    AmLactin AP Moisturizing Cream

AmLactin Moisturizing Cream is the Barrel of Brandy Hanging the St. Bernard's Neck

Oh, my poor husband suffers from dry, ashy skin from the harsh winter weather and snow. AmLactin Moisturizing Cream was the barrel of brandy hanging around the St. Bernard's neck this winter. Prescription-strength AmLactin with 12% moisturizing cream contains 12% lactic acid. Lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid, is an extremely effective natural skin humectant. I, too, have used AmLactin on my legs and have found a significant increase in the softness of my skin.

Cle de Peau Beaute Correcteur Visage Concealer

The Holy Grail Of Concealers -- Cle de Peau Correcteur

I have slept with every concealer on the market in an attempt to cover the dark circles under my eyes without the concealer settling into my crinkles, to no avail. My obsession lead me to Cle de peau Beaute. I was so excited when the UPS truck and a Doug Heffenan clone rang my doorbell, delivering the most often talked about and coveted beauty concealer - Cle de peau Beaute. This is THE concealer recommend by Charla Krupp, author of How Not To Look Old. This product has also been hailed as the holy grail of concealers for dark circle coverage, as well as mature skin by many women. I ordered Ivory and Ocher not knowing which color would be best for my pale and pink skin. At $68 a tube, this is not your drugstore fashionista's concealer. In truth, I was running late for work and did not allow myself enough time to properly address my skin, so my first application of this concealer may not have been the best test. However, Ivory was the correct color for my skin. (I have pink undertones, so the ocher pulled orange.) My grave disappointment came when traveling to work -- at a speed I will not mention -- and I smiled in the rearveiw mirror expecting a reflection of smooth skin and saw instead the ivory concealer caked in my crinkles and wrinkles around my eyes. End of smile. I gave the concealer one more shot to see if it had anything to do with my application. Thank goodness I gave the concealer a second test drive. It was my method of application. Using a makeup brush the second time, I dipped the brush with a light hand past the tube. Then I applied the concealer. I won't be without what I now know is the Holy Grail of concealers. I don't often give a ten, but I will in this case.

Boots Mediterranean Olive Sage Almond Wonderbalm

Product Review of Boots Mediterranean Olive Sage Almond Wonderbalm

Ironically, I clicked on Total Beauty today to discover the product of the day was Boots Wonderbalm because last night, after applying Retin-A and Olay Regenerist, I applied Wonderbalm to my hands and face. I woke up this morning to a much more hydrated face. I know its not meant specifically for your face, but this product is pure wonderment. I bought Wonderbalm for my lips, but lo and behold, it's a multi-purpose beauty product.

Product Review of Sephora's Face and Eye Travel Tool Kit

A set of tools for creating the perfect face and eye palette. Traveling has never been easier, thanks to this convenient brush set. The brushes are of a highly professional quality, but I would use other at home. This fits nicely in your handbag or suitcase.

    Clinique Supermoisture Makeup

Product Review of Clinique Supermoisture Makeup

Clinique advertises this new product as, "Ultra-creamy yet refreshingly lightweight formula goes beyond flaw-fixing, acting as skin’s undercover moisture agent for a dewy look. Disguises unevenness with sheer-to-moderate coverage. Instantly puts drier skins at ease. Skin looks soft and radiant all day." As advertised, Supermoisture Makeup is creamy, lightweight, and dewy. It is a good choice for women with dry skin like mine. I have been using Bobbi Brown's Moisture Rich Foundation, but found it to have too much coverage for daywear. I will keep Bobbi's foundation in my makeup arsenal, but I am going to add Clinique's Supermoisture Makeup for day. I am sold on this product.

Product Review of Aveda Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque

I applied the masque to my face, covered my face with warm towels that I had warmed in the microwave, and my brainwaves those loveable, little endorphins. I know there are a lot of good masques on the market, but I would definitely use Aveda's Tourmaline Masque again. It doesn't have the tightening effect of other that I have used but it leaves your skin smooth and hydrated.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Island Capri Eau de Parfum

Review of Michael Kors Island Capri

Michael Kors' new fragrance Island Capri is delightful in the true sense of the word --giving great pleasure or delight; highly pleasing. The charming blue bottle and the name make me yearn for the Island of Capri. Island Capri is described as: "A sparkling, colorful floral fragrance infused with orange bigarade, succulent bergamot, velvety violet de parma, rich dark fig, and the sophistication of olive tree accord paired with warm white moss that captures the essence of the indulgent lifestyle of the island of Capri." I am not usually an aficionado of "island" scents, but Michael Kors Island Capri's spirit does capture the essence of the indulgent lifestyle of the island of Capri. My scentibilities are probably colored by my experiences one summer in Europe. I will wear this scent when I'm feeling nostalgic for the freedom of youth or nostalgic for a walk on a beach.

Clinique Blended Face Powder and Brush

Product Review: Clinique Blended Face Powder

There are a few other choices of translucent or invisible face powders on the market, but Clinique's Blended Face Powder and Brush in Invisible Blend works for both girls and mature women. My daughter, who admittedly has beautiful 20-something skin, brushed the powder on her bare skin and it gave her a flawless finish. I lightly dusted it over my foundation as a setting powder and it didn't settle in what I prefer to call my laugh lines but there may have been a trace amount in my crinkles. I have not worn powder for eons because it tends to emphasize the lines on my face rather than make them invisible, but I would wear Clinique's Invisible Blend on special occasions when I need that extra setting power. It is the first time since the company's launch in 1968 that the loose powder is available in an invisible blend. The 100 percent fragrance-free (phthaltes-free for my health-conscious girls), non-acnegenic formula makes it a perfect choice for all skin types, tones, and women who are concerned with what ingredients they put on their faces. Available at Sephora ($18.50).

Murad Rapid Age Spot & Pigment Lightening Gel

The War Between Murad Lightening Gel And My Age Spots

I have been fighting the age spot war for a while. I have had the tenacious little spots lasered off but they keep popping back up. While in Sephora before leaving on a trip, my favorite Sephora girl gave me a sample of Murad's lightening gel. She said it was so powerful that it lightened her freckles. So I thought, "Age spots beware. Murad is now in my cache of ammunitions" I have been using the lightening gel every night before I go to bed, and lo and behold, the pesky spots are slowly but surely disappearing. This is cheaper than laser and seems like a good long-term fix. Murad definitely wins this war. I have added a sunscreen with Mexoryl to make sure that the skin on my hand is shielded and doesn't add any more "freckles." I will rate this an 8, only because the jury is still out. I haven't used it long enough to see if it will fade the spots to oblivion.
