    Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

    Surprised by the low reviews!

This is a good product. I would even say ingenious. However, I think that it is often used incorrectly. For example, it should not be used weekly for an infinite amount of time - this can cause broken capillaries in the nostril area (see box) and can actually cause more blackheads. What this product is excellent for to initially clean out your pores than use another product to keep them clean! For me, I use the strips as needed along with a 15% glycolic acid moisturizer at night. This is what finally kept the blackheads away. I have struggled with blackheads for almost twenty years and tried a variety of things; everything seemed to dry out my skin and cause flakiness and irritation. It also sometimes created more oil. After trying toners, exfoliators, Retin-A and oodles more products, the glycolic ended up working the best. Make sure the strip is wet enough before pulling; otherwise nothing will come out. The water acts like cement, bonding to the blackhead and allowing it to come out. All in all, this is a great product! Give it a try.

  • Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer

I am a self-tanning guru and have used many products. I typically use a gradual tanner all year, until the Summer when I switch to an actual self-tanner. This is not one of the best. My skin is medium so I used the medium/tan version as I always do. I thought the foaming application would be easy to apply, but it wasn't. The "mousse" was drippy and runny and somewhat difficult to get out of the can. It had a TERRIBLE odor during the application; possibly like very strong cocoa butter. (And I normally like cocoa butter!) It was overwhelming and not in a good way! The formula was not as easy to apply as a lotion, cream or spray would be. My skin was sticky for quite awhile after - possibly an hour. In all fairness, I put on a slightly heavier application than I normally do. The color developed and was not that appealing. Out of all of the self-tanners I have used, this one was one of the worst in terms of the "naturalness" of the color. I saw more "orange" undertones in this color than I have in other products I have used. In addition, I have only experienced blending issues around the wrists, elbows, knees etc. with the cheapest self-tanners, and this one was no different. There are many other budget tanners out there that are heads and tails above this product. I don't hate it and will probably use until it is gone, but will not purchase again. It just isn't that good. In addition, there is a mild self-tanner smell after it dries, even though the can states otherwise. I did not experience streaking; however, the color did not appear nearly as blended as other tanners. I would also agree with another reviewer that the color is a bit "patchy" when it fades. There are also no moisturizing properties. Wow - as I type this, I think I may have talked myself out of keeping this can!

    Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash

    Excellent Body Wash!

I am so surprised to read some of the reviews where people experienced issues with this product. I have not used a lot of Dove products, but I have used a TON of different body washes and soaps, trying to find "the one." I wouldn't say this is it, but it is very good. At first, I thought the price point was a little high, but the bottle of the Shea Butter version lasted me about 3 months- not bad at all. It is extremely moisturizing. I use a pouf with it and a little goes a long way. I was surprised at just how much it lathers. It is a little thick so a pouf is a must; if any falls out of the bottle, it is almost impossible to rinse off in the shower without having to rub the spot. It's that thick! I don't think it is a bad thing, though. It is a quality wash and does the job, as it claims. It didn't leave my drain clogged at all, and my skin wasn't dry or tight, and no blemishes as another reviewer experienced. I have always tried to pinch pennies with body wash, even trying Suave and others to save money, but surprisingly, I think that this product is a much better value and a tremendously better quality as well. The only thing I would change about the product is to add a little bit more fragrance and drop the price point a little. Overall - pretty good!

  • Freeman Feeling Beautiful Mint & Lemon Facial Clay Mask

Freeman masks are effective and budget friendly! This mask is of no exception. It left my skin cleaner, smoother and made my pores less noticeable. The only issue I have with this mask is the lemon is intense. Sometimes it makes my eyes water. Just be careful that it doesn't get too close to your eyes. Good buy; good mask! Give it a try.

