TRESemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo

works great on third day hair!

i'm surprised at all the negative reviews - this is, by far, the best smelling dry shampoo i've tried to date! the scent is clean and fresh, not strong and overpowering like other brands out there. as for the powdery finish others complain about, you have to brush your hair a few times to distribute it and get it working at absorbing the oil. it even adds a bit of volume! but i agree, my hair does feel heavier after an application - i have to wash my hair the day after i use this, and clean my brushes more regularly. but for saving me from one more day of shampooing, it works fine - and at a great price too!

    Benefit Smokin' Eyes

    smokin' eyes for dummies!

i picked this up hoping i could finally get the smoky eye look right - and i did thanks to the handy step-by-step instructions! i agree with the other reviewer, it's missing mascara to complete the look but otherwise it's a great product. it would also be helpful to have a sharpener for the pencil and more than just two brushes but you can only fit so much in this travel set! i actually wear the light pink eyeshadow and brow wax on a daily basis; the shadow is wonderfully fine and never creases, with just the right amount of shimmer to brighten up my eyse, while the brow wax is a subtle brown that tames and fills my unruly brows perfectly. a bit pricey but worth every penny!

  • Pond's Exfoliating Clean Sweep, Cucumber Cleansing Towelettes

cleansing towelettes are a quick part of my bedtime routine - such an easy way to remove makeup! i was hoping the exfoliating would brighten up my skin a bit but i haven't noticed any difference; if anything, my skin's been a bit drier and itchier (perhaps due to the winter weather).

    Nars Blush

the blush to make you blush

my hubby's jaw dropped when i asked him to buy this for me last xmas =) after hearing about all the hype i had to try for myself. it's a nice shimmery peach-pink blush to add some subtle color to your cheeks; the texture is very light and natural. i'm asian w/ warm undertones, and sometimes the sheen is too subtle, but a few extra swipes with the blush brush and suddenly my cheeks are superflushed - it's a fine line one can quickly cross over. it's rather pricey but the compact lasts a LONG time. after reading other reivews, i'm tempted to try sin...

  • Got2b Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm

this product did little to protect my hair from my flat iron; it flaked a bit and my hair still felt dry at the ends after ironing. the scent isn't that great either. not as good as other got2b products...

  • Got2b Guardian Angel Heat Protect N' Blow Out Lotion

after blow-drying my hair; it was not any smoother or shinier and my ends still seemed dry. if anything, this product just weighed my hair down and added a scent i could do without. thankfully i didn't spend too much $ on this...

Garnier SkinActive Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream

    refreshing rescue for winter dryness!

ever since they discontinued the c.o. bigelow rose hydrating gel =( i've been on the search for a comparable product and i think i've found it! i have combo skin - dry cheeks + oily/shiny t-zone - that gets incredibly dry in the winter. every other moisturizer i try seems to make my t-zone even shinier w/o really hydrating my dry zones. but this does the trick! a little bit of the thick gel goes a long way and it quickly sinks into your skin, leaving it soft and supple and lightly scented (my hubby commented how much he liked it!) i use it as part of my pm routine and in the am when i'm not wearing any other makeup. the only quibble is that it doesn't seem to be compatible with my usual tinted moisturizer (laura mercier) but i guess that's to be expected for a gel-cream.

John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer

    flyaways tamed....temporarily. =(

i'm not completely sold on this product. being in the foggy bay area, my hair is prone to frizz especially right after i wash it. i usually try to tame flyaways with a bit of flex-hold hairspray and a fine comb but without much success. so i was excited to try this new product. i thought that the mascara-like wand would make application much more strategic and accurate but like the usual mascara wand, it takes a bit of effort to avoid applying too much product. the gel-like formula combed through hair easily enough; if your hair seems a bit stiff at first, comb through a few more times. it worked at flattening the unflattering frizzy curls that pop up on top of my head...until i checked the bathroom mirror mid-day and unfortunately the frizzies were back. perhaps this product requires multiple applications throughout the day - if so, at least it's the right size for stashing in your purse!

    Sebastian Whipped Creme

    whipped up waves!

my hair's naturally straight so i wasn't sure what to do w/ the free sample i received, since it seemed geared more toward curly/wavy hair. but as my daughter dances polynesian (hula/tahitian) and i'm frequently braiding her hair to achieve those "islander" waves, i thought i'd give this a try. we both loved how thick and creamy this mousse was compared to other products - indeed, the nozzle tip creates a very realistic "whipped cream" look! the smell was pleasantly sweet but not too strong. this product definitely held the waves in her (also naturally) straight hair w/o any stickness or flaking.

great for short hair or longer layers!

my son and i have been fighting over the free sample i received =) he loves it for styling his short spiky do, as it holds the spikes in place - even in the rain! - w/o falling flat. i love it for creating piece-y layers in my longer do w/o any greasy, sticky feeling. a little bit goes a long way (which is good considering how pricey this is!) nice light scent too.
