I feel good about using a non-toxic nail polish (the strong scent didn't bother me as a teenager, but it does now). It covers easily, with a great texture. Oh and the shades--there are shades for every woman to fall in love with! This didn't last any longer than other polishes, but I love using it.

This delightfully-scented balm is comprised of only three ingredients: Cotton Seed Oil, a Petrolatum Base, and "Aromol," which is their name for a blend of essential oils. It makes your lips supple, works well on chafed hands, moisturizes cuticles, and even helps to heal minor cuts and abrasions. The scent is what keeps me coming back--along with the cute, portable container.

Neutrogena's "Facial Cleansing Bar for Acne-Prone Skin" is so misunderstood and under-appreciated! Though I don't use it often now, it made a huge difference in the way I looked when I was troubled by acne or cyclical breakouts. It is formulated to deep-clean skin. It is hypo-allergenic, lathers wonderfully, and rinses thoroughly. One of the key ingredients in here is Glycerin--yes, Glycerin! You see, those suffering with acne are already most likely using products containing Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid which dry skin. This gives skin a break, ridding it of these so that it won't be overly dry and peel. This more gentle approach eventually results in clear skin. Neutrogena KNOWS what they are doing, and I am still thankful for this!

Oh, Rainbath! I remember years ago when we had to submit our Christmas gift wish to our teaching colleagues. I ask for "Rainbath." Everyone asked for practical items, like new pens, organizers, or markers. I was embarrassed at the Christmas party, but I shouldn't have been. Rainbath has an AMAZING fresh scent which is a blend of spices, fruits, and herbs. It leaves skin silky-smooth, refreshed, and hydrated (actually, I have an "attitude improvement" with this product!). Use in the shower, in the bath, or apply directly to legs before shaving. We had our bathroom redone just recently. The contractor was asking what kind of shelves would be built into the tub-surround. I said that I really didn't care, just so that they were tall enough to hold the forty-ounce container I always have!

Since when have concealing products taken front and center when it comes to cosmetics? For most of my life, I used a stick formula around my eyes and on areas I wanted to cover. Even then I didn't like tugging on tender skin here, and I wanted to shout for joy when a friend introduced me to a liquid version in a tube. It seems as though a new product guaranteed to make dark circles and imperfections disappear arrives on the shelves daily. I do like Estee Lauder's "Ideal Light Brush-On Illuminator," but I don't love it. It is formulated with Photo Optic™ Technology to diffuse light and minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles. There is a "Soft Pink" available which is most flattering to just about every woman's complexion. But, as a concealer in general, I don't find it quite as blendable or seamless as I do YSL's, Dior's, or even Cover Girl's "Invisible" concealer. It seems to leave light circles no matter how well I blend, and the shade is as close to my own skin tone as possible. Sometimes too much formula comes out at one time, leaving a bit of a mess. A word to the wise here: Never apply the tip of a brush to a blemish. You will just pick up germs from the infected area and contaminate the entire product. It is better to use a clean finger or--better yet--a concealer brush or Q-tip to stipple the product around the area which needs to be disguised. For $26.50, I wouldn't purchase this product again.

There was a time when I wouldn't use any brush but those from Profaces (the price tags would send you into shock). I learned to love them and then the company quit making them. I started using ELF's brushes. This contour brush makes working with cosmetics a breeze! Though the bristles are artificial and not natural, they are downy-like and dense. It withstands my weekly cleanings well. I can't recommend this enough!

Chanel No. 5 is heralded as the world's finest perfume, with good reason. It was the first fragrance released by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel in 1921 (compounded by a Russian-French chemist). Until that time, women of class wore a single-note floral scent. Coco wanted to embrace the feminism rising at the time by including a few more notes. A key ingredient is the "Rosa Centifolia" (the "May Rose"), still grown exclusively in the fields of Grasse, France. Other components are Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Orange Blossom, Dutch Jonquil, Florentine Iris--and Musk, Patchouli, and Vetiver, which give it its heady, sophisticated, sultry quality. What Coco created is a fragrance that has withstood time and trends (in the 1950's, Marilyn Monroe was asked what she wore to bed and said, "Five drops of Chanel No. 5"). It is a magnificent, sophisticated, yet seductive fragrance. My husband goes wild when I wear it, so I save it for special occasions. This is an aroma to be cherished . . .

As opposed to Chanel's very strong "Coco," I find "Cristalle" delightfully light, crisp, and fresh, with green and floral notes. It never overwhelms, but just leaves you smelling fresh and lovely.

I believe this fragrance is meant to be heady, elegant, and mysterious. It's a disaster. It seemed like a took a tumble in an old incense shop--it was so harsh and bitter that I found it repugnant. So did my mother and sister. I'm actually afraid to try "Chanel Coco Mademoiselle" because of my horrid experience with the original.

This is a finely-milled, nearly weightless powder which has a scent so soft and so delightful that you can layer it under perfume and not be overwhelming. It is as beautiful as the fragrance itself and seems to leave a luminous glow on my skin. I love the reviewer's suggestion to use it as a dry shampoo and intend to try that!
