    CND SolarOil

    Works better than others

Solar oil is an amazing cuticle oil that has made a huge difference for me. I no longer have any cuticles that are rough or dry. It took several weeks of faithful nightly use, but the results are worth the commitment. I also make sure to use it under the ends of my nails and that helps keep them strong and flexible so that they don't break as soon as I tap something. It has the most lovely almond scent and absorbs in well. While it might be more expensive than other cuticle product, you don't need a lot per nail, so a bottle lasts a really long time (several months for me). I no longer get the occasional hang nail, I assume because this oil keeps everything hydrated. It's worth every penny!

    Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser

    Doesn't clean well, burns eyes

I'm sorry to say that I hate this cleanser! Being natural is what drew me to it, but after a few uses it ended up in the garbage. My skin didn't feel clean after wards, but felt stripped and dry, with a strange residue feeling remaining. I didn't use it to clean my eye area, but just getting it near my eyes caused a lot of burning. I like many Neutrogena products, but this isn't one of them.

  • E.L.F. Studio High Definition Powder

    E.L.F. Studio High Definition Powder

    Sets makeup and blurs

I had been reading about high end brands of HD powders and how great they work, but wasn't willing to spend the money. So when I found this on elf's website I figured for six bucks I'd give a try. You get a large amount of powder for those $6.00. What a great powder it is! It's white and I was a little worried by that, but as soon as I applied it my worries were gone. It's a very light powder with a super soft texture. It comes with an application puff, but I like a makeup brush better - I seem to have better control and can blend it better with a brush. It takes away any shine from my nose and I don't need to touch it up all day. It softens my fine lines (and even the deeper lines!) and gives my skin a kind of "soft focus" look. Kind of like what I imagine they do with Photoshop for magazine covers. I really love to dust it on my neck and chest to blur out the deeper rings and creases - a big plus when wearing something with a v-neck. It never gets cakey, even if I do add another dusting at the end of the day before going out to dinner, etc.. A big plus is that it doesn't alter the color of my foundation. The container is a little thick and clunky, but certainly not enough of an issue to keep me from loving this powder!

  • Goody QuikStyle Paddle Brush

My best friend and I were shopping together and she saw this brush and showed it to me and after looking at it for a minute we both put one in our cart! I have thin hair, that I color and use heat tools on, so I like to let my hair dry on it's own when I can to cut down on the damage. This brush has little blue microfiber strips between each bristle and really gets a lot of excess water out of my hair so it dries much quicker when I let it air dry and cuts my hair dryer time by about half! Plus it seems like the leave in treatments I use work better because they aren't diluted as much. This is a result I hadn't even thought about until I used it for a few days. I've been using it for approximately three months and it's held up very well and looks just like it did when I first got it. I had wondered if the blue microfiber would hold up or if they would get matted and not be effective after a while, but they're doing fine. I asked my BFF a few weeks after we bought them how she was liking it and she said it was really helpful with her thick hair and cut her drying time with a blow dryer by about a third! Great results for both of us!

  • Estee Lauder Beautiful Eau de Parfum Spray

Estee Lauder Beautiful Eau de Parfum Spray

    Feminine, soft, floral, lovely

I have to admit that I thought of Estee Lauder fragrances as out dated and "old ladyish". Sorry Estee Lauder! But after smelling this on a fragrance strip in a magazine I had to try it in person. I was delighted when it actually smelled even better in person. I liked it so much I bought a bottle and it never fails that when I wear it I get compliments. It's a romantic fragrance, floral, but not sweet or overpowering. I have a hard time describing fragrances and think you have to smell them yourself to know if you like them. So the next time you're in the mall, stop by the Estee counter and give Beautiful a sniff and hopefully you'll love like I do!

