  • L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Balm

In its ways, this really is a good balm. The formula is wonderfully slick and easy on the lips, and completely moisturizing too! It's not even one of those that only moisturizes for half the wear time (as in, when it dries up or wears off my lips, it doesn't take my moist lips with it and leave me with flakes). It sweeps on like a dream, but it does sit a little heavier than most lightweight lip products to the point that I can tell I am wearing lip balm. Nonetheless, it blends in very well and disguises any dryness or flakiness and leaves this lovely shine. With its clear cap and shiny, gold, twist-up tube, the packaging also makes this balm much more appealing than others in the drugstore. However, the biggest kicker that's keeping me from giving this balm 10 stars is the lack of color pay off. Some ladies with less pigment in their lips might see a little more color when they apply, but I have rose tones in my lips and I couldn't see the difference between six of the eight shades. When they say sheer tint, they weren't kidding! It really is like I bought the same balm six times over when I decided to try all of them. Because it is very sheer, it makes me believe that the only thing separating this balm from other typical twist up balms is its fancy packaging! It really is a shame because my selection has just been brought down by more than half. Variety is the spice of life, no? Still, I can't say too many bad things when it comes to recommending this balm. It contains SPF 15, which is more than most lip products and therefore can be worn during the summer, is unscented and tasteless, it looks good on the outside, feels rich, and is all together worth the money. For ladies who are looking for a little more color, though, I can only suggest trying out the Candid Coral or the Plush Plum shades as those were the only two that showed a hint of color difference on my lips!

  • EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm
    4.0

    EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm

    Not the Very Best

The main seller for this lip balm is the packaging, hands down. In terms of application, it actually is quite a means more convenient to apply because of its fat and chubby shape than stick lip balms. However, I find that this does nothing to moisturize my lips nor keep them moisturized. I would go as far to say as it dries my lips out! This balm does wonders under lipstick or other clingy lip colors to smooth out any lines at the beginning of the day, but if let to their own devices on bare lips, I get loads of unexpected flakes and a slightly chapped feeling by the end of the day. I say unexpected because this balm -feels- moisturizing with its slick application! Slick lip balm should mean soft lips, right? Sadly, not the case here. In reality, this balm really just sits on top of my skin and transfers none of its moisture to my lips. Apart from moisture, the balm is also a little hard to apply at first. It took multiple swipes to feel like any balm was reach my lips at all, but that problem was quickly fixed by a few minutes of sitting in my pocket to soften up. I very much wanted this balm to work wonders like all the reviews have said it would. It is free of loads of strange chemicals such parabens and petrolatum (plastic), it smells delicious, it has a nice sweet taste and also comes in loads of different flavors. It is nice to try, but it is not a balm worth repurchasing, especially with the upcoming chapped-lips weather!

  • Wella Shimmer Delight Shine Spray

First thing's first: the results from this spray are amazing. I get shiny hair instantaneously without any greasy, limp, or over-producted hair feel! It is as simple as a spray and brush-through on both sides of my head and suddenly, my hair is "whoa, shiny!" Everything down to the packaging is well made and will receive absolutely no complaints from me. Though the spray comes in a slim glass bottle, it definitely withstands dropping, leaking, or breaking, making it ideal for traveling without travel-size necessities. The spray mist itself is light, but direct; thus, one spritz actually deposits most (if not all) of the product right to my hair! There is a very fine scent of fruit that comes with, but it disappears almost instantly when brushing through so no irritants here for those who are sensitive to scent. What else can I say about it? It's easily a must have for any lady that has been looking for that proverbial shiny hair with no strings attached!

  • L'Oreal Paris Go 360 Clean
    8.0

    L'Oreal Paris Go 360 Clean

Well, It Does What It Says

Indeed, I have not had a break out since I've included this cleanser as part of my regimen. It could be one of many factors though, such as not skipping a day of facial cleansing or the useful little exfoliating scrubby (which I am a fan of). Note: this one IS particularly drying when compared to the other formulas, has a cooling feel on the face, and smells distinctly like...cologne! Still, I will not complain because I have been breakout free except the occasional ONE blemish, and the cleanser (or could the scrubby) does clear out the blackheads around my nose daily!

  • Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I honestly have to say, I love this serum. Like basic cleansers that cover most everyday needs, this serum is the basic of all serums. Personally, I needed a little more TLC in my skincare and with this, I discovered the difference between DRY and DEHYDRATED skin (mine being of the latter) despite my oily skin type. I can easily see how most women would find this less than helpful if they were already adamant about their skin care prior to using this serum, but I found it to be the perfect addition to my wash and moisturize routine. After only two weeks of use, my skin has become more glowing, healthier, better textured to where it was visible in the mirror, softer, and definitely more hydrated, thus much less oily! I've also noticed less puffiness in mornings when I wake up from only a few hours sleep as well as smaller and smaller acne breakouts. I love my results simply because this serum steps up my routine to a level of care my skin has never gotten, and it shows! Granted, neither the bottle nor the company actually PROMISED any results, I just saw mine where there should have been if I took more time with my skin! Therefore, I urge ladies to sample this serum if they believe their skin needs more care and hydration than it did before, but it is not for those who already have well maintained skin needing a targeting treatment (such as spots, wrinkles, etc.). My results have been great for a two weeks straight treatment, I simply can't wait to see what it may look like in the long run!

