  • Make Up For Ever HD Microfinishing Loose Powder

This is easily one of my favorite setting powders EVER. Work a little bit in your brush (swish it well) and dab all over your face. Most people tend to put TOO much powder on their face which is why they complain too much about looking too powdery. This powder is razor sharp and ultra refined--it will look completely invisible when applied correctly. In fact, I think my makeup looks better with this on than without it because it really helps to control shine and blur fine lines and edges. Don't be afraid to try this on if you have darker skin because the powder looks white. I work with MUFE products and I am always willing to demonstrate on women of color to reinforce my claims that this goes on completely invisible. It feels light weight as well. You can wear this on top of makeup or alone on days when you just want to remove shine and don't feel like wearing makeup! I highly recommend using the cap to pour a TINY bit of the powder into it when you dip your brush in it. I can see why this product has won so many awards because it is truly the best. I used to use BareMinerals Mineral Veil all the time until I started using this lovely product.

  • Urban Decay Naked2 Eyeshadow Palette

It seems like Urban Decay gets better and better with each new palette! I'm thrilled that UD has worked on some issues that fans of the original Naked had made. First off, the brush included is much better; now it's a double ended brush that spreads and blends much better than the original flat brush the first palette had. Second, I like that this comes with a lip gloss instead. I feel like I might get lynched every time I tell someone I'm not the biggest fan of the UD primer potion. Don't get me wrong, it's a great eye shadow primer, but I prefer others. The lip gloss shade will look good on everyone because it's the perfect shade of sheer neutral pink and it's perfect for keeping it in your purse or pocket. As far as the colors go, I am a big fan. I also like the tin packaging--much better improvement and far cuter in my opinion. For at least a month when UD originally released the first photos of the Naked2 palette, I was debating whether or not to bother buying this palette. I assure you that this palette looks MUCH better in real life. My favorite two shades are "Pistol" and "Verve" which are beige-y silvers. Some people complain that "Half Baked" shouldn't have been revived in this palette since it was featured in the original Naked palette. However, Half Baked was my favorite shade in the first palette so I'm not complaining! Blackout was featured in the previous 15th Anniversary special edition palette, but I think it's a good inclusion to have in a palette. This palette is much cooler in shades as opposed to the original Naked which is much warmer. That's why I prefer Naked2 in winter/spring and Naked in Summer/Autumn. However, you can rock either any time of year!

  • Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20

When I was watching a program about featured anti-aging products this season, I was intrigued by the Miracle Skin product. Similar to a BB cream, this product claims to hydrate, protect with spf 20, and "transform" the complexion by smoothing over fine lines and wrinkles, reducing the appearance of pores, and evening out tone and pigmentation over time, all while giving you a flawless airbrushed look. I was more intrigued with the airbrush look because my skin is nowhere near perfect despite my arduous claims with skin care (I've seen a dermatologist already, but I'm not ready to shell out the $$$ for pricey procedures). When I tried a little on my hand, it did give a beautiful soft airbrush effect that I was hoping for. So I decided to take a sample of this home to try for a few days. Unfortunately, my experiences were not as I hoped it would be. First this product claims to hydrate--if anything, it made my skin feel much DRIER with this on, than not having anything else on. I could see my problem flakey skin associated with living in the desert rise though the tint. Second, there are limited ting. My complexion is in between light and medium and neither of those fit my complexion well. There IS a translucent shade, but I was hoping for a tint for times when I desired sheer coverage on low-maintenance days. Third, this product claims to have "naturally-derived silicone" which means if you have had problems in the past with silicone (like if it makes you break out), I would skip this product. Although it made my skin feel silky, my skin always feels uncomfortable wearing silicone products. This product is also a much thicker consistency, so it takes a while to apply on your face. As far as it goes trying to achieve that "airbrushed" look? Although this did reduce the appearance of my pores and fine lines, and it did give me a satin finish, I could not get past the way that it made ALL of my dry flakey skin appear through. Even when I use regular foundation, it is able to cover my dry skin, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with this product. For someone who has a decent complexion with not-so-dry skin, I'm sure this product might impress them. As for me, I'm thrilled that I didn't bother wasting $48 for a tube of this stuff (so pricey!) This is just another extremely pricey tube of tinted moisturizer (and let's face it, I've tried tinted moisturizers that were FAR superior and at a fraction of the cost). The only thing that this product does offer over most tinted moisturizers or BB creams, are its anti-aging properties. Since I'm young and I follow a good skin care regimen, I can afford to pass on the so-called "anti-aging benefits" that this product claims to do.

