Veet Legs & Body Ready-to-Use Wax Strip Kit

The best - if you do it right!

I love these! But you have to do it right. People who are complaining about them leaving residue are doing it wrong. You need to wash and exfoliate your skin first, so the strips adhere properly. And you need to make sure you're pulling the strip off at the right angle. You should be pulling so it stays close to your body, if you pull up and away from your skin, thats when it leaves wax residue. Also, make sure you properly stick the strips on, rub them to make sure they are stuck down good! It takes a couple times to get really good, but its worth it!

  • Mary Kay At Play Lip Crayons

When my lovely Mary Kay rep Carla sent me the @Play Lip Crayon, I was like "omg she knows me so well!!" I have a total lip gloss obsession and I was so excited to try this! The color I got was Toasted, which is a really pretty neutral. The website reads: This two-in-one lip color and lip liner delivers high-impact, lasting color with a shimmery finish. Features a soft, lightweight, buttery texture. Glides on smoothly and effortlessly without drying lips. Blends easily and offers buildable coverage. Cost: $10 for a crayon First impressions: The color is really neutral, so right away I was excited that I could wear it at work. They are not kidding when they say it has a buttery texture! The texture is more lip gloss than lip stick, in my opinion. It didn't dry my lips, and didn't sit on top. It blended in and definitely felt moisturizing. Application: I wanted to play with the buildable coverage, because I'm always looking for items that can transition from work to play. One swipe across each lip blends to leave a little bit of soft natural looking color. Two or three swipes gives a really good pop of color. The all day test: I don't really expect any lip product to last all day (unless its a stain, of course) but there's a big difference between reapplying every 5 mins, and every hour or two! One reason I don't often wear lip stick at work is because it can make my lips feel dry as it starts to wear off, so I feel like I'm reapplying constantly!! One thing I really liked about the MK lip crayon is that the moisturizing feeling lasted, so I never felt like my lips got dry! I tested the lip crayon at work, glancing in the mirror often to see how the color was staying. I think on average I got a hour or two of color from each application. Bottom line: If you're looking for a good all around lip color, this is going to be your new go-to product! The MK lip crayon combines a lip gloss-like moisturizing texture with beautiful buildable color.

  • Avon Instant Manicure Dry Nail Enamel Strips

Avon Instant Manicure Dry Nail Enamel Strips

Revamped: Avon's nail art design strips

One of the first goodies my rep Karen sent me was Avon's new nail art strips. She knows how obsessed with nail art I am!! The website reads: Easy-on, easy-off nail fashion. Won’t smudge or rub off. You had me at "easy." My least favorite thing about nail polish is the work I have to put in to get a decent mani!! Cost: $10 for one mani. First impression: I got the color Hot Pink Bling. Its the one the model is wearing on her left side in the picture. The color in real life is less "hot pink" and more "pretty pink." I was pleasantly surprised, honestly, because its a much prettier color than hot pink, and much less seasonal. I think the color is best described as the love child of hot pink and bubblegum pink. My biggest first impression was that the strips are both similar to, and different from the Sally Hansen ones I've used in the past. For one thing, they are actually 3D, the gems are real, they aren't just an image. They didn't have the strong nail polish smell that the Sally ones do, and they were packaged much simpler. With the Sally ones, you have to first break apart the ones you want, then peel off a top layer of plastic, then peel the nail art from the back, then apply. The Avon ones seriously just look like stickers on a sheet, sooo much easier! Application: On the website, they provide a nice how to picture. Now we all know I don't follow directions well. However, in this case, they were really simple, so even I couldn't manage to screw it up. I had experience with the Sally strips, so I was pleasantly surprised by these! Applying these is SO much easier!!!! Its like the difference between 1st grade math (Avon) and college level calc (Sally). For one thing, these did not tear on me once. I tear at least a couple Sally strips every time! If I didn't manage to tear any, I'm going to say they pretty much don't tear. This is probably because they are thicker and stretchier. To get the smoothest application, apply the top against your cuticles and press it down firmly, then gently stretch them just a little bit down across the nail. This point is usually where I'd be tearing the crap out of the Sally strips, but these stretched like a dream! Also, they do not loose sticky when you touch them. I'm like beyond uncoordinated, so me applying these was a mess! I kept touching the bottom of the strips. Miraculously, they lost absolutely no sticky no matter how much I handled them. Actually, on my first couple nails I put the strip on totally crooked and had to peel it off and reposition. They still stuck just fine. Seriously impressive. I thought it would be interesting to time how long it took me from start to finish. I timed the application process on the stopwatch on my phone. Sixteen minutes, no joke!! There's definitely a learning curve, so I'm pretty confident I could do it in under 10 mins next time. I could not be happier with the finished product!! Bottom line: These are the best nail art strips I've ever tried! They were truly easy to apply (not only easy if you're ambidextrous and freakishly coordinated) and they look great! I've been getting tons of compliments (the cashier at Target stopped to ask me about they while I was paying). So far they still look perfect, and its been a week. (And keep in mind I wash my hands like 100 a day and do dishes at least 5 times!!) In one word: LOVE.

