  • Clairol Nice 'n Easy Permanent Hair Color

I've used this several times in a few different shades. I didn't have any problems with the lighter ones, but when I tried to go dark brown, my hair turned BLACK!! It's happened twice, even though the second time I was SUPER careful about the timing so I knew I wouldn't leave it in too long. Luckily black hair doesn't break my heart, even though everyone at work made fun of me for going goth. But just to be on the safe side, I probably won't ever use this stuff again.

  • Jason 84% Aloe Vera cream

I was looking for a naturally based moisturizer to use on my face, that wouldn't break the bank, and this is what the grocery store had. I was hesitant and skeptical because it's not designed as a facial moisturizer specifically, but I have been super happy with it. The fragrance is nice and not overdone, and it does what I need it to without causing breakouts or any other issues. It absorbs easily and provides just the right amount of moisture for my normal-ish skin. Obviously no fancy anti-aging benefits or anything like that, but that's fine and it does the job. I use it for my hands too!

  • The Honest Company Honest Conditioner

I've used this a couple of times on my 7 year old, she has straight, really long hair. Both times, it has left this crazy residue behind no matter how much we rinsed. The second time I used way less and had the same result. Her hair still feels super gunky after a couple of washes with our previous routine, I think we might need to do some hardcore washing with a clarifying shampoo to get this stuff out. I can't find any other reviews of somebody having this experience, but it's SUPER annoying. Since people seem to like it as a whole, once I finally get her hair clean again maybe we'll give it another shot, with maybe like a dime-sized amount...

    Lush Seanik Solid Shampoo

    Love it, so far!

I replaced my sulfate free shampoo with this, and followed it with the conditioner that matches my old shampoo. In spite of this bar containing SLS, I am so happy with the results. Where my previous shampoo sometimes would leave my hair with static, yet my roots and bangs would get greasy within like 24 hours, I'm having neither issue with this shampoo bar! It's actually left my hair smoother, and kept it looking clean longer. I can't say it's added additional volume like it claims, but overall I'm super happy with it.

  • Wen Six Thirteen Daily Cleansing Treatment

Yet another Chaz Dean product that I have tried and followed instructions to the letter, amd come out with less than ideal results :-( My hair (scalp and bangs mostly) tend to get oily within a day or two of washing, and these products just don't make anything better for me. I've tried an entire big QVC bottle of sweet almond mint and cucumber aloe (which actually had worse results than the sweet almond even though it's designed for oily hair) and now this one. This one has been the worst for me. The smell is heavenly, and for someone who is cognizant of natural and safe ingredients in products, this stuff is pretty legit. It only has like 3 chemical names listed, but for me, that's unfortunately where the positives end. I shower in the evenings, and when I wake up the next morning, you can't even totally tell I washed my hair right before going to bed. I have to baby powder my bangs, amd sometimes even dry shampoo. I love the idea of Wen and everything about what they stand for, but I guess it's a company that's just out of reach for me and my silly hair.

  • Rimmel London BB Cream 9-in-1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup

This is my first venture into the world of the BB cream, and if this is the norm, I'm a little confused. I struggle to see what the difference is between this, and a regular foundation (in a super limited variety of shades) that you apply with your fingers. My understanding of BB creams is that they are lighter than a foundation, but a bit more coverage than a tinted moisturizer, and this stuff is heavier than the foundational I typically use. I bought the medium shade because that's what I wear in tinted moisturizers, I'm a white girl but not super fair skinned, and this makes me look ORANGE. The price isn't bad, I might decide to try the light shade once this is gone and see what I think. I do like the level of coverage, but again, it's more than I expected from a BB cream. I'd prefer a BB cream to leave me with a more natural look, and definitely not looking like an oompa loompa. In the meantime, I'm mixing this 50/50 with my moisturizer until it's gone.

  • Batiste Dry Shampoo

    Batiste Dry Shampoo

    Best one out there

I wash my hair every other day and use a dry shampoo on the days in between. This is the BEST I've tried, and I've tried quite a few. I have dark brown, fine, straight hair thay tends to get oily in the roots and in my bangs by the second day. It does get rid of the oil without leaving anything from the spray behind, and while it does go on with a bit of a white cast, I've found that if I massage it in, then brush vigorously, it goes away. I do also hit my bangs with some baby powder, but this keeps the grease away for the day. There are cheaper ones out there, but the ones I've tried totally don't work, leave my hair wet and still greasy, etc. The price point on this one is reasonable for the effectiveness, and I really just need to stop shopping around, as I'm disappointed every time.

  • PMD Personal Microderm

    PMD Personal Microderm

    Totally works!

I had the opportunity to give this one a try, and it's pretty awesome. After 3 uses, with a week in between each time (as directed,) my skin does look brighter and feel smoother, and my smile lines are actually a little less noticeable. In 3 uses I didn't make it past the discs for sensitive skin, but I'm still very pleased. Refills aren't too expensive either, so I will probably continue to use it. One disc is good for 2 uses or so. I used the larger disc on my arms, where I get dry patches on the backs of my arms above and below my elbows, and after one use, they felt a lot nicer too. The suction that this device creates is an interesting sensation, but you can totally tell it's WORKING. The first time I used it on my face, I could tell exactly where I'd been because it left white streaks, even with the training disc, of all the old grodey skin that was coming off, but it wasn't painful. I do need to use quite a bit more moisturizer since starting with this, but that's because it really ups your skin's ability to absorb products. My only criticism is that sometimes I wake up with dry patches after using it the night before, even if I drench my face in moisturizer right afterward. That, and the price is such that I'm not sure I would have bought this unit at full price, because while it's cool and does what it says it will, it's just not something I would have necessarily sought out to drop a chunk of change on. And finally, it would be nice if it could operate without needing to be plugged into an outlet, because that makes it a little limited. Otherwise though, a pretty great device.

  • Lush Massage Bars

    Lush Massage Bars

    very nice

I bought the strawberry one for my girls, and it's pretty great. It looks like a giant heart-shaped strawberry, which is adorable. And it smells amazing. I use it myself sometimes. It's a little more uncomfortable for them for me to apply, because you do have to rub quite hard for it to be effective, and it's a whole lot easier in the summer when the bar is naturally a bit softer. The moisturizing effect doesn't last super long, and I wish it was easier to get a deeper, more spreadable texture for them. Overall, a pretty good product at a decent price.

  • Lush Solid Perfumes

Vanillary could very well become my signature scent. I ADORE it. It's vanilla but sweet and a little musky at the same time. The solid perfume is really easily to apply. I keep one in my desk at work, and rub a bit on my neck a couple times during the day. It's not super long lasting, the lady at the store told me that the solid fragrance has the lowest concentration of the actual fragrance, where the spray fragrances are more concentrated, so they must last longer. I might invest in one of the sprays, but the solid is a cheaper way to go, and the stick seems like it will last quite a long time.
