, chocolate, and the intense brown (called "Graystone") applied about ten hours ago and looking good. Get your palette before they're gone; I promise that you'll be sorry if you miss this!

Buxom Full-On Plumping Lip Polish Gloss

    Absolutely Augments My Lips!

I love the range of shades available, but my favorite two are "Clair" (diamond/moonlit mauve) and "Starr" (diamond/raspberry ice). There is definitely a "plump" quality when I wear this. I love the shine, the lack of tackiness, and the tingling feel. Great product.

    MAC Paint Pot

    Color Me Happy with These!

MAC paint pots are one way to achieve any eye look you want. How much do I love them? My vanity, makeup cases, and cosmetic bags overflow . . . My all-time favorite shade is "Painterly," a pink-toned flesh hue which disguises discolorations, brightens the entire eye area, and serves as a very long-wearing, water-resistant primer. Sometimes I dash out of the house wearing only "Painterly" (and clothing, of course!). Like some of the other readers, I find "Groundwork" very lovely and highly useful. It is a satin-toned taupe. A swipe of "Groundwork" over "Painterly" makes for a good day look. Some of my other favorites? "Let's Skate" (a pearly, dainty pink) serves as a great base for violet-, navy-, brown-, or charcoal-hued shadows while allowing your lid to stand out. "Dangerous Cuvèe" is a frosted, fascinating cool grey which is subtle enough for daytime but sexy and edgy at the same time. "Frozen Violet," a shimmery purple-silver, is also unique and brings out the green in my eyes. "Rubenesque" is an intriguing golden peach with gold pearl, a great color against skin especially during the spring and summer months when you may be sporting a bit of a faux tan. I love the fact that you can use other powder shadows over these if you choose. I tend to use my fingers when working with these colors, but a brush allows me to line and contour easily and enables blending. The price of $18.50 per shadow is high, but you do get a good deal of product. I like the fact that it applies as a cream and I can manipulate it as I want before it dries. It stays put through heat, humidity, and long hours. Just be sure to close the pot securely so that the color doesn't dry out. When you consider that this functions as a primer and a shadow, you realize that it is definitely money well spent!

  • Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette

I was sure that I was fall deeply in love with these palettes, but the shadows are so soft that they crumble. Texture is uneven, and I found a lot of "fallout" all over my face. I can't believe I actually tossed a palette which cost this much, but it was too late to return it.

    A Perfect Pink, Feminine Glow!

I love the way this watermelon-hued powder blush gives me a feminine but natural radiance. The luminous gold sheen isn't too much for me when I use the right brush and a light touch. Very flattering!

  • Hollister Malaia Eau de Toilette

I was sitting at a computer next to a student one day and noted a subtle but alluring fragrance. Without being evident, I moved my belongings aside and moved a tad closer to her. She smelled amazing. I finally broke down and asked what fragrance she was wearing. She told me it was this, and I immediately bought it. It has the essence of sheer florals, clean, crisp water, and subtle woody tones. Lovely!