  • E.L.F. Studio Cream Eyeliner
    10.0

    E.L.F. Studio Cream Eyeliner

    Gorgeous and doesn't budge

This $3.00 eyeliner is a gem! I have it coffee, which is a deep, true brown with no strange under tones to it. It comes in a wide variety of colors from traditional black, brown and navy, to olive, purple and a really pretty golden that will probably be my next purchase. It comes with a handy little angled brush that is just the right width to apply a perfect line. The cream is saturated with color and you can vary the depth of the color by the amount of cream you use and the amount of pressure you use when applying. It's also easy to go back over with more if you decide you want more color or a thicker line.. It glides on smooth and even and doesn't skip like some pencils can. It sets quickly and once it does you can't clean up a mistake if needed, so while getting used to it, keep a Q-Tip right with you in case you need it, because by the time you get one out it will be too late. It sets within a couple of seconds and once it does it won't fade or run all day, which is especially nice for the lower lash line. Be sure to clean the brush after each use or it will become clumped with liner. I just swipe it back forth across a paper towel until no more color appears. It's easily removed with cleanser or makeup remover and doesn't require any pulling or tugging. I have no desire to try the more expensive brands of this type of liner because this is such a great product at such a great price. Try as I might I can't find a single negative thing to say about this liner.

  • Plus White 5 Minute Premier Speed Whitening Gel

Plus White 5 Minute Premier Speed Whitening Gel

    Works well with no sensativity

I can't use the whitening strips because they make my teeth so sensitive. This gel doesn't make my teeth or gums sensitive, probably because I can keep it off my gums. I was reluctant to think that it could make my teeth whiter in just five minutes, but was surprised when I rinsed the gel off and my smile was whiter and brighter. I used it once a week for four weeks and saw a several shade difference. Now I use it about every six weeks to keep up the results. Another plus is that it's pretty inexpensive and you only need a small amount, so there are many, many uses in each tube.

  • Wen Fig Cleansing Conditioner
    4.0

    Wen Fig Cleansing Conditioner

OK, but not worth the money

I gave in and tried Wen but don't think it's worth all the hype. It did a fine job of cleansing my hair and the fragrance is great, but it didn't make my hair look any different, so I can't justify the cost. I did some reading online and found that a lot of women are using any hair conditioner to cleanse their hair and I've found it works better than Wen! I rinse my hair well, use an egg size amount of any conditioner and work it through my hair. Leave it in my hair while I shower, then add a little water and massage the conditioner through my hair and then rinse. My hair is healthier and my hair color lasts a lot longer. I do wash my hair with traditional shampoo about once a week to make sure I don't have any product build up. It's amazing the difference in my hair since I stopped shampooing every day. Wen just didn't deliver enough results for the high price.

  • John Frieda Precision Foam Colour

    John Frieda Precision Foam Colour

Easy to apply and not smelly

I started going gray at a young age, so I've been coloring my hair for a long time. This foaming hair color is so easy to apply, doesn't drip and colors evenly. My husband is thrilled that it doesn't stink up the entire house when I color my hair. It gives me natural looking color and a ton of shine. My hair actually looks like it's in better condition AFTER I color than before. It doesn't give that one tone result that some hair colors do, instead it has real dimension and shine to the color. The deep conditioner that is included is amazing and leaves my hair soft and manageable and there is enough for several uses. I was also very impressed with the gloves provided. It may seem like a minor thing, but the black gloves fit better than the ones included in most boxes of color and are quite a bit thicker. The do a great job of protecting hands. I also found that this color lasts longer than many brands and does a great job of covering grays, just be sure to leave the color on for the added amount of time in the instructions.

  • Samy Fat Hair Thickening Creme
    10.0

    Samy Fat Hair Thickening Creme

    Adds volume and softness

I have thin, fine hair and not a lot of it. I've been searching for a product that would help my hair appear fuller and all I could ever find were in the form of mousse. I came across this cream and gave it a try and am hooked! It's not really a cream, it's more of a paste, but don't let that scare you. It spreads through my hair easily. There was a learning curve for how much to use - I found I only need a small amount and if I use too much my hair becomes weighted and sticky, so start small and you can always add more. So many products are hard to wash out, but this one comes out easily with just shampoo lather. Plus it easily washes off my hands after applying. It gives my hair the added volume and bounce I was looking for and is very affordable, especially considering how little you need.
