  • L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Eye Shadow Single

I was so pleasantly suprised with these single eyeshadows. I purchased, "Gilded Bronze", a coppery shadow perfect for all over the lid or as a shadow to set off the lid's crease and "Frosted Icing" which I use as a brow highlighter and often as a cheek highlighter. The bronze is a great summer shade that looks stunning with just bronzer and mascara for a sunkissed look. The "frosted icing" is a great mutli-wear product. The pan's these shadows come in are also user-friendly and are huge for the price! And with or without primer, I've found they are longwearing. This is one of L'Oreal's crown jewels. I'm excited to try the matte shades.

Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Makeup Silky Eyeshadow

Great Colors, Must Use with a Primer

I bought two shades of this eyeshadow during the semi-annual sale thinking I'd give them a shot. The line itself has a great color selection many of which are quite unique to the line. But initially I was dissapointed because there seemed to be no color depositing on my lid no matter how much I picked up with my brush. The colors looked so pretty in the pan but it didn't seem to translate when applied. I recently found an unbelievable primer (urban decay eyeshadow potion) and decided to give these shadows another try and with the primer, they looked fabulous. Very smooth, satin looking looking color that lasted through an 8 hour workday. As long as you have a reliable primer, these are great eyeshadows.

    E.L.F. Blush

Depends on the Color, 'Pink Passion' is A Must-Have

I originally purchased this blush in "candid coral", a dark coral mauve which looked great in the package. The color did not come off well even when using a kabuki brush and looked dull on my face. It doesn't brighten the way blush is supposed to. Then I saw this blush's other shade, "pink passion" on a beauty blog and decided to take another chance on elf's blush line. It looks like a neon pink in the product's pan but just a little swipe of it on the apple of your cheek and my skin was instantly brightened. It looks intimidating in the pan but its a classic, girly pink blush that seemed to last all day for me. And because you have to use so little of it, it lasts seemingly forever. And you can't beat elf's prices. I really suggest taking a chance on "pink passion", it's a cheap staple.

  • Fekkai Technician Color Color-Care Glaze

I'm on the fence about this product becuase it does enliven dull hair's color which is nice but it has no other use and seems to make no difference in color fading over time. It doesn't moisturize, protect or control frizz. It also was a bit oily for my liking. I would'nt buy it again but it is useful in terms of adding shine.

  • Too Faced Lockdown Ultimate Creaseless Cream Eye Shadow

I bought the deep brown shade pictured above, "Drama Rama" to use as a shade for the crease of the eyelid. It claims to have Too Faced's famed eyeshadow primer within it and I was excited for a longwearing cream shadow. The color is nothing to rave about, it is not highly pigemented which is difficult to deal with in a cream shadow becuase they are already tricky to apply and less pigmentation means more layers need to be added. The texture is my biggest complaint though as it is too watery to be considered a "cream" shadow and is very hard to apply neatly. Even using a small concealer brush, I had a hard time getting this to look neat. As for its long-wearing promise, I saw no discernable differnce in lasting power from eyeshdows applied without primer. Really not an impressive product.

  • Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick

I have this lipstick in 'mauve', a muted rasberry and in a sandy biege which I adore. The mauve is a bit too dark for me and seems to bring out the redness in my skin but I can see it being suitable for deeper skin tones. The beige is a great bargain substitute for Nars' lipstick, "Honolulu Honey" or Mac's lipstick in "Satin". They apply very well with a creamy texture. They are nicely pigmented too; he color deposits well. In terms of their staying power, after an hour a touch-up is necessary. Overall these are a solid buy and I'd purchase them again.

  • Nars Bronzing Powder

    Nars Bronzing Powder

    The Best of the Best

Nars Bronzing Powder, specifically Laguna and Casino are simply the best bronzers out there. I give other formulas a chance every now and then, just becuase this stuff is so expensive but at the end of the day nothing comes close. Laguna is gorgeous; Just the right amount of matte and shimmer and the color is simply orange-free. Aside from the unbeatable color, this bronzer lasts 24 hours even through swimming. This is actually the first bronzer I ever tried on and to this day is still my number one. Two products that have come anywhere close are Kat Von D's Everlasting Bronzer and suprisingly Wet'N' Wild's bronzer but they still pale in comparison.

  • Fresh Sugar Icon Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15

I got this in sample size and its a fine balm with a good scent but its overpriced and not as long-lasting or effective at soothing lips as rosebud salve. I've had the samples for over a year and use it only when I can't find my rosebud salve.

    Nars Makeup Primer

Not As Good as Cheaper Alternatives

Usually Nars doesn't dissapoint but this purchase was a waste of money. It claims to combat redness, but my skin was actually irritated by it and it also claims to minimize poors which I saw no difference in. It certainly makes your facial skin feel tight but any toner could do that. My make-up looked exactly the same except it had to combat the redness this primer induced. There are cheaper primers out there, this one was not impressive.

  • Maybelline New York Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof Mascara

This masacara has the perfect wand for lengthening lashes. I would probably choose something else if you are aiming for intense volume or curl but this is what I use for bottom lashes and when I want a more natural, feathery look. Paired with a curler and a layer of a more volume-infused formula (I prefer Diorshow or Benefit They're Real) you can create some awesome lashes.