  • John Frieda Precision Foam Colour

In the past I usually have had problem with boxed-hair color because it fried my hair or washed out quickly (even after claiming to be PERMANENT color). My normal hair almost jet black with a hint of dark, dark brown (like in my picture). I used this because I wanted something different. I didn't want to do anything to dramatic, but I wanted a little lightening and warmth in my hair so I opted to try the Dark Chocolate Brown. The instructions are easy to read and easy to follow. I do like the concept of foam color because it did seem much easier to apply than the standard squeeze bottle that comes in hair color boxes. My biggest strife was that it took ages to rinse out, even longer than other coloring products. Because my hair is so dark, there wasn't much of a difference in color (very very little lightening from black to the darkest brown), and without the use of a porosity neutralizer (pre color treatment that uses proteins to fill spaces in your hair to give you a more even color), my roots were lighter to the chocolate brown I wanted, but my ends were almost black. In bright light, I could see the golden chocolate shine radiate off my hair, but in normal or low light it is undetectable. Because my hair was naturally dark and I did not pre-lighten it, this had more of a glazing effect than a color effect. For people with lighter hair, you will see better results. As far as coverage goes, this definitely covers better than regular drug store color and you won't be left with patches (as claimed on the box) unless you are seriously wreckless. My hair is a little longer than shoulder length now, but there was adequate product to over saturate my hair like in the instructions. For people with much longer hair (like stomach-length or longer), I would highly suggest buying two boxes if you insist on using this product.

  • Peter Thomas Roth Instant FirmX Temporary Face Tightener

I often meet women who are interested in this product after seeing it on Dr. Oz. Since that episode, demand for this product has sky-rocketed. I sell lots of skin care products so I often demonstrate this product on many people with mature skin. I follow my own skin care regimen and I am still young so I do not have problems with wrinkles. I am simply speaking on my observations of demonstrating this product on OTHER people who do have problems with wrinkles and want a quick fix. First off, you must cleanse your face. The product works better that way because it doesn't have layers of residue or makeup to fight through. Don't get me wrong, you can still put this over makeup, but your results may be slightly better if you used this first. You take a little bit (a little bigger than the size of a pea) and gently dab it on areas where you want to see tightening. Then you let this dry for 3-7 minutes and your facial expression must remain emotionless during this time for best results. During this time, you may feel a tingling in your face where you applied the product. If your skin is sensitive to products that tingle, this may not be for you. Now here comes the tricky part. Many people may have a white residue left on their face after the product dries. You do NOT wash it off because that will wash out the product and you will lose your results. You MUST either take a damp (not dripping wet) tissue or q-tip and GENTLY wipe off the residue. Obviously people with darker skin may have more worries of the white residue than people with lighter skin. Your results DO stay and last throughout the entire day if you follow the instructions correctly. It does take a little practice to get it right, so I suggest getting a sample of it first to practice with before making the investment. When I do see results on people after using this product. They do have a significant reduction in wrinkles and their skin looks smoother. So the product DOES work, but use with caution. You can use this under the eye area, but I would suggest using the FirmX made for the eye only because it's made to better deal with the delicate skin around the eye. Do NOT use this product or the Eye FirmX on your eyelids. Note that you must wash your face at the end of the day. Also, keep in mind that this is only a temporary tightener. It will not last for more than a day and it does not permanently treat wrinkles. I highly suggest using this during the day and after you wash it off at night, use the PTR UnWrinkle regimen or any other products/treatments you may use to treat wrinkles.

