    Milani Baked Blush

    Great for shimmer lovers!

I love shimmer and heard that Luminoso was a good dupe for Nars you know what! I cannot really say since I would never pay $30 for the original, we'll maybe, but this is a very pretty peachy pink shimmer best used in spring and summer. I also bought Red Vino; I liked the shade but it has larger gold glitter chunks in it and I will be returning. I don't mind glitter in lip gloss or eye shadow, but with blush and the blending motion it ends up transferring the glitter everywhere. However, still a great blush and nicely pigmented.

  • e.l.f. 144-piece Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral and Bright

I bought this in Neutral when it was half off and only $15! What a bargain. I have dark brown hair with a few dark gold highlights, brown eyes and medium skin. There are so many eye colors in this palette that look great on. There are matte, shimmer, frosted and glitter textures. Really, this is the only palette any of us need. The only reason I did not give it a 10 is because they were not quite pigmented enough and required more blending than a more prestige brand would require. But at this price point, who cares? :)

  • Got2b Powder'ful Volumizing Styling Powder

I debated on whether this product was a 7 or an 8, and decided to rate it a 7 since it could use a few improvements. I have used a similar product from Aveda that I was very happy with. I thought that this might be a more budget friendly version. It is super convenient and easy to use; just sprinkle a little in your hand, rub and apply to root area. What had me turned off somewhat was the texture. It was a strange waxy/sticky texture. I would definitelt go light on the application. I could also see it making roots greasy if too much is applied. It is a great way to add some volume without spending a lot of time! To another reviewer's pount, I would avoid this product on windy days or if someone will be touching your hair. In all fairness though, that is typical for most volume boosting products.

Frizz-Ease Sheer Solution Lightweight Frizz Control

Didn't think it would do a thing...

My mom has fine hair and why she gave this to her thick haired daughter, I will never know. :) The first thing I noticed was that it was yet another product to tame frizz that contains alcohol. How that can happen, I will never know! My hair is thick and wavy and I did not have much expectation for this product but it did leave me surprised. Because I do have so much hair I used twice as much product as the instructions indicated and I thought it did a surprisingly good job. I had zero frizz and even a bit of hold. Don't let the "lightweight" fool you; it packs a pretty good punch!

    Dove Nourishing Oil Care Detangler

    Slightly Disappointing

I am always a bit hesitant when using a conditioning product that has alcohol in it; after all, is that not the opposite of what I want to accomplish? I had tried a few different Pantene detanglers with just mediocre results and I am obsessed with Dove's new argan oil line, so I thought I would give it a try! The first thing I noticed was the smell; it reminded me a bit of cough syrup. My hair is long and wavy, so I focused the detangler on the ends up to just below my ear. Unfortunately, it did not remove the tangles or leave my hair feeling replenished or moisturized. It was not terrible by any means, it just did not seem to do what I thought it would. I actually could see this product better served as a styling aid after hair is already dry. It hss some alcohol which should provide a bit if hold, along with the oil that should provide shine. Make sure you shake the bottle really well when you use it.

  • Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator

I have been using Clinique since I was 15 and am very familiar with their product line. I received a sample of this product and I was impressed, even for Clinique. I believe this product is in the $40 range bit it hydrates as if it costs twice that amount! My skin is oily in the summer and combo to combo dry in the winter. I found this moisturizer to be incredibly versatile and luxurious feeling. I use a rx of retin a in the evenings, and this product soothes my skin and keeps the flakiness at bay. It also was not heavy which I initially thought it would be. $40 is about twice as much as what I typically spend, but if this is in your price range, you must try it. You will not be disappointed!

  • Essie Nail Polish

    Essie Nail Polish

Nice polish but overrated and overpriced...

I have tried Essie's top coat and was unimpressed but I had been looking for just the right shade of black cherry when I came across Wicked. It was the perfect shade I was looking for. It has nice shine and lasts no longer than others, 5 to 7 days maybe longer with extra topcoat. I wasn't impressed with the coverage though; I had to apply 3 coats. I normally spend a dollar or two on polish and honestly I couldn't find any real reason to spend $8 on this vs. $2 on another brand, except for me not wanting to spend too much time looking for this exact shade. However, if I would have went to Ulta I probably could have found it at a better price point. Essie has received a lot of marketing and promotion (especially for Ballet Slippers) and not that it isn't a good polish, but I can't help but think that all this promotion makes Essie seem even better than it is. If it is in your budget or you only wear one or two different colors, then go for it! If not, you can definitely find something at a better price point.

  • CoverGirl Fresh Complexion Under-Eye Concealer

I'll be totally honest; CG is not my favorite budget brand for cosmetics but this concealer was a pleasant shock - er, surprise. :) I was looking for a budget brand concealer in a super light shade for my medium skin to use as a highliter. I bought this in Fair as it was the lighest shade I could find in a concealer under $5. The coverage was medium/moderate and it did exactly what I needed it to do. I found it to be fairly longwearing and the applicator made it so easy for me. I am pretty hooked on a prestige concealer I am using now, but this is a perfect backup concealer or for emergencies when in a pinch.

    E.L.F. Tone Correcting Concealer

Sheer coverage with an odd smell...

I love many of the elf products but found this one to be a tad disappointing. After reading some of the revies mentioning mold, I was a bit nervous to open the package. Lucky for me, no mold but a bit of an odd citrus smell as some have mentioned. It wasn't terrible but not great either. The coverage was very sheer; if you truly have anything to really cover, I wouldn't recommend this product. For $1 or so it isn't bad but they do have other concealers that I like better. I actually think it would work well for teens and tweens that are just starting to get into makeup.

  • Head & Shoulders Green Apple Shampoo

Head & Shoulders Green Apple Shampoo

Fantastic smell but flakes still here :(

In all fairness, Nizoral has been the only product thst has worked for me. But at $15 for 7 oz it is pricey and can be difficult to find. Against my better judgement, I picked up this product and unfortunately it actually made my flakes worse. I have seborrheic dermatitis and my scalp is often out of balance and can have large dry spots on my scalp and behind my ears. Maybe this product would work for just the occasional dandruff, but for me I am going back to Nizoral.