  • NYX Cosmetics Extra Creamy Round Lipstick

I believe these lipsticks deserve an extensive review due to the fact that they are simply amazing and just so incredibly affordable. With over 200 shades for only about $4.00 a shade, NYX has seriously achieved something wonderful here. These lipsticks have the quality of a department store, but the price of a drugstore; which can make for some serious indulging and color experimenting. Formula wise, every single shade I have tried has the same smooth, buttery glide and velvety texture. These lipsticks never dried out my lips nor accentuated my flakes. In fact, they moisturize so well, I actually have softer lips at the end of the day when I remove my makeup! The colors themselves are very pigmented and what you see in the tube is what shows up on your lips. They all wear very well without bleeding nor that heavy weight that screams "I have lipstick on". However, there are some small quirks that deserve mentioning. First, these lipsticks do fade a little. It has never been a problem though because, by the time the lipstick has worn off some (around lunch or midday), there is a nice stained effect left on my lips until I have the chance to reapply. Secondly, these lipsticks do have a distinct smell. It is a rather detergent-like, chemically, floral scent that is a little strong when applying. The scent doesn't last and the lipstick itself is tasteless, but those sensitive to scents should be aware. I should also mention that the packaging presents a little joy in itself. Simple and no fuss, the black tube is always easy to travel with and the cap never falls off. The lipstick bullet twists up so smoothly and easily, it just reinforces the fact that it is a quality product. As a last note, I highly recommend the shade Heredes, which is a dusky, tea rosy, nude that could be the perfect my-lips-but-better shade for a lot of medium to tan skinned ladies!

  • St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

This product, I believe, deserves an extensive review because it has been so raved and debated about at the same time. This scrub is basically a cleanser that includes apricot oil for nourishment, and corn and walnut kernels that do the exfoliating job. Personally, I found this cleanser to be perfectly fine face exfoliant, but only sparingly. I have to agree with the many that say it is much too harsh for daily use. It's a fine scrub for sure; it smells like creamy apricots, the cream formula leaves the face squeaky clean (but not in a stripped sort of way), and the amount of product in one tube is very much worth the money. However, the walnut plus corn within the scrub does not dissolve nicely into the cleanser as a good scrub would, therefore, the more I scrubbed with this cleanser on my face, the harsher it got. After a week of using it unknowingly, I had serious breakouts like none I've ever had and my face was usually red and scratchy in places despite the fact that my skin is not sensitive at all. On the plus side, I did have clean pores around my nose and T-zone! So its cleansing power was no myth and that the cream formula portion was actually hydrating enough that my skin didn't feel tight afterwards at all (it should be noted that my skin is oily and I do like in a Southern climate). Thus, for those who are interested in trying it out, this scrub's reputation is not something to be missed, but I do insist on these points: this scrub is NOT for sensitive skin in the slightest, use only one a week or twice at most, use a small dime size amount, and scrub very gently for no more than 15 to 20 seconds!

  • Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10 Acne Medication

My skin is oily and acne prone. On the one hand, this treatment does clear up my acne and prevent new breakouts, but on the other, it clogs my pores! Not in the more acne sort of way, but it does create little blackhead-like bumps (that are white when I remove them. Gross! I know!) around my T-zone that enlarge my pores greatly if applied anywhere near my nose. Still, I do not have too much to complain about since I've found it quite useful at keeping acne at bay by applying it in the morning followed by SPF, and at night after washing my face. Though I have to be careful where I put it, I like this treatment and will continue to use it because it is just that effective and affordable!

  • Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Blush

The rose shade is crazy pigmented so a light hand would be best when applying! I can't say much for the "matchmaking" color changer, but I did notice that the blush turns from a bright pink to a more subtler, rosy pink when apply. My only complaint would be that it does wear off by midday in the summer. That said, the main gimmick here has got to be the packaging. The blush is bordered with an over-spray like a theatre mirror, the bottom of the compact comes with a nice soft brush that doesn't shed, and the compact itself comes with two bright LED lights that could come in handy at night. Just don't try to using it as a mirror when they're on, it's blinding! Packaging junkies like me would love playing with this, and it comes with a decent blush too!

  • Benefit They're Real Lengthening Mascara

I absolutely love this mascara for a night time look. It really adds volume for clean, full lashes, without smudging nor flaking. However, I do have my bone to pick with it. While this mascara does add tons of volume, it is quite expensive and it doesn't do so hot when it comes to lengthening my lashes. I also have a problem of my lashes de-curling by midday if I put it on in the morning. I can't complain too much because I do love the falsies-like effect it gives, but I do wish it was just slightly cheaper for the slack in the other categories!
