  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator Kit

    Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator Kit

    I use this with caution

What I liked about this Rejuvenator is that my skin feels smoother and cleaner. It exfoliates and removes dry patches and flakes. It is easy to set up. With a good amount of water a pad foams up quite well. I feel that I am wasting to throw away a pad just after one use. But I don't think it has helped to eliminate or reduce the appearance of my wrinkles. I definitely don't recommend this for sensitive skin. The pads are quite rough. Also, be extra careful to use an alcohol-based toner after exfoliating with these pads. I don't have sensitive skin, but I felt a bit burning sensation using my toner after massaging and exfoliating with this. The package suggests "use up to 3 times a week", but 3 times would be too often for my skin. Also, I find that the replacement pads are expensive and not every store carries the puffs refill. :(

  • Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color

I have the color "29: Honor". Love the color, but dislike how long it takes to dry. I am used to fast drying nail colors, so this factor is particularly a setback for me. Is it maybe because this nail color contains soy protein, it takes takes forever to dry AND also you can see that the consistency is not even? While the upper part is thin, the lower part of the bottle is very thick. Before I apply this nail color, I have to shake the bottle more than others. Soy protein may be good for nails, but may not be a good ingredient for nail color. Or is it just my bottle? Also, I think the name "Maximum Growth" is a bit misleading. I do not see my nails growing faster or thicker by using this.

  • Noxzema Bikini Shaver
    7.0

    Noxzema Bikini Shaver

Good idea but could be even better!

I find this shaver effective at shaving the bikini area safely. It gives my bikini area closer shave than regular size razors do. Obviously, this razor is much smaller, and takes a longer time to shave a large area of my body, but once it also worked as a "just-in-cjavascript:void(0);ase-I-missed-a-few-spot" emergency shaver when I traveled and forgot my regular shaver. lol. I wish they were 2-blade shavers though. Since the blade is small, hair can be easily stuck. In other words, I discard these tiny razors more often than I do with the regular razors. Therefore, I also wish that it was available in more than packs of three.

Tom's of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste

    All natural ingredients!

I was first very skeptical about toothpaste with all natural ingredients. It was $1+ more than my usual brand, but I wanted to give it a try. Wow, I like their minty flavor much better than Burt's Bees natural toothpaste. Even though this toothpaste does not foam up as much as my regular brand (Colgate Total), it leaves my teeth and mouth fresh clean feeling. I cannot say this helps whitening my teeth though. It was a good find, when it is on sale, I will buy it again.

  • Pond's Dry Skin Cream

    Pond's Dry Skin Cream

    Rich, thick and affordable

This is an affordable and very rich face cream. My husband, who just wants to moisturize his dry skin, uses this cream during the dry winter months. He does not care about any fancy name or additional benefit so this is perfect for him. For my oily/combination skin, this is a bit too heavy and rich. The texture reminds me of original Nivea cream. Thus, I sometimes use it as hand cream, and my hands feel soft and smooth. BTW, my husband usually prefers his skin care product to be fragrance-free, but he seems to be okay with the scent of this Pond's moisturizer.

  • Head Organics Extra Hold Hair Gel
    8.0

Head Organics Extra Hold Hair Gel

    A hair friendly gel

This gel holds my husband's hair style in place. It is not too sticky or oily like some styling glue. It adds some volume and texture, and it helps his hair look natural but in place. The name is "Extra Hold", but I am not sure if this gel can hold a mohawk style. ;) I don't think this is a super strength hair gel. But I feel better to know that this is a organic styling gel. Oh, FYI, this product is gluten free, sulfate free, and paraben free . Also, he also likes that it comes with a pump, instead of a tube.

  • Suave 24-Hour Protection Invisible Solid

    Suave 24-Hour Protection Invisible Solid

    24-hour protection - No way!

Suave was definitely cheaper than Secret, Degree or Dove. I actually liked the scent, Wild Cherry Blossom. It smelled fresh, clean and a bit fruity. It went on clear and didn't leave white marks. I agree with many reviewers here - it doesn't last 24 hours. It was more like max 6 hrs for me. It may be one of the cheapest deodorants, but not the worst for me. I find the performance of Suave better than Secret Original Solid, but worse than Secret Platinum Invisible Solid or Dove Ultimate go fresh.

  • Aquafresh White Trays

    Aquafresh White Trays

    Extremely uncomfortable

When I read the package saying "the results should last 6 months to a year", I was very skeptical but also excited at the same time. I drink tea every day, and my teeth are stained. Although their claim is too good to be true, I decided to give it a try (and I had a coupon...lol). Pre-bleaching agent filled trays were too big for me, and they were extremely uncomfortable. The worst part was that I had to keep them in my mouth for 45 minutes!! I would not have complained if they made my teeth whiter, but I did not see any difference. Fortunately, at least it did not give me tooth sensitivity or gum irritation like some other whitening products gave me after the process was done (that's the only reason why I did not give the lowest rating). I have not discovered any convenient and effective at-home whitener yet.

  • Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Super Shimmer
    9.0

Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Super Shimmer

Peacock - nice shimmery teal/green eyeshadow

I usually buy MAC eye shadows for bold colors, and soft/pastel color shadows from Clinique. I fell in love right away with the color "Peacock" when I saw it for the first time at a Clinique counter. I did not think it would work for my eye color (dark brown), but fortunately this is not pure green eye shadow. It is green-based with a hint of blue and gold. It comes with good pigmentation, but it is not too dark. It looks and feels nice on my eye lids. The color stays pretty well (it is even better with a primer). Unfortunately, I don't feel the same way with another green-based Colour Surge "Sparkling Sage" which I got free as a bonus item. It was sparkly & shimmery, but the color itself was too pearly for me. I have fun with fabulous green/teal eyeshadow!

  • BareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15
    8.0

BareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15

I use this foundation only with foundation primer and concealer

I've been using liquid-based foundation for years, but bareMineals changed my mind. First of all, I want to state that this foundation does not work for me WITHOUT applying a good foundation primer and a concealer. Without a primer my pores look stand out and the foundation does not stay well. But with the primer, bareMinerals gives me very satisfactory results. My color is Medium Beige and it matches to my skin color very well. The powder is light and goes on smoothly. SPF 15 is a nice bonus. I wish the coverage was a bit more. I still need to use a concealer to cover my acne scars and sun damage spots. Also, I am not fond of their package. The powder leaks out the package often, and I have to be careful when open it. But I do like the natural look this powder gives my face. Again without a primer or bareMinerals' all-over face color "Warmth", I would not love this foundation this much. I'll probably use liquid makeup when the weather is dry, but if I have to pick up power-based makeup, this will definitely be my first choice.
