  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Mascara

I bought this because my new obsession is finding good products with safer ingredients. If Tinkerbell had mascara, I'm pretty sure it would look like this, and I think the packaging is a little much...but, this rates really well in terms of ingredient safety, and it brushes on almost exactly like LashBlast, which I've been using for a while. The regular black is actually way darker than I was expecting, and it looks good. It does smudge and run pretty easily, like other readers have said, but it also comes off of your undereyes easily if it does end up down there, which sometimes happens to me but it's barely noticeable. I wear hard contacts and my eyes feel irritated some days, but it's hard to tell if this contributes to that or not, because all kinds of stuff causes it. Overall, this mascara is a decent buy if you're looking for something effective and safe.

  • Alba Cream Shave

    Alba Cream Shave

    pretty good

I decided to try this shave stuff after finding out that another "organic" company puts some really scary ingredients into their cream shave, which is actually a really popular and well reviewed product. Shame on them. Anyway, this stuff is decent. I have the mint kind, which smells nice and makes my skin kind of tingly. It doesn't provide the smoothest shave ever in the whole world, but it's pretty good. And for the safe ingredients, plus the price, it's alright.

  • Kiss My Face Ultra Moisturizer

    Kiss My Face Ultra Moisturizer

    kind of different....

I was really excited to try this lotion, but now I feel kind of let down. The smell is lovely, it's yummy and sweet without being overpowering. But, when it comes out of the pump the consistency feels pretty watery, so you think you need to get a little bit more. But THEN when you start to rub it in, it turns crazy bright white, and takes FOREVER to get it all rubbed in! It's moisturizing but not amazingly so, and it's pretty much the weirdest body lotion I've ever used. The extra time commitment to apply it isn't a huge deal, so I will probably use it until the bottle is gone because it also wasn't the cheapest ever. So far I can't decide if I really like it or not.

  • Dr. Bronner's Organic Baby Mild Liquid Soap

I've been using this on my 15 month old for a couple of weeks now, and I don't think I'll ever go back to anything else. I was using a baby wash specifically for dry skin and eczema, because one of the first times we gave her a bath we tried using the conventional baby washes (which shall remain nameless), and her skin FREAKED OUT. Her entire trunk turned bright red and irritated, and she SCREAMED....it was awful. I was mostly satisfied with the eczema wash I was using, but this stuff is even better. Even 2 days after her last bath, her skin is still moisturized and doesn't feel dry at all. And since we've been using it, I haven't seen her scratch at herself like she was before. I couldn't recommend this any more highly, and another plus is that it doesn't have the scary ingredients that everything else has. I will definitely be giving a bottle to all the new mommies I know :)

  • Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer

wow, this moisturizer has gotten a really bad rap on here so far, but I can understand why it might not be ideal for everyone. but for me, the pluses wayyy outweigh the minuses. First of all, this moisturizer rates extremely safe in terms of ingredients, so the "organic" label they slap on it is actually pretty legit. Other reviewers have complained about the way it smells, but the smell is pretty much what I would expect from a natural, safe product with no artifical fragrance and lots of natural ingredients. Also, it is perfect for my combination skin. It doesn't moisturize a ton and the consistency is in fact sort of watery, but it provides more color coverage than other tinted moisturizers I've tried, which is a huge plus because in the past I haven't been pleased with the amount of coverage in certain products. The only reason I give it 9 is because there are days, few and far between, when this does not give my skin enough moisture, but then I just mix it with something else. Overall I'm really pleased with this product, especially considering how safe it is :)

  • Nature's Gate Tea Tree Lotion For Irritated, Distressed Skin

I pretty much like everything about this lotion. It's a mostly natural product and way safer than most of the stuff out there, and it's effective and rubs in well. Even though it says it's for irritated skin, I don't think it does anything special for my skin that other lotions don't do, and it doesn't soothe the red patches I get after every time I shower. But, I really like that it's a natural product, and it doesn't have artificial fragrance, which is a plus. But for me, I get bored with products that have absolutely no fragrance, but you can smell the tea tree in this lotion and it's from a natural source, so it's perfect.

  • Avon PLANET SPA Mediterranean Olive Oil Whipped Body Cream

I bought this out of the catalog because it was 2 Planet Spa items for like $6 or something. I really, really like it, but it seems like I went through it really fast. To the point where I'm not sure that I'd pay whatever was the full price for it. But, it's super creamy and really moisturizing, and the fragrance is wonderful and soft without being overpowering. My only gripe is that it takes a little more work than most lotions to get it all rubbed in, and sometimes it totally feels like I have it all rubbed in but I look and can still see a patch of white cream on my skin. But overall, this is an awesome lotion that's totally worth buying, but probably on sale! :)

  • Avalon Organics Conditioner

    Avalon Organics Conditioner

    not convinced....

my Kiss My Face shampoo and conditioner are almost gone, so I went looking for a replacement and wanted to try something else natural. Now I am pretty much officially on the no-sulfate bandwagon, by the way. I've heard good things about Avalon so I bought the lavender shampoo and conditioner. This conditioner rinsed out super fast and left my hair feeling more squeaky-clean than I would expect. And by the end of the day, my hair was a static bomb! This has only happened with one other product before, and I'm pretty bummed about it. I think this shampoo and conditioner stripped everything good out of my hair, because it was left totally flat which is usually what happens when it's dried out. I'll keep trying it and using more, and leaving the conditioner in longer and see what happens, but so far I'm not too stoked on this. :(

  • Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash

I bought this face wash because I was having a really hard time finding something to keep my face clear of its occasional breakouts, but I wanted to find something that's safer to use without scary ingredients like SA and BP. This face wash ROCKS. Within a week it completely changed my skin. It washes without drying but without leaving anything behind either. And it's all natural, I think it gets a 1 on a scale of 0 to 10 on cosmeticsdatabase for ingredient safety. Probably the safest product I own, but I'm trying to do better overall :) The reason I give it a 9 is because the scent is a little much, it's all herbs and natural oils, so it smells natural but in kind of an unusual way...rad stuff tho :)

  • Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner 2 in 1

I took this stuff on vacation so I'd have to pack less, but I have several gripes. First, I figured that a moisturizing shampoo-conditioner thing would go pretty easy on my hair color that was a couple weeks old, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I was using sulfate-free stuff at home, and as soon as I used this and got out of the shower, I turned the hotel's white bath towel pink! And after several days of using it, I'm thinking I might have to do my red dye again. Also, the instructions are really sneaky and tell you to do the process twice, which to me totally defeats the purpose of using a 2 in 1...why not just do a separate shampoo and conditioner and thereby take better care of your hair?? I only did the process once and my hair ended up a static-bomb, but I also wanted to preserve my hair color the best I could. This stuff did not make me a happy vacationer.
