After I recently cut my legs to ribbons, I knew they deserved more pampering. The Venus Spa Breeze System arrives in an impressive, white and clear plastic compact with a very girly, opalescent pink and white rubberized, “sure grip†handle (and two shave cartridges). The tri-blade head has two large, pink shave gel bars, infused with the fresh scent of white tea. This razor also hugs your curves to give you a close, safe, smooth shave. Sure you can use his razor, but the Gillette Venus razors are just for girls...so treat yourself! It's a good razor at a reasonable price.

This review is really for the entire line and not just the Eye cream, which was good. It's a bit long, as I've just reviewed it for the upcoming Advice Sisters What Works Beauty, Cosmetics & Fashion review column. I have thought thought of Olay as one of the better, budget skin care lines. By budget, I don't mean that the products are cheesy or cheeply made, just that they are not going to cost the same as a designer handbag! Let me paraphrase: This new set of Olay Professional-Pro-X products are more expensive by far than their other lines. So what's the difference between the regular Olay products and these products (other than nice looking red and white packaging? For starters, they contain stronger and in some cases, newer ingredients and formulas. The cost is higher, but research and technology and advertising need to be compensated, somehow. Depending upon which products you choose, they promise results in 28 days to: eliminate dryness, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, smooth out uneven skin texture, reduce the look of crows feet, and deal with dark circles and puffiness under your eyes. One particular product, the Age Repair Lotion, has an SPF of 30 and comes in a pump bottle, making it my favorite product. Doe it work? It is difficult to impossible for me to say that these products are better than the existing Olay Regenerist line, or that you really can see results in less than a month. But, given Olay's resources and great track record with skincare products, these products should perform as well or better than anything else you are currently using. They also (not all but most) have a new peptide that's even more powerful than the one in Olay Regenerist. If your skin is sensitive, however, the stronger product may not be the one that's best for you. The most important thing to remember about skincare is that you need to find the products that satisfy the needs of your type of skin, use them correctly, and regularly. The best skincare product in the world will dissapoint you if you pick the wrong one, or don't use it properly or consistently. If I had to bet on Olay, I think I'd be picking a winner!

Some years ago, The Advice Sisters reviewed a glitter product that we really like, from Girlactik Beauty. I just assumed that their products were all about glitter, but the company also has products that sparkle less, and shine or glow in more subtle ways. One that really perks up Winter weary skin is Skin Glow $26.00 . The creamy but solid (applied with a sponge puff) product adds a warm, shimmery, light and translucent finish to skin wherever you smooth it on. A little gives a shimmery, peachy glow, but if you layer on a bit more it can turn into a bronzing blush. Be careful though! Too much warmth and glitter looks "faux." The product is easily blended, yet it doesn't have a greasy or heavy feel at all. Even better, the product has Vitamin E and has a subtle, Jasmine Green Tea fragrance. It's a nice pick-me-up for more youthful, vibrant looking skin.

Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Revitalizing - Skin Polishing Ritual
Aromatherapy Distillations - Revitalizing - Skin Polishing Ritual-Really Nice for Spa Night
Are you feeling tired? Do you long for a spa night-just-for-one, at home? Aromatherapy Distillations Revitalizing Skin Polishing Ritual $49.50 by Crabtree & Evelyn gives you a reason to order in, and tune out for a change. The set has two parts: a blend of aromatic, exfoliating spices that you blend with rich tropical body butter to suit your personal specifications. Mix a bit of oil and exfoliating spices together in equal parts of more of one, less of the other, to get rid of dry, dead skin cells, and smooth and pamper your body, hands and feet. This cello-boxed set has the following for smooth skin and a revitalized attitude: Jar of Exotic Spice Medley (5.25 oz): loose grains include ginger root powder (exfoliating, polishing), apricot seed powder (smoothing), clove powder (exfoliating), cinnamon bark powder (exfoliating), nutmeg fruit powder (exfoliating), powdered luffa fruit fibers (exfoliating), and kuki seed oil (skin conditioning). The scent is really spicy, reminiscent of the spice market in Morocco. Jar of Ultra Moisturizing Body Butter (8.8 OZ). This solid and super-emollient product has the uplifting scent of an essential oil blend of lemon, spearmint, mandarin, ylang ylang and star anise. It's good-for-your-skin ingredients include: essential oil blend: lemon essential oil, spearmint essential oil, mandarin essential oil, ylang ylang essential oil and star anise essential oil (Revitalizing), Mango seed butter (moisturizing), avocado oil (skin nourishing), coconut oil (skin conditioning), sweet almond oil (moisturizing); You also get an ivory, ceramic mixing bowl, and an applicator/mixing implement (I immediately misplaced mine, and just used a small spoon). I liked the "ritual" of blending the rough and aromatic spices with the emollient solid cream body butter, and the result was definitely smoother, softer skin. The only downside (if there is one) is that you'll have an additional bowl to clean, and the paste does need to be washed off and out of your tub. However, the process of blending the two ingredients together means that you get just the amount of product you want to use, in just the right blend to suit your personal skin preferences. No jar or tube of exfoliating scrub gives you this option. The ritual of blending also makes you slow down a bit and it feels pampering...and good. It makes a great gift idea, and a nice little pick-me-up that you can perform

Recently, the Advice Sisters received a package with a mascara from L'Oreal Paris. Double Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara is a dual-ended mascara that has a Nourishing Base Coat, and a Mascara on the other end. The base coat has Ceramide R and D-Pathenol to protect, nourish and strengthen the lashes you have, and of course, it acts as an anchor for the color mascara on top. Swipe the mascara on your lashes and besides leaving the color, tiny tubes help extend the length so they look 60%+ longer. The product is Ophthalmologist and allergy tested so even contact lens wearers can try this one (although the little tube pieces might come off and fall into your eye if you're rubbing them and you're not being careful). The package said that the fragrance-free product would come off easily with soap and water, but to get your eyes really clean, I suggest an eye makeup remover. It's a bit disconcerting when you see the tiny bits of mascara (the tube) in your washcloth! Several coats of this mascara and base coat really did make my lashes look a lot longer. I don't normally "go for the faux," but if you added several coats for holiday parties, this mascara could be a lot easier than grappling with false eyelashes--and almost as effective. You can get this in any drugstore or mass market retailer online or off...