  • Ole Henriksen Transforming Walnut Scrub

You only need a little bit of this to use to scrub your face. A very little goes a long way but it still feels quite intense, so I would probably suggest something else for delicate skin. The scent is quite pleasant--it's like a nutty citrus scent but it's very light. If you use it in the shower, make sure to rinse out your tub in the end or else you'll have little balls all over the bottom of your tub! It does make your skin feel soft and you will glow after using this. My only complaint--the scrub's particles may be a little too large for some. Similarly to the St. Ives Apricot scrub which many people love, they do not realize that the seeds are too large and can cause micro-tears in your skin which can make flake-prone skin worse. I normally use a micro-exfoliant which never made my skin flakey, but I opted to try this scrub because the particles were a little bigger. However, after a few times of using this, within days I noticed new patches of flakey skin on my cheeks and nose. I normally do not have problems with dry skin and I didn't have problems with my old exfoliation regimen. Therefore, I believe that what MAY have given me this problem of new-found flakey skin was the walnut scrub (I do not rule out the possibility of other environmental factors). I went back to my old regimen and I haven't had a problem since. I'm not speaking against this walnut scrub or the St. Ives Apricot scrub--but only because it does not work for ME. There are many people who use either scrub for a while and have not had any problems. It may be likely that my skin might be a little more delicate than the skin belonging to avid fans of this scrub or St. Ives. It simply does not work for me. Unless you are an avid Ole fan, the price often scares people away as well. If you do like this product, you may notice many similarities with the St. Ives apricot scrub, but for a muchhhh lower price.

  • Too Faced Lashgasm Mascara
    8.0

    Too Faced Lashgasm Mascara

    Good lengthening mascara

This is not the best lengthening mascara (I prefer Diorshow Iconic or Benefit-They're Real mascara). This has a small thin brush with long thin combs that work into your lashes to stretch and define them out. I was not particularly impressed with the formula as it dried out faster than most mascaras, but also it seemed to flake off throughout the day. This is good choice for people with smaller eyes who want to bring out their lashes, but for someone looking for a more heavy-duty mascara I would skip this!

  • Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush

Yes, this is a pricey brush. However, it is incredibly soft so you'll want to use it on your face all the time. It is retractable too so you can carry it with you all the time. It's very dense so it picks up and distributes powder well. I love using this brush with bronzer--the soft dense bristles give you a soft beautiful glow!

  • Too Faced Size Queen Mascara
    7.0

    Too Faced Size Queen Mascara

    Interesting, but not for me

First off, the brush is MASSIVE!!! I work with makeup and I don't think I've seen a brush this large before. It looks somewhat like a cork screw, so what I like to do is when I work the brush to the base of my lashes, I like to twist the brush so it gets every last bit of my lashes. I have not had a problem with the formula flaking off throughout the day, but be warned that this is not waterproof. Also, the large brush is kind of easy to hit my face and get a mascara smudge on my skin. It doesn't clump my lashes together like Diorshow Blackout, so I like that. I received this mascara as gratis, but I'm glad that I didn't pay for it. It's likely I would have retuned it because I am perfectly happy with my usual mascara, but mostly the massive brush is a pain to work with.

  • LORAC Private Affair Eye Shadow Palette with Eye Primer and Double Ended Brush

I am a big fan of Lorac shadows because they are shimmery and satiny without any of the obnoxious glitter. The packaging looks a little bulky but the bottom side opens to reveal a brush and eyeshadow primer. I LOVE the shadow primer. It's not the best primer on the market, but it does a good job. The colors are beautifully pigmented and can be used wet or dry depending how intense you want it. This is a great palette that makes it easy to transition between a day or night look.