  • Benefit Posietint

    Benefit Posietint

    Posietint

I already reviewed Benetint, Benefit's rose colored lip and cheek stain. Posietint is their poppy-pink colored lip and cheek stain. I loved Benetint, so I was super excited to try Posietint! The website reads: This poppy-pink tinted stain brightens cheeks & lips with a cheery flush and natural finish. Kiss-proof & nuzzle-proof, the liquid-gel formula blends to just-picked perfection on all complexions and lasts for hours. COST: $30 for a full size bottle You get a little bit more product than with Benetint, and I think its because its slightly less spreadable than Benetint is. WHY I WANTED TO TRY IT: I loved Benetint!! But I think with my porcelain skin that I look really good in pink colors. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Its much thicker than Benetint, which was like water. This is more of a gel texture. Its a really bright, pretty pink. I knew from my experience with Benetint that the color of the product isn't necessarily indicative of the color you'll get when you use it. I tested it on my hand some and found that it stained much more quickly than the Benetint does. It also didn't spread as well. APPLICATION: The website reads For the most even flush, dab posietint on our foundation brush and blend on one cheek at a time. But as we all know, I don't follow directions. Because it stains faster than Benetint and doesn't blend as well, I decided the best way to apply it would be to do smaller sections at a time. I started by drawing a little circle at the apples of my cheeks and blending that, then dotting a line up my cheek to my temples and blending that. Just like Benetint, it stained my fingers (not a huge deal). It gives a really pretty pink blush!! I followed by very lightly dusting my usual blush over it. THE ALL DAY TEST: I wore it to work every day last week. I'm in loooooove!!! It was over 90 degrees a few days last week. I was dripping sweat from my face as I walked the kids home. When we played outside, I melted. When we got inside, I got a paper towel wet and wiped down my face. Then I remembered my makeup and had a moment of panic!! But, upon looking in the mirror, I saw that my Posietint had stayed perfectly fine through all the sweating, 90 degree heat, and my crude washing of my face. Nice!! BOTTOM LINE: Its expensive, so I wouldn't recommend it for people who are perfectly happy with powder blush. For those of us who need extra staying power, though, its an amazing option that frees you from worrying about your blush melting off your face!

  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure

This is my favorite nail polish after OPI and Essie. Here's why: First off, this stuff is close to one coat color. Its not quite a gel polish, but its close. Its got a thickish texture, but still spreads well and doesn't streak. I usually do two coats, because I like vibrant, perfect color, and I can't stand it if the color is semi translucent, but for people that don't mind translucent color, this could be one coat color. Secondly, this is one swipe nail polish. I LOVE that so much. The brush is extra thick and wide, and is flat. You only need one swipe to cover the entire nail. That means way less chance of streaks. I hate thin brushes when you need to redip and end up with streaks because some of the polish has started to dry. Its a mess. I never end up with that when using this polish. Third, great colors! I buy polish because its a color I like, so no matter how great this polish is, I wouldn't own any if it didn't come in spectacular colors. I always check the display to see what new seasonal colors have come out. I think Sally Hansen has done really well making this line trendy, they always have the newest, hottest colors. Bottom line: Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure nail polish is wonderful. Its got a good consistency, thicker but not too thick. It spreads well and covers in minimal coats. The brush is wide and flat, allowing you to coat in fewer strokes. And this nail polish line comes in the newest trendy colors every season. I highly recommend it!

  • Mary Kay TimeWise Age-Fighting Moisturizer (normal to dry)

I have this annoying in between skin, where I'm still getting breakouts like I'm 16, but I'm also getting dry patches now and most likely, wrinkles soon. I had been using the clear Neutrogena bar for the last 15 years, because it worked the best at keeping the acne at bay. However, as I got older, I got more and more dry and dull patches. A friend had a Mary Kay party and everyone raved about this and the lotion. I ended up talking to consultant and she had some amazing advice, She told me that there was no reason I had to use the same cleanser/lotion all the time. (Why this was news to me, I don't know!) She recommended I use the Oily/Normal cleanser and lotion in the morning, and the Dry/Normal before bed. That way I'm not over drying, or over moisturizing. It worked PERFECT!!! I wake up with crazy moisturized, soft skin, but the morning cleanser and moisturizer are also keeping the pimples away! Let me warn you, just like they warned me before I tried it. If you are prone to acne, you'll break out when you first try this stuff. Everyone I know who uses it says they had a horrible two weeks of bad break outs but then their skin magically cleared up. Thats exactly what happened to me. I found it really curious, so I asked my doctor and she said zits you see on your face are actually weeks old by the time they get to the surface, so what you're seeing at the time is a reaction to the past few weeks of care. She thought the breakouts may have been older blemishes being brought to the surface. Whatever the reason, after a couple weeks, my skin cleared up and is completely better! I still break out with a zit here or there sometimes, so I only gave it a 9. But I don't ever have dry patches, and the little scrubbing beads in the Oily/Normal cleanser got rid of my dull looking skin too. Bottom Line: I say whatever your issue is, this line of products can solve it, because I had every issue!
