Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum-In-Oil, $7.99 I learned long ago that, when traveling, I can't rely on hotel conditioners -- or even the stuff my parents stock at their place (sorry, Mom!) -- to mollify my coarse hair. But instead of packing a travel-sized bottle of my favorite conditioner, I've started throwing this hair oil in my bag. I can apply it to the ends of my wet hair after showering for a mega-dose of moisture and softness -- which a lackluster conditioner might not provide. Unlike a travel-sized conditioner, this little guy is a heck of a multi-tasker. I can also use it before I blow-dry my hair for an extra-shiny finish or apply a small amount to dry hair to help tamp down frizz. And of course, it works just as well when I'm not jet-setting. --Mary Squillace