  • Freeman Feeling Beautiful Dead Sea Minerals Facial Anti-Stress Mask

I absolutely love Freeman masks! I am a budget beauty and am always looking for products that work well and are within my budget range - this product is both of those! I recently went to a CVS to purchase the Pineapple Enzyme Freeman Mask, but they didn't have it. I didn't have to worry because they had THIS mask with a rebate coupon from Freeman to get it for free! I literally had nothing to lose. The other two Freeman masks that I have tried were the Lemon Mint and Oatmeal Avocado - both worked really well, but out of the 3, this one takes the cake. Not only did my skin look cleaner and smoother, but I noticed some tiny pimples on my face that came up. This is actually a GOOD thing. It means that the mask is effective at pulling out impurities and purging the skin. It does EXACTLY what it said it would! It is indeed an Anti-Stress, purging mask. I will absolutely buy again! Great job Freeman. Being beautiful doesn't have to be expensive.

  • Nair Hair Remover Lotion with Baby Oil

I have PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) and as a result, have excessive hair. I love the idea of applying a cream and rinsing off, leaving behind clean, soft skin, but there are many issues with this product. First of all, it is not "goof-proof." When I was in my tweens, I used Nair to remove my facial hair and I now have two scars above my lip from a chemical burn. I am in my early thirties and it appears that I have "fine lines" around my mouth, which I don't. Yes, maybe I should not have been "experimenting" with hair removal so young without a parent, but the risk of burn shouldn't exist. Period. Additionally, you can use this product one day, with perfect results and no discomfort, and the next time your skin will tingle, burn or become red and itchy afterwards. It's a bit unpredictable at times. It's also incredibly smelly and runny. I have tried their thicker products (e.g. Brazilian Clay Shower product) and do like these better and have had no issues, but I think that Nair should improve their technology on this basic item that has been around forever. I used to use the Sally Hansen version that was thick, MUCH better smelling and more gently. Believe it or not, it also had a better price point and yummy fragrances. Wish I could still find it!

    BioSilk Smoothing Balm

    Silky & Shiny!

My mom is the kind of woman that goes through product after product, looking for "THE ONE." Well, naturally she is never satisfied and she gave me this product to try. It does exactly what it claims - my hair is left feeling soft and silky. My hair is also a bit coarse like another reviewer stated, and it did calm it down more than most smoothing products do. The price is really a bargain - my mom bought it at Ulta for $13.50, plus with the $3.50 off coupon, it's only $10! My hair is down to my back and I use about a nickel to a quarter when damp, then I blow dry with a round brush. When I am done, I add a little bit more, about the size of half of a dime. The only thing I thought was off, was the funky smell it has. I am not sure if we got a bad batch or not, but there is a mixture of "clean" along with a hint of "fish." Gross....

  • Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Treatment Masque

I have used Aveda products, as well as visiting their salons, for years and years. I liked the smell of the product and the feel of it, rich and creamy, when applying but was unimpressed with the results. It is for "dry and brittle" hair, but I was buying it for some dryness on the ends only. It is a nice spa experience in the shower, but for the small tube and the high price, I would have expected better results. I wanted a deep conditioner that I could tell the difference right away - this wasn't it.

  • Suave Kids Double Dutch Apple Detangling Spray

I bought this by mistake several months ago! The cashier accidentally charged me for it and when I got home, I took a "sniff" and it smelled so yummy I had to keep. My hair is longer and tends to get a bit tangly. I thought this product did exactly what it said it would. It detangled well and smelled divine!

  • Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo Spray

I love this dry shampoo for so many reasons! I have been using it for about a year. I have tried the Oscar Blandi version for Brunettes, Tigi Rockaholic and also TreSemme. My hair is brown, long and a but coarse underneath. It's also very thick. This is by far my favorite dry shampoo. I read about it in an article and it was rated #1 - I can see why. I feel bad that the reviews for curly hair were so bad for this product. I think it is a bit unfair because I would not have chosen to use a dry shampoo for curly hair, which tends to be a little dry to begin with. Perhaps the TreSemme waterless foaming shampoo would be best for that hair type. My roots tend to be oily and this product lets me skip a day - sometimes two! Here are a few tips: 1. Spray only in the areas where needed. It's always easier to add more than to take away! 2. Too much of any dry shampoo will leave hair feeling dirty, greasier or just weird. 3. Instead of combing it in, try using your fingers to "shake" and fluff it in - it leaves hair tousled and full of volume. Definitely give it a try!
