    Revlon Nail Enamel

Te best of the Walmart products!

This is the best nail enamel I've found for when I need a specific color NOW & have to run to get something at WalMart! "Strawberry Electric" 190 is a great summer hot pink that goes with pretty much everything (hot pink being "the new beige"!), and that old standly, Revlon Red 680 is THE classic red for fall-winter. My fave neutral is "Blushed" 140, a pearlized pinky-beige. They cover with one or two coats max, they don't chip immediately, and they're always available...

  • Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Restorative Night Cream

Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Restorative Night Cream

Rich & creamy and very luxurious feeling!

Absolutely Ageless Restorative Night Cream is a very rich, creamy, and luxurious-feeling night cream that I am using every night now on my face and neck- and the back of my hands! I love the way my skin feels smoother and softer after I use it and in the morning, and although it is rich and creamy, it doesn't clog pores or cause any breakouts. As I've only been using it for a short time, I'm hoping for longer results, vis a vis lines and wrinkles over time, per the clinical studies, so I'm sticking with it! The smell is sweet and very pleasant, and I like the natural ingredients, such as the Blackberry Complex in this product, that Aveeno uses. AND it's affordable- Yay!

  • Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum

    VERY happy- and rather amazed!

I have been wanting to try Prevage Serum for a LONG time- the extremely high cost of it, frankly, stopped me! For that amount of money I sincerely feel that one needs to have some Noticeable results, so I had my hubs take some "before" photos of me right before I started using it, and then today. I have only been using it for a week so far, and I have to say I'm rather amazed! Comparing the two photos, there is a HUGE difference allover, but especially around my eyes, cheeks, and forehead. My skin is smoother, lighter, and much more even-toned- the dark circles and blotchy redness has dramatically faded! My skin also has a nice, soft texture- a kind of "dewy glow". :-) I'm 56, and I have had a lot of sun over the years, and so I was especially hopeful that this might even out my skin tone- and it has! And yes, the "fine lines" around my eyes and my forehead lines have diminished, too, and my face is noticeably, visibly smoother. (I wish I could post the 2 photos here!) The serum goes on smoothly and silkily; I have been using no other products since I started Prevage, and I am using it twice a day, on both my face and neck. I have tried a LOT of "anti aging" serums and creams over the years, and this it the best one so far, with the fastest results. In short, I look a LOT better- in only a week!- and I seriously want to stick with this product- hope I can afford to! :-)

Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer

    Really surprised- I love it!

I have to say that I'm really surprised how much I like this! It actually held my lipstick & gloss on, and kept it from bleeding/feathering, but the best thing is that it didn't dry out my lips! It goes on like a creamy lip balm, but when it dries it becomes matte, but still soft, and it isn't drying at all, which is what I had feared. My lips tend to get dry as it is, and they flake... and this actually seemed to stop that, which is the best part! I got a sample of this in the HSN kit, and when it runs out I will buy it again.

Serious Skincare Glycolic Gommage Exfoliating Facial

Great, unique exfoliator- a real at-home facial!

I really, really, really like this product! Most "exfoliators" don't really do the job as they're not grainy enough in the right way, but this one is- and it actually gives you a "facial"- you put it on clean dry skin, let it dry like a mask for 10 minutes, and then rehydrate it with water and massage it as an exfoliator; it leaves my skin clean feeling, soft, and smooth, and looking much better than it did before! I also use it on my neck & decollete. (I give it the 10 minutes to dry by putting it on before I get into the tub for a soak!) I've never been really happy with at-home facial masks before as most don't seem to do much, but this one does! I found the scent light and pleasant, as well, and had no breakout issues- I'm 55 and thank goodness I think I've put acne behind me! LOL I had never tried this product or this brand before, and got to do so as it was included in the HSN Total Beauty Collection; I will definitely buy it again.

    Taya Beauty Copaiba Volumizing Elixir

It works! Thicker and soft and bouncy hair! Yay!

I was not familiar with Taya Beauty products, and I'm really glad I tried this- it works! I am Always looking for products that will thicken my very fine, wavy/curly hair, give me more volume, and not add to my "frizz issues", and I try to use natural products for my hair, and this one actually does what it says it will do! What intrigued me was ingredients I'd never tried on my hair before, such as copaiba resin, yerba mate, and coconut oil, and it's definitely one of the best hair thickening products I've used (I can't think of a better one), and I will be buying it again. It did give my hair volume, and a soft, natural feel, and it didn't make my hair greasy or heavy or stiff or sticky- and I use way more than a dime-sized amount! I have used it on wet hair, as my "styling" consists of going to bed with wet hair so I wake up with a head full of curls. LOL It has a nice, light "herby" smell that 's quite pleasant, too. Now I'm looking into their other products!

  • PMD Personal Microderm

    PMD Personal Microderm

Happy- it's as powerful as salon treatments!