There's nothing better than treating yourself to a great facial in a salon or spa, but if money's tight, you can still DIY and get great results...as long as you use a great product. One I really like is the Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask by Bliss. Rub this citrus-y smelling gel into damp skin and within seconds, a frothy mask sizzles like gentle pop rocks on your skin. What is happening is that the mask is releasing oxygen and a significant form of vitamin C, time-released antioxidants, and a moisture into your skin. The result is a complexion that looks and feels brighter, fresher, and younger-looking. The product in a pump bottle takes only five minutes to work was inspired by Bliss Spa's most-famous facial, which gives skin the energy it needs for everyday metabolism, collagen synthesis, and detoxifying action. My personal experience? I left the foam on a full five minutes (I got side-tracked because I was typing the beginning of this post as the mask went to work, so maybe it was a minute or two over). The foam was a bit distracting, but pleasant (made me feel like it was really working) and when I rinsed, my skin definitely looked brighter and felt energized. It really worked well..almost instant gratification. I love the Bliss Spa(s) and while this product isn't a pamperlingly fun as an in-person facial, it's still fun to use, and pleasant and effective. A little of this product goes a long way, so you'll still get spa-quality results, at home and save a bundle.

What do Paris and Paris Hilton have in common? The former has the Moulin Rouge, known for the famous dancers of the Moulin Rouge nightclub who performed the sexy "can can." The second, is known for being Paris (Hilton) and naming her second fragrance after the Moulin-Rouge Can Can by Paris Hilton for Parlux Fragrances, Inc. has all the makings of a flirtatious, glamorous scent. For many, Paris Hilton has star quality, an undeniable allure that is part elegant heiress, part shockingly sexy young beauty. The packaging is bright and saucy: a black sleeve with a photo of Paris Hilton herself in a shocking pink can-can dress, standing in front of a double row of heart-shaped staged lights with a middle of red flowers. The box beneath is textured white with metallic maroon print and a wispy feather seemingly floating to the bottom of the box. The bottle is a voluptuous, clear glass "Genie's" bottle with a clear and hot pink- topped cap. The fragrance within embodies Paris's own personality: a vibrant, youthful show-stopper, a bit soft, a bit daring and wild, but also a bit elegant and ladylike. The light, fruity floral mix starts with bright top notes of clementine flower, juicy cassis and nectarine, mixed into a heart of wild orchid, orange blossom, and at the bottom, soft musk, sensual amber, and sexy woods. This is the type of fragrance that will smell just a bit different on each wearer depending upon body chemistry. On some of us it remained a fruity floral, but for others, the fragrance melded into a sensual, creamy musk with fruits and florals in the background. This is a perfect everyday fragrance for young and old, and a "special occasion" scent for slightly younger women.

M by Mariah Carey Eau de Parfum Spray, distributed by Elizabeth Arden comes in a romantic lilac-colored bottle that looks like a Tiare blossom on the verge of opening. On the top of the glass bottle is a large butterfly, wings outspread, on the top, banded with a braided silver rim. This beautiful bottle (designed with Mariah and Jean Anteretter of Elizabeth Arden) is a small work of art, definitely dressing table-worthy. This is the singer/songwriter's first fragrance, and it won't disappoint you. The fragrance starts with marshmallow that smells almost good enough to eat, capturing Mariah's fond childhood memories of being in the kitchen with her father. It blends with a heart of living Tahitian Tiare flower and wet gardenia petals, reminiscent of Hawaii and Capri, Maria's favorite getaways. The base is sheer amber and spicy, woods accents of Moroccan incense, that blend nicely with the florals, making this a light floriental that works for day or evening. It's sensual, but still sweet and light enough to wear any time of day, with casual clothes or business attire. Whether this is your first scent, or your fiftieth scent, M Mariah Carey will be one you'll want to have in your collection. It will, of course, make a welcome gift, too.

Britney Spears Believe, distributed by Elizabeth Arden, is Britney's third fragrance. This one is a blend of exotic fruits, soft florals and seductive amber. The pop superstar might have had her share of troubles, but this new fragrance has all the right stuff for success. For starters, the packaging is cute and playful, with metallic green and hot pink dots on two sides and a hinged top that flips open to reveal a hot pink and silver metallic interior. The bottle is similarly sophisticated and eye-catching, without being trashy or kitsch-y. It is clear glass, with bold, triangular lines and a triangular silver top (with subtle, Britney signature in one corner), and a clear Lucite triangular cap. The bottle is really unusual and does justice to the peridot-tinted fragrance within. The fragrance is a grown up fruity floral. The top notes are guava pulp and golden tangerine, with a heart of honeysuckle with hints of linden blossom, and the bottom notes are patchouli aura, sensual amber, and pink pralines. The effect is bright, light and sparkling, but like the celebrity herself, a bit seductive but still soft, feminine and youthful. The pop star is still a big draw. Her fragance entices fans and fragrance lovers, alike.