Several years ago I had microdermabrasion treatments done at a fine salon, and I really liked the way in which it smoothed my skin and got it as close to flawless as possible. I'm 54, & while my skin looks better than that of many of my peers (which I, frankly, chalk up to genetics, as my mom is 91 and looks 70 (LOL), and I have spent literally decades living and working in the sun), I do have a number of aggravating issues that microdermabrasion can successfully tackle, such as forehead and “11” lines between my brows, fine , “laugh” lines, and sun damage/discoloration. (I don’t think it will tackle gravity or weight gain, however… LOL) As there is no spa anywhere near when I live now in rural West Virginia, I was Very happy to find the PMD, although I truly didn't think it would be as powerful as it is, as I have never had an “at home” product or treatment be anywhere near as effective as its spa or salon counterpart! But the PMD definitely IS a powerful little machine, and you really MUST follow the directions! Like many others, I usually don’t take the time to read instructions, but this time I actually took the few minutes to watch the enclosed CD and read the instruction booklet VERY carefully, and I also went on the PMD website and looked at everything there, and I’m glad I did. Microdermabrasion is just that: abrasion. It’s super-duper exfoliation, and you need to be careful that you don’t over-abrade your face. You are, essentially, lightly damaging the skin so new skin and collagen can form, and you need to do this evenly and carefully. The first thing you do is clean your skin, and then make sure it’s totally dry before using the PMD, so you don’t want to use a greasy or oily cleanser. The PMD is easy to hold, and it comes with interchangeable exfoliating discs: a small one for the face and a slightly larger one for the body. The discs are covered with aluminum oxide crystals, which essentially “sandpaper” your skin, and the device’s suction pulls off the dead skin cells. The facial tip is truly tiny, so you have to use the machine to make “stripes” that cover your face and neck, and while you want to make sure you cover all of your face and neck, you also want to be careful not to go over the same place more than twice. I learned to use the machine by starting, as instructed, with the white “training” disc (which does almost no abrasion), and did my first treatments with the “sensitive” blue disc. Also included with the machine are “medium” green discs, which you can use after your skin becomes accustomed to the blue discs. I have used the PMD twice so far, over my entire face, neck, and upper chest, and got the hang of it by the end of my first treatment, so it’s truly not hard to master. It took me a few minutes to figure out how best to hold it to make sure it was sucking smoothly and evenly as I used it, and while the guide says to use it with upward strokes, I found it easier to do using a downward motion. You’ll hear the happy suction noise when it’s making correct contact and sucking off the dead skin, and the trick is to stretch your skin with your other hand to keep that suction and keep the PMD moving smoothly over your face- you do not want it to hover on any one place or you can get an abrasion. I found that on the rounded parts of my face- especially my nose- it was impossible to do a successfully sucking “stripe” with the machine, so I wound up doing lots of little suction “bursts” to cover the area, which worked fine. A few minutes after I finished my treatments I found my face a bit pink in spots, but I knew that was to be expected, and as it wasn't painful, I knew I hadn't overdone it, and I wasn't worried. The toner I put on immediately following the treatment stung a bit for a second or two, which was to be expected, and I followed it immediately with moisturizer, as is recommended, which was soothing. The machine is easy to use and the tips are easy to switch out. To date I have used the PMD twice- once a week, as instructed- with the blue “sensitive” discs, and it definitely does leave my skin smoother. (And because it does, one is tempted to use it more frequently than is recommended, but for once I am being a good girl, following the directions, and NOT doing that!) While I haven’t seen any dramatic transformation yet (I still look 54 LOL), my skin IS smoother, and I am definitely going to continue using it weekly, something I could never do when microdermabrasion meant going to a salon. While I started out using a facial cleanser and anti-aging moisturizer I had on hand, I decided to order the PMD Starter Kit, which includes their Cleanser, Toner, and Moisturizer, as well as a set of blue replacement discs (each disc is supposedly only good for two treatments, but I think I’ll be able to eke more use from them that), as I want to give this great little machine a real shot at transforming my skin, and I also want to start using it on my hands. And as I understand that serums, masks, and moisturizers are much more readily absorbed following microdermabrasion, I’m also planning on slathering my face with a mask of manukah honey with bee venom after my next treatment!

  • Ouidad Duckbill Clips

    Ouidad Duckbill Clips

Amazing- SO simple, but they really work for "lift"!

I recently started using the Ouidad products, and got 5 of these clips with the first "kit" of products I ordered, Amazing, as they are SO simple, but they really work to give lift to my curly hair, and they are so EASY! Love them. And all I personally need for my hair is 5! I also finally went and had a cut (and color) at a Ouidad certified Salon (with Ana at Tivon Salon in Blacksburg VA). Not cheap, but very good, and she taught me how and when to use each product for my specific hair and styling issues, and how to use the clips so they don't get tangled in my hair. The trick: you slide them in (on their side), and then lift the end UP. :-) You want to get as much lift as possible out of them, so your hair doesn't fall flat against your scalp. I use them with the Climate Control, Botanical Boost, and/or Play Curl Foam, and I do get waves, curls and height! This is the first time I've ever done anything specifically to enhance my wavy/curly, fine (& often frizzy) hair and so far I like it a lot. I'm not totally "there" yet, still experimenting with a number of their products and ways to style my hair (and using the diffuser makes a BIG difference for me), but I really like the Ouidad products so far, and they seem to be working for me. Although you often use a Lot of product, my hair is never stiff from them, always soft and bouncy and shiny, and the styling techniques the stylist taught me are "doable" at home & easy- and I'm a big fan of "low maintenance" hair styling!

    Ouidad Clear & Gentle Shampoo

Great shampoo used with Ouidad system

I recently started using the Ouidad products, and this is one of the 2 shampoos I got, and the one I use the most. It is working, together with the other Ouidad products, to turn my fine frizz into waves and curls, and so far I'm very happy. (I also finally went and had a cut (and color) at a Ouidad certified Salon (with Ana at Tivon Salon in Blacksburg VA). Not cheap, but very good, and she taught me how and when to use each products for my specific hair and styling issues). One of the things she impressed up on me is that I should NOT be washing my hair every day- 3 times a week max. I think that makes a big difference in the "frizz" department... My hair remains soft and bouncy and shiny, and the styling techniques the stylist taught me are "doable" at home & easy- and I'm a big fan of "low maintenance" hair styling!

Really works to stop frizz & boost curls

I recently started using the Ouidad products, and I use Botanical Boost together with Climate Control, daily, and they really do stop the frizz dead in it's tracks!
